Hide & Go Seek and NickyTV Q & A

Great day with both at home and school for Nicky. He got to show off his new shoes and go to the bagel store. When he got home, he had a great time playing hide and go seek and making pink flamingos. Great Day!

Shannon did amazing biting her tongue and not snapping at that question/comment, being a defender of your family to the ones you love most she showed so much grace in answering the question. Kudos Shannon!

I wrote out a whole long message. But I think sometimes less is more. Those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind. Quite honestly I’d be absolutely devastated if you John and Shan chose to stop daily vlogging. You are both amazing, going above and beyond not only for Nicky but for anyone/everyone with special needs. I watch you for your humility, love, kindness, and so much more. You’re a truly special family and I love you all! And lastly I don’t doubt Nicky will one day play a C Chord on his ukulele, however what’s more likely is he will probably end up playing a full song. Because I believe in him. Sending love and hugs always!🧡

I remember watching you trying to show Nicky how to play a chord on the ukulele and then I saw you recognize that it was too much and settle in with just letting him strum. I was impressed! Try something new- assess- change course if it isn’t working. I have learned so much from watching your vlog. I watch it every day. I feel like you are my family. Thanks for doing a daily vlog. You know there are a lot of lonely people right now with shelter in place. I am not lonely even though I live alone and have been shelter in place for ten months. Why? Because I watch blogs like yours and get to be a part of a family every day. I get to participate in the pride of small accomplishments. I get to just hang out with you. It’s so awesome!

NickyTV has been an amazing Vlog for my children to watch and learn from, as 2 HS boys and a MS 7th grade girl! They are better humans for it; they will treat their peers in school and outside of school better having knowledge for the lunchroom and other times. My kids constantly ‘fail’ at activities... they’re all kids, including Nicholas, whose brains are developing and learning - whether typical or atypical. None of them are failing, we’re parents who are introducing activities and re-introducing activities to our children! Pls continue being authentic and true to your mission, you’re amazing! Great content. My Matthew, who now plays for the 18th ranked U16 team in the COUNTRY, hated soccer when he first played.... and look where he is today!

He makes me laugh and puts a smile on my face. I love when he works on crafts, music time and plays at the beach. Also I love the doggies. Sam also is great with Nick. Johnny is the best brother. I’m so glad Nick has such a strong and loving support system. ❤️❤️ Thank you for sharing your journey with us. God bless.

What I feel is that your content is helpful for others. As someone who also lives with autism in our family. Sharing all that Nicky learns for his growth and independence is what others can perhaps see for their own children. Or to hold onto the belief their child will be able to learn also. Keep doing what you do and thank you for doing it.

Please please don’t take my question negative I would never speak any negativity to any of you. Mr. and Mrs. Savoca I will tell you I love to see how in love y’all are even 20 years later. 😌👍 Well said... I've only been watching for the past handful of months and I can't even remember how I got here. 😂 At first, I didn't see myself sticking around because my leisure time is limited, and if I remember correctly, I stated that very thing in my first comment on the channel. 😉 However, I'm still here and I'm hooked. Most nights before bed, I scan my _lengthy_ YT video notification list for _anything_ from NickyTV. I'm hooked and I have grown to love and appreciate this wonderful family. What a treasure it is to see a pure example of humans being as authentic and as loving as they possibly can... given the specific set of challenges they've been assigned to handle by Almighty God! My heart overflows even as I type this message... it's not often that I acknowledge the genuine respect that I have for them... so thank you for the timely nudge, Mother Africa. You're special 🤗❤️‼️

1st let me tell you when Nicky and Sam were playing hide-and-seek and he kept calling out sam's name was just the cutest. I think sometimes nicky needs to be pushed a little bit but that's what every kid, Anytime you push and you've seen resistance from him you've always back down that I have seen. Nicky does not have failure, what has he failed at? There has been so many times are you guys have seen that he has been stressed or just anxious for that day and have not put any demands on at all, if People watch your vlogs they would know that. You guys are doing amazing. I have watched every vlog since the first one

BUT, due to covid, being high risk & unable to handle all of the chaos out in the world right now, I have been figuring out how to purchase things online. I didn't start right away when covid hit, but there came a point long about August I needed some things & really didn't have a choice. I love it now, it's amazing!! I think people are asking questions like this bc there is a current vlogger out there that is tearing down families that showcase their children. He’s a very mean man. He’s recently been attacking FA and Pricilla herself. It’s sickening. Idk why people feel the need to degrade and feel this way. If you don’t like it, go away. You don’t force anyone to watch these videos. I love y’all and support you and all you do 100%!!! Actually, watching y’all and FA is helping me to get a diagnosis for my 4 year old. John and Shannon😊 I have not and will not read the comments that inspired this conversation. I don’t care what others think but will speak for myself as a special education teacher on year 26 with 2 neurotypical children of my own. Your work here is tremendous. Your insight as parents is so helpful!! I partner with parents at the IEP table and throughout the school year with one common goal: their precious child! You truly add value with awareness and perspective. As always you handled this conversation with typical Savoca diplomacy and class! Much love and gratitude from Michigan❤️ Ann

💪 While I genuinely respect, can relate to, and give mad props to the questions posed... even greater, is my increasing respect and appreciation for you both in answering these questions to the fullest degree. Thank you for taking the time to address each of these very _valid_ and thoughtful points. While I have at times, sensed each of these points being raised in my own mind, in answering so openly and honestly, you guys have dispelled all discomfort and questions in my mind. You both are stellar parents, advocates, and an incredible team. Your family deserves the very best and I pray bountiful blessings and grace in this beautiful journey. *You are special, you are beautiful, and you are loved.* 🤗❤️‼️

I dont think any of your content is boring or abusive. Lately I believe the trend is "staging" the way their family functions and I dont see that at all with you. Actually most family vloggers start out typical and then change through time based off of a strangers comments. I think it's rude! I strongly believe you should keep your content as your family! You are a real true learning tool for families that struggle with the same things in their life. Your not here to impress people by their commands or how they want your content. Please never let the audience make you second guess. Sometimes staying on a child in a productive way is the only way to get them to learn. In days like today you do fantastic! The audience should take notes as I do. You clearly can see that they are happy leave this family alone.

