Australia 'on the brink' of break-up amid Voice to Parliament push

The break-up of Australia is no longer a far fetched idea but one of the "current political possibilities", Quadrant Editor and historian Keith Windschuttle argues.
The Albanese Labor government has proposed an Indigenous Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Constitution.
The Voice to Parliament was a key element of the 2017 Uluru Statement from the Heart and called for an elected Indigenous advisory body to the Federal Parliament.
The Labor Government brought the issue to the centre of its agenda when Mr Albanese declared on election night that there would be a referendum in his first term.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese addressed concerns on the move and assured the establishment of the Voice would not act as another chamber of parliament.
Mr Windschuttle said the push by Indigenous activists behind the Voice is all about Aboriginal "sovereignty".
"A lot of the Aboriginal activists, who are now the leaders of what you might call the Aboriginal political class, have been saying 'we never ceded sovereignty, the country belongs to us'," he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.
"They think that people like us who were born here and whose grandparents were born here are still usurpers.
"It's all about sovereignty."
He also said the break-up of Australia is no longer a distant concept but "on the brink" of really happening.

Man, as a black person from South Africa things like this make me sad. And I've been seeing it everywhere even here in South Africa where the government seeks to sow division through race. It hits different when you have white friends and family too because you can clearly see the government is becoming very biased against white people for things that their ancestors did. I cannot, for the life of me, blame and hate on someone who's done nothing wrong to me, just because they share the same skin tone as those who committed atrocities to others in the past. Its like wanting to shoot a baby in the face for what it's dad did. It's wrong man. The government should be uniting us even more instead of what they're doing now. That's the end to all this racism stuff because i can tell you, it's very hard to hate and despise someone in your own family or team. And as a black person it's really exhausting because people expect you to pick a side and it's like NO DUDE!!! I'm on the side of the human race! So yeah it sucks man. They should be making us equal and united instead of oppressing and dividing us🥺😔😔😔

I'm no anarchist but the older i get the more i see the actual source of our problems in ever society throughout recorded history. tyrannical government and spoiled rich men like schwab who wants us to all eat bugs and own nothing. while he owns everything, the fat old nazi swine..... this is how fat, worthless, parasitical rich people amuse themselves. never forget it.

There purpose is division itself. In some schools where they say, "black people only room" and the ruling powers pretend like you get your own room because we are punishing the whites. But, where they are really going with this is, "black water fountain", "White only" water fountain. The outcome is the same no matter who the powers that be say are special, oppressed, privileged, the outcome of division is the same. Imagine if schools taught, "We are are all the flowers of one garden, the fruits of one tree, the leaves of one branch. We are the family of God."

As my wife and I are indigenous people of North America, we consider this as absurd. We are a conquered people for almost 200 years now, and we are assimilated. When we look at our relatives who took the White mans welfare, and live on the reservation, all we see is sloth and substances abuse, and not progress. The rest of our families, that stayed off the reservation are mostly well educated professionals. Wife and I with the most minimal of education with only a masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering. The rest are all PhD's !!! We still respect our native cultures, but with out our assimilation over the generations we would be worthless drunken paupers living on tribal lands. Indian gaming is a farce, as the tribes that host gamboling are simply the white man's pawns. They get about 1% of the profit, and the Whites get 99%. This isn't a small amount, about $10,500 for each tribal member, per month, even they youngest child. Just enough to keep most of them drunk or stoned and un happy, as they now seek to limit membership in the certain tribes and Clans to keep others out. This is what the White mans money has gotten them !!! So NO THANKS !!! we have always made our own money, and are beholding to no one for what we worked to acquire. The United States as we see it is, One Nation for all, and as such is a Nation for all who believe as we do, and support our government and it's institutions. All our men folks have served, or are serving in our militaries, and have for over 400 years, even before America became it's own country. It was still our country. We fought on both sides of every war, until the Spanish American war. Both sides of the revolutionary war, and both sides of the Civil war, plus all the little Indian wars in between. We are Americans, who happen to come from indigenous backgrounds. Separate reservations never work, and leave our Nation weak and divided for no good reason. We all benefit from our colonization, by our colonizers, so we have the best of both worlds. We don't live in the past, or believe foolish notions, like the return of the Buffalos, or dead pony soldiers falling from the sky. I know that our Aboriginal friends in Australia, or our Maori folks in New Zealand had problems with colonization, just like we did. But that's past and gone. Our future, and our children's futures are with the majority culture, which is mostly White. We have no issues with our Nations multicultural people. We really have no other way of understanding, as America has always been this way for many generations. For Christ sakes !!! it's the 21st century !!! Time to move on , and move up !!! Now we have potential enemies form other countries like China, and Russia, who would take our land. At this point we need to stand together, and stand strong against these potential invaders. That or learn Chinese or Russian !!! LOL !!! Now is not the time in history for a divided Nation !!! We have never been discriminated against, because we work, and are valued members of our community, serving in technical fields. what we do makes us who we are, not only as a people, but as individuals. America is great, just like Australia, because our citizens make our countries great. A lot of this separatist movement is starting to remind me of the BLM scam, and fraudulent misrepresentation, who wants that crap !!! I'll bet these folks all have PhD's in some sort of cultural studies, or gender studies, and not real degrees in real things like STEM !!! Cultural and ethnic divisions are just foolish and are used to con people out of their money. This WOKE shit needs to stop, as it does no one any good. Tim

