When I first came to the US from Russia my mom and grandma told me that when I was little when I saw strangers I would give them hugs. Now that I’m 20 and been adopted for 16 years I learned as I got older not to hug strangers or random people who I didn’t know. I’m still a hugger. I love give hugs to my friends and family.

I'll go ahead and leave my pizza order here for future reference: Gluten free crust, lots of sauce, cheese, onion, spinach, sun dried tomatoes, and then smothered in garlic. Great vlog today. Sundays are the best. Hope Shannon's finger feels better. Who knew something so little can pinch that hard! Ouch!

That pizza tho!!!! I could smell that from here!!! And when you put the garlic oil on it I was no good. I don't understand why people are not lined up in your yard. So glad today was a better day. Not many more bright sunny summer days left so make the best of them when they come. Sorry about Shannon's crab incident, but in all honesty, I couldn't help but laugh when you yelled at it. Have you watched any of the Fathering Autism videos where they teach Abbie how to tolerate things like a face mask or a blood pressure monitor by having her wear them while they count down from 10 to 0? I wonder if that would work for Nicky to get him used to seeing the things that bother him so badly? I hate to see him stress so hard over those triggers, and I know it isn't a matter of him not being tol 'no', it is a matter of a condition he has no control over. I would love to see the day when he looks at one of those triggers and just says 'Meh. What ever.' That will be an awesome day. You will get there, I have faith in you all. Until then, keep calm and paint a seashell.

We all have some type of OCD, My is the way towels are folded and to mother little quirks but we are able to deal with them where Nicolas can't process that. That is a smart idea your friend had about the hair being up. I think it's just learning how to word things for him to process it differently, And I've seen you reword many things Because something's trigger him, So it's just a matter of figuring out what will work with him. I need to come over and have some of that pizza it looks amazing, Or you can send me some to Arizona

John don't let other peoples opinions of what Nicky " should or shouldnt be doing at his age", bother you, you just go ahead and teach him in a way that suits him best that he can understand. . I understand how challenging things can get at times because my daughter also has to put up with comments from other people about my granddaughters behaviour, or my daughters parenting style" because my granddaughter who has Autism, OCD, and sensory disorder , amongst other things, can become extremeley upset, which at times can lead to challenging behaviours or a meltdown if things arent happening the way they usually do, or the way she expects they should..

Hi Tammy, you're right. I don't think it's about simply being told no. It's the OCD piece that he has a hard time with. We have to choose our spots to push back very carefully otherwise he can be an emotional physiological mess for the entire day and more. Thanks for the message my friend.

Hi Stacey, thanks for the message. Yes, Nick does ask his teachers to these things as well. They very careful pick there spots to push back or comply. The wrong decision can result in him being lost for the rest of the day. They are fantastic about it.
