Thanks for that little slice of Australian history I never knew about...and I'm an aussie myself! Subscribed!
I just discovered your channel via your first video you uploaded. I've since binge watched all of your videos, as I love this kind of content, but I dont know of anyone that makes videos similar to this. Keep up the great work, you deserve so many more subs and views. :)

Thanks for the support!
With no mention that the Royal Australian Naval College - HMAS Creswell - is located on Jervis Bay. Good idea to have the training college for naval officers close to the water - wouldn't you think ?
Great video!
Pronounced JARVIS as it is named after Admiral of the Fleet John Jervis,... which the poms pronounce JARVIS (Like they pronounce Derby as "darby')

Aussie Jim it’s pronounced jervis there was an article written about this along time ago
Just a question, but why did the federal territory need a coastline? I mean ports are great to have, but Jervis Bay is not connected directly with the ACT, so why even try to give it a port when the ocean is far from Canberra?

There isn't much reasoning behind it other than it is one of the closest (if not the closest) bay to the territory. They wanted a national port for direct imports/exports, and that they got. I believe it's also used to train the Navy.

+Morrethy I find it weird even so. I mean the U.S. Navy does have bases in the United States, but they aren't separate territories as they are part of the state that it happens to be build on. I'm sure the same applies to the Royal Australian Navy as I'm sure they have bases in other parts of the country. I guess any taxes they gain from such a port would go directly to the ACT, instead of going to the Australian states and later the Commonwealth gov't.

Great, they kicked us out of our land under Fraser government for the Navy. Glad to see the land was returned to us.
