Happy 27th birthday to Aurora on Thursday, the 15th! If you thought this performance was emotional and captivating, wait until you see the Nobel Peace Prize version. It's one of the best performances I've ever seen. It's truly next level.

Aurora, singer, song writer, charismatic performer, actress, storyteller, dancer, all round artist par excellence. There is so much more for you to experience and it is not all dark and difficult songs. Aurora has written many achingly beautiful songs on a range of issues. There are some spectacular feel good songs ( such as "Daydreamer"), some love songs ("Exist For Love"), an anthem to the planet ("The Seed") an exquisite ode to human existence ("Dance On The Moon") and so much more. When you get to the HAIK concert (filmed in the forest where Aurora played in her childhood), you will see that Aurora really is a woodland creature at heart. However, you should also watch some of her interviews and Tik Tok posts to witness her amazing, multi faceted personality.

Aurora Aksnes singing The murder song 54321 at the Nobel peace prize 2015 concert in Norway is way more intimate with the acoustic guitar guy singing together with her is breathtaking. She doesn't spare her feelings on that stage. 👍 Best regards from Norway 🇳🇴

This concert is a masterpiece, pure and simple. Every time she sings a song it is different, this rendition so different from the earlier one at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert. That's why live is best.

@poolhallshark: I agree the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize performance, a stripped-down duet with guitarist Odd Martin Skålnes, is the best way to hear Aurora Aksnes' 'Murder Song' for the first time. In addition, her lyrics have a special resonance because of the event and the audience. The same applies to Debbie's choice of "It Happened Quiet' from the same Nidaros Cathedral concert ... Aurora's version for 'The Current' partnered by the wonderful Silja Sol is better, IMHO. As you well know, although others may not, Angelina Jordan was born in Norway ten years after Aurora, but I have always argued that they have a common cultural and educational heritage which unites them in many ways. They have both been nurtured in a social milieu which encouraged and permitted their free spirited growth as girls. As young adults, they have followed a similar path into music careers with the same desire to use their public platform as a means of bringing about change by transmitting their beliefs directly to a world audience. Yes she occasionally does a cover. She writes her own songs, writes the music, and does her own productions. She read an article about (I believe a husband who killed his wife) someone in pain who wished to die. She is a poet, philosopher, singer, songwriter, and dancer. I love Angelina, but find it hard to separate Aurora. I will leave this world listening to both.

Quite the performer, isn't she? Yes, she writes all her own music and lyrics. A few of her early songs were written before she was 12 years old, although she wrote this song when she was 18. She considers it a tragic love story. Great reaction!

Wonderful reaction, thank you. Yes, she has so many songs and they are not generic mainstream crap, he or she loves me, he or she doesn't love me, cheated on me, you get the picture. Her songs, which she calls her children, have substance, she shines light on dark subjects, she isn't called a soul healer for nothing. She is my all time favorite multi talented artist. I call all of her performances art, she is magical.. see you on the next Aurora reaction.

Hello again from Germany ! I just came back home from work and saw your video... and I have to say it was one of the most emotional reactions I have seen to this, or any other Aurora song. I can totally understand your reactions and emotions to this masterpiece and it shows me, how much Aurora "sucks" you in and caprivates you already after three songs you've reacted to. About the song : Aurora wrote the lyrics all herself, and composed the music in collaboration with other composers. For this special event, the song was specially arranged by another musician / composer, whose name I forgot, but you can see it under the song name, when it occurs at the beginning. Aurora was inspired by a local newspaper article, in which a man couldn't stand to see his wife suffer from an incurable illness, and then killed her for mercy, to release her from all the pain she's been going through. And Aurora tells this story from the view of the victim, in the most impressive way possible. But you should also check out the other popular live performance of this song from the Nobel Peace Prize concert 2015... a stripped down version for two voices and a guitar only. Her facial expression is simply unbelievable ! If you want to continue the journey of the Nidarosdoman concert, do "Life on Mars ?" next... a hauntingly beautiful cover of that David Bowie classic from 1974. And YES, Aurora DID get back up again after being "murdered"... for the last song of this wonderful concert, which is... "Life on Mars ?" Best wishes from Germany : Gerry

Aurora writes her own music. Looking at your reaction videos so far they are all her own music. 🔮 Here she sings as a “ghost” looking back on her Murder, as I think she also does in “It Happened Quiet”, though it’s not made so explicit there.

