these were the type of movies my parents were shown back in the north of England - can you imagine how these images must have seen to young parents living in dirty wet crowded england and all this was available for the princely of 10 pound for each adult, us kids travelled free.

It makes me ponder more any encounter with someone in their twilight years, if they would once sit in a park, smiling carefree, enjoying the surrounds and company... we all run the gauntlet. But none of us should forget that where we go, others have already been. I think I'll smile a lot more tomorrow, just a sign of understanding. all shades on the same circle of our lives...

No kid would do that near water.Bare feet or thongs (& yes, they were around in '61) All the people in the "cultural " part look like they are from Nedlands or Dalkieth, & the bloke having a meal outdoors wearing a cravat!!,There are much better images of Perth in that era, like the "Lost Perth " ones.

The government films from this time frequently omitted Indigenous people and culture in their films dealing with "general" Australia. Where Indigenous people were included they were regarded more as a novelty and redundant culture. Interestingly, Ian Dunlop, the director of this film would go on a few years later to push the restrictions placed on the government film units and create two excellent and highly regarded series involving Indigenous people and culture; People Of The Australian Western Desert and Yirrkala.