Also, it's not as if what we call 'civilization' was only a phenomenon of the Eastern Hemisphere. Had Europeans stayed home, the North American tribes might have had a couple of centuries' reprieve. Without Cortez to tap Montezuma on the shoulder and cut in, there might simply have been different conquerors. I remember reading some article years ago about a tribe in, I think, Bolivia which would hold a "dance of the invaders" in which participants wore masks representing modern white Bolivians, Conquistadors, and---- Incas.

Seeing as Thorpe hates the queen so much, she is, by default, ineligible to practice The Westminster system. If they want to secede and govern separate to the rest of the country, then they can do it without the luxury of modern infrastructure and western practices. They can hold court out in the wild just like their ancestors did and they can mete out punishment the exact same way. News flash to Ms Thorpe; women will hold almost ZERO executive power as ancient aboriginal history was incredibly mysoginystic. So go ahead Lydia, put your money where your mouth is. @vanya And yet here in England, we are constantly exposed to vitriol from (some) Irish people. In my 63 years, I have experienced it fairly often. It's amusing, as I had nothing to do with it, neither did any of my past family. Am I supposed to hate the Japanese and the Germans for what they did to members of my family that I actually shared my life with? It's crazy, I actually like the Germans and the Japanese. People can't move on.

@vanya There are parts of the UK still untouched by the idea of certain people moving in. Certainly Cornwall, and Devon to a large extent, even Somerset and a fair part of Dorset. If you're a lot braver for the basic life, the Channel islands like Alderney are exactly like England was 50 years ago. Beautiful, if a bit windswept. Wife and I are currently giving Alderney a close look. Even the Isle of Wight is still basically untouched. For all its faults, I love England, and I'm assured by talking to tourists that there are few if any places like it. But you do have to seek it out. London is absolutely dreadful. I wouldn't live there if I was paid to. It is seriously horrible.

We have the same and worse issues in Canada, and I say that as a Metis person. The government here has a long and ugly history AND present with First Nations Peoples in spite of Treaties - sometimes because of them. In my view, the BEST thing Native People's in Canada could do today is ditch the Treaty System and build a new relationship with modern Canada. Instead they are trapped in a paternalistic, patronizing system that is grossly wasteful, inefficient and makes it impossible (there are many treaties and therefore exceptions) for many many Native people to EVER escape poverty. In the Americas there were recognizable Nations which the French, Spanish and British made treaties with - and not just here. Australians only have to look over the NZ for an example close to home. Australian Aboriginals of today wanting to retroactively claim sovereignty is loopy in the extreme. They were not "Nations" when the Europeans showed up. My saying that might raise the hackles of some, but IF they WERE Nations, why is Australia the one place where the British made no treaties? The reason is obvious. Equally obvious is the game this woman and many others like her are playing. Her "individual sovereignty" evidently does not impact the choices she herself makes. She chose to run for office. She chose to accept election. She chose to make a mockery of her own oath. All because "I'm a sovereign individual" - and YET, does she LEAVE? No. She stays. Because she is a race grifter, pure and simple. If the Australian Parliament had ANY integrity or self respect it would give this loudmouth poser the boot.