Man, oh man can she bring the emotion or what? She's an incredible storyteller...I love the way she uses her whole body to express herself too. A great artist. She also had another effect on me...she made me re-visit Björk's music...when I was young and only into metal, I didn't like her music. Now, because I discovered that she was an influence of Aurora's, I am really enjoying her music as well. Cheers!

Yes Deb, it's dark, and beautyful, and poetic. She trained dancing from age 6 to 16 and thougt she would become a pro dancer but then her singing/her songs got known and it took off. The way she moves and uses her body trough the songs is flavored by that dancing. Yes, writes the lyrics, composes, plays piano/keyboards, produces, directs her videoes (sometimes with good helpers). She also have done some fab covers, usually in her own way, and some 'on the fly' with very short time to rehearse.

Greetings from Scotland! O.K. I can see to type again now! This song always destroys me when she sings it! Aurora will be 27yo tomorrow 15th! For me, she is the only other absolutely unique female singer in this world right now! She was 18 years old when she wrote both the lyrics and the music. It's based on something she heard on the radio, and developed this song around it very quickly. She said it was a very sad, and bloody! It takes a very special mind with a very different view on this world to create something as profound as this! The emotion and the images it conjures up are incredibly vivid! One-of-a-kind, Aurora! A truly extraordinary young lady!

Hello, great reaction again. Thank you. Most of AURORA's songs are her own. There are some covers, but then she interpreted them in her own way (a recommendation see below). This is probably the saddest love song I've ever heard. A man shoots his wife to end her suffering. Can love be bigger and more painful at the same time than in this story? AURORA manages to make this pain palpable with her voice and her movements. You have seen AURORA's eyes. She wasn't on stage. She was somewhere else. You saw how deeply she was thinking about these two people, that she sometimes shook herself uncontrollably. I believe that she is not conscious of her movements. She's so into the story in her head that she's doing the moves in the story. I heard that AURORA was horrified by these movements when she saw the recording of the performance. That means for me that she did it unconsciously. Her empathy must be beyond measure. She spreads all her feelings that she has in this moment in front of us and lets us look into her heart and soul. There is no other way I can explain that almost everyone who saw this performance was affected by this story. AURORA is more than a storyteller, more than a singer. AURORA is a true artist. Here is a quite different version of the song - also live. Listen to them in a quiet minute. - Murder song (5,4,3,2,1) - The 2015 Nobel Peace Prize Concert - kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJxktbmNhtq-qNo.html This is from an interview with Aurora: "First of all, I have a really vivid imagination. You know that these things may be happening to someone right now. It's kind of a terrifying thought. I just had to get that thought out of my head - and that's why I wrote this song. But the two characters are actually just made up in my head. I've written many songs about them - maybe I'll make a book with them." And in another interview: It’s just fascinating that some people can have in them the desire to kill while some people cannot pick a flower without feeling bad. That's about this I wrote 'Murder Song'. How can a man kill someone he loves and it happens often in the world. But he doesn't really understand what he did, it's a very complicated story. Her, she didn't want to be in this world anymore, and she knew that this man would do anything for her. She asks him to kill her and he said: 'Ok, I love you, I would do anything for you.' After he killed her, he became sad because she didn't move anymore and he didn't understand where she went. He didn't understand why she left and he start crying. And it is sad, because for the rest of his life, he will not understand and he will be sad." ----------------------------- If you want to hear AURORA sing acapella - Nature Boy (acapella) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y2GA1qWbgLjVhLA.html - very special - concert Melkweg-Amsterdam-The Netherlands 2018-02-28 Here is a David Bowie cover by AURORA - Aurora - «Life on Mars» (David Bowie) - kzread.info/dash/bejne/nX5km5eMYLDTnqQ.html If you don't know the song, listen to the original first - kzread.info/dash/bejne/c45_xc5tXdfJpdI.html ----------------------------- There are also two very sad songs by AURORA. - Why did you have to go - kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZaJhxq-xkqzXeqQ.html She wrote it for a friend from school who died in a car accident when she was 18. She only sang the song at the funeral. But the sound was recorded and the girl's mother is said to have published it on KZread. They have chosen good pictures and films for the video. AURORA didn't actually want to release it. I'm sure you've rarely heard anything so sad. - Little boy in the grass - kzread.info/dash/bejne/Y5-duJlpZLHKj6w.html This is about the terrorist attack in Oslo and on the island of Utøya on July 22, 2011. An assassin killed 8 people in Oslo. Two hours later he shot 69 young people on the island. It was a Labor Party youth camp. It took 90 minutes. A friend of AURORA was among the victims. I assume that these early experiences characterised AURORA and contributed to the initially very sad songs. Have a nice day and Greetings from Germany