I'm not sure how often you back read comments but i'm binging on a few latest videos and i couldn't not say anything here. The biggest thing with the question about content is because theres a big focus on people calling out exploitation of children and those who cant give consent. I've seen them and agree with them on the most part as a special ed teacher - there are many videos where you just think, this really isn't needed to get your point across. What i will say here is that John doesn't know how to play the youtube game and thats what's good here. He doesn't play on meltdowns or preaching progression and lessons to get views. This is a family who show their lives, a husband and wife, who have 2 kids, 2 pups, future chickens and a wonderful extended family. People watch these videos for everyone. The lessons and advocation and the like comes naturally from seeing a family who just so happen to have this aspect in their lives. If you look closely at these guys, watch videos on the regular and welcome in other sources of insight into special ed learning then you'll see that you have to push your kids the same way as you do your neurotypical ones and you have to respect them the same way you do your others. They may need different levels of support but that doesn't mean you shouldn't push your kids and open up the world to them. You'll see that Nicky has said in videos that he's done and doesn't want to be a part of whatever task they're doing, they ask for clarification because we do so with everyone, yet other people can read your facial ques and communicate non verbally or you'll say something like 'are you sure' for clarification whereas Nicky needs a more direct communication which maybe sounds more harsh? It's not though. When they went skiing, Nicky gave it a go and when he said no more they did no more. I understand peoples views on exploitation and i truly am glad they're raising their points because there is so much exploitation on social media. Do i think these guys exploit Nicky? No. Why? because we've seen Nicky say no and the family respect that. Am i worried this may begin to tip? Maybe. We've seen it so many times but where we are right now - these guys are giving an insight into their family and putting in lessons and thoughts on the Autism world but it's never acted out or with a highlight reel of Nickys struggles or when Nicky is frustrated in the moment. It's all after the fact, just the caregivers opinions and purely just some thoughts. Where these guys are right now is the perfect medium. A lot of their viewers have ties to the world of Autism and this is the kind of content we truly want. It's just life and we're all just chatting about life and figuring out the route life takes us and how best to make life work for us. As i said, i get the worry people have but take it from someone who provides care for multiple people with a range of additional needs - there are autism vloggers out there who do exploit the fact and i too struggle with them but these guys aren't at that point and i've seen maybe 1 thing on here that i'm like i get it but there's really no need to show this but even then that was nowhere near the extent of other vloggers that i've seen. These guys are ok here and i really believe Nicky could truly be exploited and they would get millions in the way of views and dollars - he isn't though. I also believe Nicky could verbalise and show that he doesn't want in on the videos and also find the videos online (which i think he already has?) and have some level of understanding around it and make some of his feelings known. My observation is that these guys are ok and do show Nicky respect and 100% listen to him and his thoughts and feelings. (i never proof read comments so please feel free to come @ me with thoughts or corrections or education or the like)

Thanks for being gracious enough to answer my query which surprisingly came out sounding so negative in its tone. Talk about distortion. Lol. I was genuinely curious about what changes, and I am sure there must be at least a few, take place in the life of you tube families. Oh.. abuse.. lord no.. I was not implying that in relation to your or any other family. I was talking about how a normal parenting practice might almost invite accusations of abuse when viewed by an outsider looking at things from a certain perspective or background. And special needs community, because it involves a slightly different parenting style might just be be misunderstood more because of the unfamiliarity involved with the special needs community in general. I was wondering if you are conscious of how what you project will be received, when you are creating your vlog. See this is what I meant about things getting not lost but distorted in translation. I had to clarify my entire query. But I did understand what you conveyed. Thank you once again for your sincere response. I hope your family is never misunderstood and that you are actually able to bring acceptance for differences. There is no indignity in a meltdown, incontinence, wearing a diaper at 20, messy eating. Its looks like an indignity from a certain perspective..probably a majoritarian, neurotypical perspective. And that disturbs me. Wishing you well and rejoicing in Nick's happiness and hoping you did not take my generic query personally Regards always

Kriticka... just so you know, I for one, genuinely appreciate your questions. It presented a wonderful opportunity to dig into some of those specific instances and circumstances. Personally, I heard but _quickly discarded_ the idea of it being negative at all, because many of those points have also danced in my mind from time to time. As a result of John and Shannon answering so honestly and beautifully, my respect and appreciation has only increased. Not to mention the opportunity and nudging to voice it right here in the comments 😉 🤗 I genuinely appreciate it. As viewers, we are being carefully and thoughtfully _welcomed_ into the Savoca family and our loving voice is being heard. That privilege is part of a very healthy family dynamic. We are all so blessed just to be a little 'fly on the wall' and I know we are grateful for it!! 😊❤️‼️ Edit: _grammatical correction, word inclusion._
