April Ross and Alix Klineman gave a masterclass at the women's beach volleyball final at Shiozake Park as Team USA secured a sensational victory over Australia's Klineman and Ross. The US pair had been relentless from the start and edged out the Australian duo in the first set by 21-15. This is the first gold medal for Ross who has already won 🥈 at London 2012 with Jennifer Kessy and 🥉 at Rio 2016 with partner Walsh Jennings.
The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Summer Games took place in Japan, from July 23, 2021 to August 8, 2021.

April Ross has won a medal in every Olympics since 2012. The Americans did not win gold because they’re “lucky.”

It's a shame that Artacho and Taliqua couldn't play their best in this final. Perhaps the nerves of being in their first Olympics together affected their performance, or maybe this was just a bad day. They'd been playing brilliantly all year up to that point. In any case, a great performance from April and Alix, and what a well-deserved gold for April especially after more than ten years at the top of the sport.

Mariafe Artacho del Solar is a fantastic athlete, and my favorite women's beach volleyball player not from the USA. But April & Alix really picked on her in this match, and basically took Clancy out of much of the contest.

Clancy also played pretty poorly, maybe even worse than her partner imo. Pretty sure she had zero stuff blocks and got tooled constantly. A-Team just looked so confident and aggressive while the Aussies were on their heels for the majority of the match

April Ross played at the Olympics before with "one of the best this game has ever seen" (Kerri Walsh). I don't think she has enough achievements to be counted among that group though.

Far more impressed with Klineman in this game than Ross. It's a pity that the Canadians were knocked out, a true upset. The Australians were just absolutely outclassed.

There's a reason why Walsh (and Jen Kessey before her) wanted Ross for a partner - because she's one of the very best in the world. And her serves and cross-court play in this match were topnotch. A full medal set, a dominant performance on the way to a gold, and being chosen to partner with two of the best ever to play (plus personally selecting Klineman & basically training her to play beach)? I'd say that's more than enough achievements to number her among the greatest of all time. Oh yeah, and she & Klineman went on and won gold at the MB Open shortly after their Olympics win.
Alix and Foluke got a gold medal on the same Olympics!

I started watching volleyball after I got into training in it and a cousin of mine has been doing it for almost 10 years now she plans on going pro (in the actual full team inside a building volleyball)

A valiant effort by Australia. It's funny and amusing that Alix loses her visor @ 25:21 after she serves and runs towards the net. It's funny that she lost her visor a lot during these Olympics, but Alix played great as she and April were en route to the gold.

Its possible but for now since the support and training to the sport is not known and extensive....it will be very difficult...they should atleast win a sea games gold or join more tournaments for experience and to increase their rankings...