Aurora is at the pinnacle of beauty for me, her attention to detail is what draws you in, her voice wanders around in such a captivating and natural way, her lyrics are quite often minimal but extremely thoughtful, and she speaks them slowly so you actually listen, like a mother explaining something to a child. I enjoyed your Aurora reactions so far, I would suggest Lucky from the same concert, or the music video to The River, or The Seed, alternatively check out All Is Soft Inside at the KEXP, all were amazing, she has so many stunning songs and her live performances are better because you can watch how she expresses

She started to do music from 6 and English lyrics from 9 (all by herself even without knowledge of her parents up to 14). Music was her way of expressing emotions. On her first album there are song which se wrote when was 11 (f.e. Runaway) or when was 9 (Lucky). BTW: I recommend to check song "Lucky" from the same concert (whole concert is like 1h of pure magic). It is also mindblowing that so young person write song like Lucky about such topic. Ps. PHS: Here is what she said in one interview: In an interview, Aurora was asked if the song was inspired by a personal experience, she said: "I just think it's fascinating how people can be the same people, how you and I need oxygen, can have children, need to be embraced, we need food, water, that we smile at us... we need the same things because we are people. And it's just fascinating that some people can have in them the desire to kill while some people cannot pick a flower without feeling bad. That's about this I wrote 'Murder Song'. It also is why you should only listen to Aurora's live material. Lucky, from that same concert is my favorite of hers. In that song (Lucky), she captures you in the very first word, which is just "When", but it's like, "okay, here we go."

Everyone who has had to have an animal put down has a flavour of how the man with the gun would feel. Even if he killed the woman for wrong reasons it still broke his heart. She is dancing in the wind, he is holding her body with the world shattering around his soul.

I prefer the Nobel peace award ceremony version, probably cause that was the first version of Murder Song that I heard. But she’s an amazing singer/artist/performer without a doubt.

This song is the first part of, it happened quiet. In "murder song" one partner kills the other & in "it happened quiet" the dead partner comes back to haunt her abusive partner in his dreams slowly making him go crazy.

I suppose it would be silly to do her singing the same song again however, for your own edification, you really need to see her performance of this song at live at the Nobel concert. you wont regret it!

The Nobel Peace Price 2015 live version is actually alot better. ALOT more emotional, personal, delicate and disturbing, and she was younger also (I think). Prepare to sob. You should do a reaction to that too. Just saying. Cheers.

Yeah this is an amazing song I had not heard of her before your reactions Norway certainly has some talent I guess Aurora is holding on to Europe while Angelina has came over here to conquer America.

Thanks I'm glad to hear that hopefully they both visit Florida where I live one day so I could see them live. I'm guessing her base is still in Norway though whereas if I understand it right Angelina and her family have moved to LA and I imagine they will probably get dual citizenship. It'd be great to see them do a tour together though maybe that's too much to ask.

Binge watched all your Aurora reactions and loved every one of them. The only thing I would suggest is to visit other live performances of her's. You definitely need to watch 5,4,3,2,1 - Murder song at the Nobel Prize Concert in 2015. I think it's her best verion of this song. and as for "it happened quiet" definitely watch the version "live at the current". Also the best one for this song IMHO. But for now I suggest you stick to live performances of songs you haven't heard at different venues (that's not to say this is not a great concert, but it only shows one of her many sides). There are probably plenty of song suggestions in the comments but I'll still add one to the collection with a positive song of a performance that shows her silly side: AURORA - "Queendom" | Indie88 Hidden Studio Sessions kzread.info/dash/bejne/pI6Yq8-KlpqYl5c.html

Great reaction as always! But, you have a tendency to pick the wrong versions of the songs😉, This song is a "must see" from the "Nobel Piece Price concert" version, and the song ( It Happened Qiuet) you should definitely done " The Current version". Both are soo much better. See them by your self at least, and I'm sure you will agree. Love from Norway🥰

Tendency to pick the wrong versions? I actually disagree, yes she has different versions, but they’re beautiful in their own way 😊 I think this version of Murder Song is very beautiful and dramatic, and the one from the Nobel peace prize concert is very intimate and beautiful 👍 I love all versions of this song, and every song from this concert is epic😍

Aurora is very much a live artist, don`t get me wrong her music videos are good, but her performance live is great, also her live shows are very different, this same song but at the 2015 nobel prize concert is VERY good, even better than this version imo.
