I got further than expected in this range test with plenty of battery and there is some gimbal tilt and occasional twitches with this gimbal I'm not crazy about. The Lite Plus will also just start crabbing in flight at times and then corrects itself but I'm hoping an update will fix these little annoyances.

I agree. The Evo Lite+ has some legit potential, it’s just “not there” yet. I find myself grabbing my Air 2S more often, as it just feels more stable and reliable, even though camera quality is less than the Evo Lite+.

Battery flight time has been no problem with this quad. It’s very close to the mark.

Another great video QC. Wow I did not realise that the EVO lite plus was so good, with that range and video quality. I always (perhaps wrongly assumed) that the autel evo nano plus was the better drone, maybe it is (or not), just not sure now, but I have to say, your video quality and range test is amazing here. Nice to know the Evo Lite knew when it was time to return home after that awesome distance. All the best andy in the UK

We shouldn`t be too demanding from them, as Autel Evo drones are very good, and they do such a great job, it doesn`t matter the model or version. That is quite impressive. When you said you were going to try and get to the highway I was in much anticipation, then I got over excited that you actually got there. The only time I realized you had gone way past it was when fpv feed was restored after return home was triggered, I was like "oh sh****" look at the high way over there". Great video Chris, your videos are so objective that anyone new into this drone business gets to know what to choose, what they stand to gain or lose from their choice and I have said this before, your review made me buy the FIMI X8 SE 2020 and I was never disappointed. They impressed me with the Evo 2 signal and didn’t let me down with the Lite either. There’s problem areas here that none of my quads hit well but Autel has something good here.

Good test of the signal strength. I don't think I've seen your DJI drones go that far.

It’s a harder area to get full range than people think. It looks like a straight shot will do the trick but there’s a path for signal there I’ve learned. Bounces off the mountains… 😂

You got about as far as i expected this drone to fly based on my experience with the Evo and Evo 2. I did a bit less with the Evo and just a little more with the Evo 2. What surprised me most was how long it took you to get your video feed back. Normally with an Autel drone there’s not a lot of difference in distance away before the controller reconnects and video feed returns. The video feed might be very pixellated, but it returns. Overall it looks like this drone is ready for prime time but needing a few tweaks. Good job Chris. Thanks for the review.

Appreciate you doing these tests on Autel drones. At the end of the day, I think DJI is still the most reliable in overall flight performance.

That is some pretty good range dang. For horizon test you could fly the drone to the back end of a lake and go as low as you care to and look at the shoreline, I would think that should show a pretty accurate horizon

Putting it in the wind with higher altitude is s better test to the gimbal. You can’t fly there shoreline to shoreline and have signal unfortunately. 👍🏻

Looks like there was a little hill cutting the line of sight - quite obvious to see while watching the drone returning home. So that 7 km distance wasn't the maximum range, yet. ;)

It’s the only way I’ve ever done it with all my quads. I enjoy over the water flights most of all and they are the safest for anything below should a bird take me out. Thanks 😊

My first Evo Lite+ had a gimbal that sloped the horizon even worse than yours. I recalibrated the gimbal before every flight, recalibrated the compss and IMU. Nothing helped. All my videos were ruined by a crazy sloping horizon. So I returned it. My second try got me a really excellent gimbal that can almost always hold a perfectly level horizon, even when turning fast to either side. So I have to say that there appear to be many defective gimbals out there, but if you get a good one, it is the best, most level gimbal ever. Send back an Evo Lite+ if it slopes the horizon too much!

Dang, that's a good range! And good battery life too. is there an option to adjust the sharpening in the app? Looks tiny bit oversharpened to me. ...I thought the "oversharpening days" were over, but every now and then a new quad pops up with oversharp image.

I’m challenged with this camera like I am with the Evo 2 but I’m definitely not happy with app settings. Manual focus just screws everything up and where you would normally set your settings isn’t the case. I don’t like the auto mode for sure. We need a camera update but I’ve seen some that just know how to work magic with these cameras.

I received mine on Tuesday. I confirm the strong signal, maybe a little better than Dji. I focus more on camera issues. So far I have found that WB does not work properly in pro mode. In all auto settings, it does extremely well, especially on night shots. They need to be corrected immediately. Do you know if the Flickr setting should be activated (50, or 60hz) or should it be left at no?👍👋🇬🇷

60hz is US standard but who knows if that works properly. Auto focus is a bust as well and auto settings are too far off from what’s real in my opinion.

Your yaw looks smooth did you change the yaw settings? wish i could get my mavic 2 to look that smooth on the yaw.

Not being able to go to setting while recording is a Bummer. The camera looks great but that horizon tilt is another bummer. Did you do very much color grade? The range was amazing. Nice range test Vid Chris.

I just made small adjustments in post nothing great. The not going into settings while recording is a stupid choice if that’s on purpose. Tilt and crabbing is my biggest gripe at the moment. Autel is just not helping their reputation at all.

@@QCGUY WOW, Speedy reply and i agree with you.. It makes me wonder just how many firmware updates it's going to take for them to get it right. They should've got it right before they released it. The Only real Competition DJI has and they still can't get it right. But it was a successful range test.

This is a problem that gets old with every quad today.

With wind over 15 m/h drone don’t move, fly very slow and battery drain fast, I almost lose my.

Does. Autel limit the signal strength in the UK the same as DJI does . Anybody know please

Chris....Great video. For the $$$$ paid for the Autel EVO Lite or Lite+, is there currently a VR/FPV setting in the app that allows the end user to fly using a pair of VR/FPV goggles? does it split the screen to allow for VR/FPV flying??

I responded to your first comment so yes I’ll reply to this one. lol 1500 meters isn’t very far but you have a weaker signal strength by law in your country compared to here in the USA where we have full FCC signal strength. We can go much further…

Dissapointed with the tilt and crabbing issues. Need much improvement. Can’t seem to beat DJI just yet.

Mine in the city only does 2000 feet and it won’t let me pass that