@@jimskirtt5717 well said. Britain invented the modern world and much of what we hold dear. They made flourishing civilised democracies in the place of backwater tribes. Britain, more than any other, is responsible for the outlawing of slavery globally (a goal briefly achieved but is now undone in some places). Britain brought the rule of law, successful institutions, technological greatness, ending famine in all but the most extraordinary scenarios, and I could (and rightly should) go on. But now in the name of woke tolerance people are agitating for a return to uncivilised tribalism and the end of all that was good about Britain. Let this be clear: wokeism, though secular, has all the markings of an unorganised yet powerful and pious religion. The comparison with the worst of medieval Christianity is shocking. Wokeism has witch trials, self-flaggelation, penance, heresy, martyrs, priests who get sickeningly wealthy from spreading the word of their god ‘intersectionalism, crt and the climate agenda’, et cetera. It is as though our once beautiful and glorious former empire is under attack from a hostile faith through a new reformation, except this pseudo-faith is blindly self-harming and contagious. It makes me incredibly sad to see Britain and her old imperial family die to this woke rot. Almost every aspect of our society is in massive decline be it our education, our government, family life, crime, social cohesion, etc and now it has been told that the Royal Air Force has effectively stopped hiring white men in the name of intersectional inclusion. I fear the damage runs far deeper than what the common person realises and is now at least partially irreversible. I’m sorry to dump this on you but for honestly this stuff gets me down. I hope Australia doesn’t fall to indigenous separatism and I hope people find the strength to stand up for what they believe in and not fear being called racist or what have you by Britain-hating ideologues.

The Australian Government Law Reform Commission 'Outcomes to Date' Review of the Native Title Act is very revealing. The interview will be branded as alarmist and unreasonable, however a visit to the mentioned Government department will reveal that it is not alarmist but almost 'fait accompli'. I was born in Australia, my parents and grandparents were born in Australia. My ancestors arrived on the First Fleet, dragged here in chains! I am feeling like my heritage is being taken away from me. I'm made to feel ashamed and I'm told I'm not a proper Australian.

Tell if needed you're ancestors lost the war got taking over the same as those same ancestors of yours used to do to the tribe over the hill, so to bad for them but you and me both no not of those times

every human being on this earth NEEDS land simply to live, let alone stay alive ... ALL land and its resources is owned by the community ... as long as you support and share in the economic profits of the ancient slaver practice of landlordism, you are a slaver.... theres a distinction between being a custodian of the land and claiming ownership ... however to claim ownership, then deliberately force some in the community to pay other individuals for the right just to inhabit land to live is another matter entirely.. the land and its resources are owned by the community, yet successive governments have become so corrupted they have stolen the value of the land and resources for their own personal gain and for the gain of their financial backers by using the general ignorance of the well meaning majority ... the ill effects of their deliberate slaver policies has resulted in ever distortionary tax policies that serve no benefit tosociety except to force every other taxpayer to give up more of the product of their labour to cover the shortfall in revenue they do not charge landlords for their profiteering ... don't be fooled that government revenue is spent on relabelling homeless people renters, as every cent of that goes to landlords ... do you retards think people are suddenly going to stop needing a place to live ? as if a place to live is equaivalent to wqanting a new pair of shoes ? do you retards comprehend what a priority is ? do you think it costs less money to buy a house outright, or to rent it in perpetuity and give landlords extra tax breaks as well as increased rents by artificially controlling the vacancy rates ? do you think the realestate market and the banks who profit from the investor loans have a bvested interest in ensuring rents are kept artificially higher by ensuring there is always an undersupply of affordable housing ? do you morons not see that supporting such deliberate and willfull economic policies you are supporting slavery... 1/3 of the population is subjected to YOUR SLAVER POLICIES... its not just the originals ... WAKE UP RETARDS ..

And if, Heaven forbid, Australia was invaded, the Aboriginals would be leaning against their gate saying’This is aboriginal land, you can’t come on here.’ And when the tanks role over them they will be pleading with the Australian military, ‘Come save us! Come save us! We’re all Australians brother!!!’
