That’s about the worst gimbal tilt I have seen with this quad on anyones videos. I had some seriously slow speed issues I was lucky to work out and there’s plenty of bugs to fix here but I’ve put mine in harsh situations of over the rated 5 category wind speed and have confidence in both the quad and Autel. I think a rush to return is still a bit premature at the moment but I get it if you lost confidence in it. Thanks for the video ✌️

Good video and thanks. I decided to get the Hubsan Mini Pro/ 40 min flight and bundle for 1/2 cost with all the sensors and fully tested. I am happy with the change of mind and will keep my Hubsan. Great Video and thanks for the testing!

I like your comment that you feel a bit like a Beta-Tester! I felt the same way over the past 5 years with different drones and PC hardware. Had a flyaway that I eventually recovered 600 yards away on my 1st Phantom 4 Pro. DJI replaced it and it served me well for years. Had a 2 year struggle with Horizon problems on my Autel EVO I. Had a Mini 2 that had constant overheating issues at just 82 degrees F plus transmission problems. DJI eventually replaced it and all was well. Also had a $2000 AMD Threadripper 3970X CPU die on me within a few weeks of a new computer build - Micro Center replaced it, but it took me 6 hours to disassemble my custom water loop to reinstall the CPU plus my work computer was down for a week. I blame myself for most of this because I'm more than a little hard-wired to throw caution to the wind and become an abused beta tester for these companies when new Tech is within my grasp!😄😎

Planning to buy one to test it myself, this concerns me and the jello effect I have heard of does not sound good ... you just got a new sub with this, cheers !

Sorry you lost confidence, as you say. That is a valid complaint. Before you ship it back try taking it to an open area and letting it sit powered on for a few minutes while it takes in the GPS satellite constellations. The further North you go the harder it can be to get a good GPS lock, especially in the first week or two when brand new drone gets to a new home location. Always remember with an newly unboxed drone the last and only time ithe drone was powered up before you got it was on the other side of the planet. It can take days of flying in your region before the drone is fully dialed in to all the local GPS orbits.

I'm in southern Ontario it's not to cold yet not even wearing gloves lol. The total flight was 5m55s the problem started the last minute or so of flight.

Thank you for the update . I was thinking about getting this drone. I have not had any fly aways on any of my previous drones since I owned the Xstar from Autel back in the day. That drone always had magnetic interference.

True...

I wish you great luck in sorting this out. Both with Autel and finding out what the definitive cause was for the good of the hobby and yourself. With everything mechanical and/or electronic there's always a certain percentage of lemons. That's why some states/countries have lemon laws. Hopefully it's something simple and easy to fix. I do see some others have had trouble with the firmware preventing good connection/communication between the phone, RC, and AC. Like others mentioned; the weather and takeoff location may or may not be a factor.

I too think that you are being a little too hard on this drone. I agree with some of your other viewers. Autel has added firmware updates that have improved this drone to a satisfying degree. I also wish it had a better motor under the hood but you have to weigh the pros and cons of every drone. I still own the Autel Evo 1, which is still one of my favorite drones but I resent Autel for just pissing on it soon after the Evo 2 came out! I might have less confidence in Autel than I do in this drone! LOL! The camera is awesome and you have to just make good decisions on when to put it in the air, and where! I will NOT fly any distance over water if there is a drop of wind! I give the Nano Plus a thumbs up! If I want to fly in any adverse conditions, the Nano stays on the ground and the Evo 1 or my DJI drones go up! Thanks for sharing!

Okay, I have just received the drone and did the firmware update, but i keep getting rc disconnected and aircraft disconnected...reached out to Autel pilot and they want me to run an error log to see what's wrong....sound like it just needs an update. can you advise please?

In your reply I would clearly state to them the drone is defective upon purchase and you want a refund if it can't be fixed. They should send you a new firmware but I haven't heard of this specific issue yet

Excellent review and commentary. I have been attempting to return mine as well. My Nano+ has terrible jello effect in the video among other things. It's very clear that this drone was not ready for release.

Another Question Before losing control of this drone did you hit the settings menu at all ? It’s been reported that while this drone is in flight or even laying on the ground , if you go into settings while it’s turned on and try to close the settings window, the RC will loose it’s connection . Before it attempted to fly away , did you loose signal at all? Is this or was this how your flayaway occurred ? If so it seems like an app problem and not a drone problem which I’m sure Autel will correct .

There is definitely an issue with the app, I have another video showing such when you try to fly a dji drone after installing Autel sky. I don't believe I had any issue like you described with the app but cannot rule out. As soon as I started loosing control i was running after it

@@cantechvideos5701 That is strange for it auto boot the wrong app. Connectin is usually made with via controller & drone App is usually just for video feed on a separate connection & some drones can even fly without the the app (you obviously won't have feed & telemetry)👍

wait 3 months for this drone very excited and when you receive it it is not what you expected I have it and the material feels like a toy I want to return it let's see if with the firmware update it is fixed and also many drone pilots do not check the kp index before taking off

I have send all my logs over to Autel, hopefully I will have some insight soon. I tried to decifer the logs at the time of crash myself and there is no information that points to even a crash occuring, like an error or or motor stop, etc. Really interested to see what they come back with.

and yet... the Mavic Mini and the Zino Mini SE fly in -15C to -20C weather with no issues... and from inside a car... I agree with CT ... way to much money to have tied up in a mini.

