    Thats true, its the same issue. Australians need to trust their universities. There are many reports about discrimination in Australia when it comes to skilled jobs. They dont want to hire these graduates. They are happy to get a local tecnician instead of a highly qualified migrant engineer for an engineering role.

    Karl, you've hit the nail on the head with regards to employers not wanting to hire international graduates, specially engineering, and then they cry that there are not enough people. Eng employers also require 2 year experience from grads which goes to show the industry is not willing to train grads, so why wouldn't there be a shortage? I finished my ENG Masters here in Australia in 2016 and still have not been able to get a job because I don't have PR, and in turn experience. This is the vicious cycle we get stuck in and something the gov needs to look into rather than spending tax payer money to go look for skilled migrants. Use the resource that is already available at hand.

    I have been 7 years in Australia, I have seen changez every time . In 2016 the excuse was unemployment rising. In 2020, it was Morrison telling us to go home. in 2023, it is the housing crisis. Meanwhile I have a friend who was backpacker in Australia in same time as me who got a permanent residency in 2 years in Canada. I am French and I know I can have the permanent residency in Canada whilst I studied/lived/worked/paid my taxes in Queensland as a Chef which they clearly need in this state..

    Hi Karl, thanks for your informative videos. I don't understand how onshore applicants living, working, and paying taxes here contribute to housing shortage. Inflation is the underlying reason as seen in food prices and general living expenses that are off the roof. Most migrants in Australia are skilled and hard working people who make a huge contribution to this country by giving it their best, paying taxes, obeying laws, and respecting Australian values. Here in the NT businesses reduce the no. of days they are open due to worker shortages. We need people to provide services and keep the economy viable

    There’s great delay as well for 189 Visa when are they going to grant people who lodge 189 visa last January 2023. The thing is there’s a news that immigration is prioritising offshore applicants instead of onshore applicants. Hopefully they will prioritise as well other occupations outside healthcare and teaching sector. Because we pay for the visa as well.

  • @user-bf1db3ky5c
    @user-bf1db3ky5c9 ай бұрын

    Skill select data shows the non priority backlog being over 30k as of September. They did clear the priority applications on a rate of about 2k per month since July. By this rate, the waiting time shows to be well above one more incremental year. Is this a realistic estimate? Is there any probability that the current backlog would clear faster and people who lodged their 190 for non priority sectors would be granted before December? If December is the expected date for an overhaul, how likely would they clear backlogs till then? Hopefully a realistic assumption is that the ones who lodged would not be impacted by any changes in policies; otherwise this would be retrospective.

Meanwhile two of my friends got their grants two weeks after S56 one of them 190 and 189 respectively. We all RN. What could be the delay with mine? My agent suggested that Doha could wait till my baby is born early next year before granting all of us together, because they asked about baby’s due date in the S56. Why would they they wait for arrival of baby since I’m onshore?

    Hi Karl, I was working on 482 as a Software Engineer at a well known Company with headquarters in Silicon valley. I also applied for a 189 visa in Feb this year. The company did a few rounds of restructuring and I lost my job last month. Now I have just 60 days to leave Australia even though I have applied for a 189 visa, my bridging visa will not be activated. I have been applying for jobs over the last few weeks and all employers tell me the same thing "Let us know when you get your PR" or "You are the perfect candidate, if only you had a visa". What a shame, I am having to wrap up 7 years of my life and will have to start a new life back in my own country till I hear back from immigration. Could you please cover this as well in your video this week? (Commenting from a different account to stay anonymous). Reposting as I didn't get a response in the previous video.

    Thanks for sharing the information Karl. I don't see any improvement in visa processing time and there appears to be a substantial backlog too. I've been waiting for my 491 visa grant since April 2023, and some applicants have been waiting since 2022. I'm uncertain about how much longer it will take to obtain the 491 visa grant for offshore applicant in the software engineer filed. Can anyone provide insights?😕

    In this case why they would not close the 189 the time being ? It has been since last December (May was only specific to some sectors) that a real round came. Meanwhile they keep cashing on the money for the EOIs.

    @@jean-charleslemelin2970 It is such a mess right now. Thousands of EOIs piled up in the system. I’m sure that many of them belong to same applicants and others were created with false information. I don’t know how DOHA will work this out after such a silence of almost 12 months (not considering the invitation round in May). If they want to bring in most suitable/experienced ones who can contribute actively from the very beginning, they have to amend this point system with slight changes or modify their criteria while giving invitation in this year, IMHO.

    As of time of the election in May 2022, backlog of 190 was at 11k and of 189 at 4.5k (points tested). As of end of October 2023, backlog is 34.5k and 18.5k respectively according to Skill Select EOI Database. I wonder how is that ‘backlog cleared’ and processing times ‘reduced’. Also I wonder how can processing times be 9 months for 190 visa when they are processing around 2k applications per month and there is an influx of new applications coming, while the 34k+ backlog remains.

    Australia should consider adding Financial Risk occupation in their list ..I couldn't agree more that incorporating the financial risk management (Fraud/AML/Compliance) sector into the immigration policy of Australia and Western countries makes perfect sense. This move not only benefits immigrants but also enhances the economic landscape. The financial risk management field is crucial for safeguarding financial stability and driving growth. It's time to tap into the global talent pool and address skill shortages by welcoming professionals who can contribute to our financial well-being. Let's keep pushing for progressive policies!

    Recruiters strictly look for PR holders and hardly give opportunities to graduates! I am not complaining, just sharing the fact. Aussie govt must change the system and provide benefits to the students if they stay in career of their academic background. If they are benefited, they will hardly go for food delivery jobs and rather focus on their field. It will be win-win for both sides and the Aussie govt could get qualified enough people ready on their own border. Hence, it would be easier for them to get better and quality candidates for PR in the long run which will benefit Australia as a whole.

    The false hope on graduate is a joke and an huge hypocrisy. Education in Australia is expensive and not good compared to a lot of countries(what I learned in a advanced diploma in Australia paying $30,000 was the same level of what I learned in High school in France). A lot of people know that if there was not this hope of migrating permanently they would prefer going to Europe of North America. They really think their education is so good they have any value back to our countries ? Back to Europe any workplace would laugh at me if I tell them I graduated in Australia. What would be the purpose of studying in Australia if not migrating permanently?

    As an international student, I was offered a 2024 graduate role and a contract by a mid tier accounting firm which I signed around April this year. I was supposed to start the role next year Feb 2024 but the firm retracted the contract just last week when they realise that they made a mistake as they assume I was a PR or a citizen even though I told them I was an international student in the interview. Now I am about to graduate and still searching for a 2024 accounting graduate role. I told them about the graduate visa and my working rights but they just don’t care. My country is in civil war so I can’t go back either. This means I am qualified for the role and I just doesn’t have a PR or citizenship.

    We completely understand governments point of view to reduce migration, but then what was the point of giving invites to offshore people initially in Aug and Oct 2022. Why were the doors opened for offshore? Onshore people have been working in their nominated occupation and still don’t get invited, isn’t that unfair. Waiting at 95 points - 189 visa(Mechanical with more than 2 years experience) along with PY, how more uncertain can future be? Also seeing people at 65 point (offshore) getting invited, it shatters all our dreams who have lived over 3-4 years and makes us wonder why we were left out?