After update re link controller, recalibrate the IMU 2x, calibrate the gimbal 2x and try and take off on a flat surface. This could solve your issue.

Were you flying below the minimal flight temperature?

The drone is rated to be flown between -10c and +40c.

@CANTech Videos That is the firmware I have and is what fixed the gimble tilt.

This is interesting because I’ve watched all the other reviewers and no one had this issues at all. There seems to be a common issue with speed but no flyaways . Was the gimbal and compass calibrated before take off ? Was the temperature within Autel flying specs? No doubt you had issues but trying to figure out why. There seems to be lots of metal around you with the gas grill, the step railings, the trampoline, the legs on the picnic table plus your neighbors have lots of metal objects as well. Perhaps a combination of all the above made this drone unresponsive . Personally, I would not give up on this drone just yet given no one else seemed to have this issue . Please give us updates what Autel told you and do you have plans to fly it once more in a different location?? Thanks again for being honest and direct . I respect your opinions .

Yes the calibration of the IMU and compass were done before flight. There was another report of a flyaway on a purchase review that has since been removed. Another prominent youtuber has also commented on my video he has a similar experience, I am hoping he will elaborate shortly to bring credibility to my concerns. I will keep everyone updated, I am sending my logs to Autel today (they sent instructions last night) As for keeping the drone I really only have one opportunity to send it back and that's because it's defective. Weather it's fixable by firmware or not I'm not interested in spending 1k to find out. I have invested and wished for the best on other drones before. My experience is it rarely gets better

Your take off point was in amongst a ton of metal.....from the top of the table. A poor choice of take off location. I had a similar experience with another well known brand Mini drone which did an uncontrollable flyaway never to be seen again. The manufacturer checked the flight logs and confirmed strong magnetic interference to the gyro/compass. At least yours didn't fly away. I would suspect similar magnetic interference happened to your drone.

I purchased Autel Care and bounded the drone before the first flight, I reached out to Autel and offered them the logs. Hopefully I will get some feedback from them. The take off spot is plastic, the metal is not close enough to cause interference and the flight was almost 6min long. Problems happened the last minute or so

This drone just got released, of course, there's gonna be issues. No drone is perfect... I wouldn't give up on the drone yet, I'm sure there are other ways to address the issues that you've experienced. First of all, try flying in an area where there's no metal. Second of all, re-do all the calibrations again. And lastly, wait for Autel to release a firmware update... If none of the above helps, it might a hardware issue, perhaps, Autel can look at replacing it.

You know that Autel are going to have you jump through hoops in tests before they even consider a return shipping label? *** I read your updates... If its Firmware.. they know about it and that makes them less trustworthy. Glad I passed on this one as 4+ months of the year our weather is not withing their specified range.. and its $300 overpriced. 👍👍

@@acronrx do you have a link? I just did a test flight in the house with gps turned off. Two things I learned. First is the drone will not take off without adequate gps lock, you need to turn off in advance settings. Second thing I learned was the throttle response did change slightly through the inside of the house. I also had slight gimble tilt again. I also had a failed gimbal calibration. The self calibration stopped in the down position and said gimble adjustment try later. Powering off didn't fix it, however removing the battery did

Did you made first calibrations at start? Like IMU, gimbal, compass, remote? Because I believe you did NOT. So...1st of things, you need to calibrate...especially after firmware update...By the way, you DID updated the firmware, right? So...from my side looks like USER ERROR and not Faulty drone... Try to do it properly than will see how it goes.

Seriously?!?! Did you even try to watch other KZreadr's assessment of the Nano+ before hastily returning it? Looks pretty cold where you are so this may have affected the gimbal behavior, but nonetheless this drone has drawn raves from just about everyone that has gotten it!

Unfortunately this is not the only reported flyaway with the nano plus, other YT channels are reporting various levels of quality control issues also. As for temperature the manual states it's good between -10c and +40c. I have flown many drones in cold weather for years, gimbal tilt and flyaway is not a symptom. u ever heard of magnetic interference, u was in it, lol. I have flown hundreds of drone's, everything thing u mentioned, is symptom, of it. Also, make sure u pick up satellites ,or u will be in trouble. Also, I have and seen more mavic 3, flying away, disconnecting, and crashing then nanos.

@@cantechvideos5701 Quality control issues. List them out! And give me links to anything that hasn’t been resolved. Unfortunately, your Mavic 3 looks like it has lots of quality control issues from disconnects to picture quality issues, to manufacturing finish issues. But you’re not complaining cause you’re trying to justify why you spent $3,000+ on a not ready for release professional drone!

So, to summarize this video, guy flies drone outside in a residential area in Canada in the winter near sunset. Flies fine until cold weather outside the recommended temperature range starts affecting the drone. Guy of course blames the drone and wants to return it.

Don't let the snow fool you, southern Ontario is quite balmy, I'm not even wearing gloves! Cold weather really comes into play when the drone is stored below spec, battery life will be severely hindered. When it comes to gimbal operations cold weather effects the pliability of the rubber dampers on the gimbal mounts. The result of this would be gimbal shake, not gradual tilt.
