She is not performing, she is the song. She feels it and it shows in her body and face. Many of her intense performances end with you seeing her coming back into our world. This Concert is a masterpiece. The Nobel Peace Prize concert was her first mini tour de force.

A song about domestic violence that leads to the death of the victim. Either the victim returns as a ghost and chases the perpetrator or it is his guilty conscience that does not let him sleep anymore.

Nice, now catch Aurora doing "It Happened Quiet" at The Current, and see what I consider to be the best live performance video I have ever seen in terms of quality of video, quality of audio, AND quality of performance. In fact, this goes for all 3 songs she did in that session.

I believe the "feathers falling out of the pillow as if time is standing still" represents the aftermath of the bullet going through it. And that this is connected to her song Churchyard.

  • @corrob

while she never explains what exactly happens there, and ist is deffinately a follow up to churchyard, i can see your interpretation vivid;y, mine was that the pillow was being ripped as she used it in a defensive manner, and then thrown through the window, since the perpetrator is still in the apt. later for her to haunt, makes me think he was not incarcerated for the murder, but let off by saying she jumped. either way, interpretation can go any which way the listener imagines, and that is part of her lyrical genious.

Very nice reaction🤗 And you’re spot on with your interpretation👍 finally someone listen and understand the song🙏😊 This song was inspired by domestic violence, and in the end she comes back to haunt the one that hurt/killed her🥺💕 Fortunately Aurora has not experienced this herself This was her first performance of this song “It Happened Quiet” was released on her EP “Infections of a different kind step 1” 2018 ✌️❤️

She was 21 (and 4.5 months) in this concert on Nov 2nd 2017, and she will be 27 in 9 days on June 15th 2023. She has hinted that this song is connected to another song presumably Murder Song, but she rarely wants to be too specific, because she wants everyone to find their own meanings in the lyrics. Here is some info about the song from Aurora wiki: "Aurora said she started writing this song the first day after the release of her debut album. It possibly talks about rape and revenge, but this depends on the person who listens to the song, as Aurora stated that the songs of this album can have different meanings to everyone depending on how deep you dive into them. In a Q&A on Twitter, she explained that this song is a part of a big story about a complicated relationship, It's inspired by domestic violence. It is speculated this same guy is the one she was begging on her knees in 'I Went Too Far'."

Holding a concert in Norways largest cathedral was frowned upon first from the catholic community in Norway at this point but when Aurora was finally given the permission to do the concert, nobody showed regrets. The mood and acoustics in the many centuries old cathedral made magic along with Auroras voice and that very talented orchestea.

Her songs are open for interpretation and always has meaningful message. And this one is about domestic abuse and violence which probably ended badly. Great song and she ha a lot of amazing songs and performances. She is natural, self tought, versatile and multi-talented artist. I also love how her performances are often "limited editions" of her songs as you never know what variant of song she will sing and sometimes she changes some details and sometimes she make much different versions of the songs with different vibes, settings, arrangements. I would recommend LuckY from the some Nidarosdomen concert. It is a song she wrote when was 9 years old (at last partially, as far i know she finished it a little later). It is about important topic and sounds incredible. And for me is min-blowing that such song with such topics could be made by such young person.

Eyes blue and hollow As it rains against their will Feathers falling out of the pillow As if time is standing still I can't remember much more But I know it happened quiet So quiet Words falling out through the window All that remains is a silent call Is the earth coloured red? As I land like a flower on the meadow Love is wild You fell apart Like a stone can be broken into sand A thousand pieces Spread across a crying land And you can't remember that day But you know it happened quiet So quiet Words falling out through the window All that remains is a silent call Is the earth coloured red? As I land like a flower on the meadow Love is wild Ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh, ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh Ooh ooh ooh ooh, ooh, ooh Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Are your dreams as dead as they seem? Don't you speak over my voice I will return from the shadows And I'll bleed in your bed Turn it red Like the ground outside your window Love is wild

The Current version is the more popular one, because it's so intimate, and better features her awesome longtime backup vocalist, Silja Sol, but this version is very underrated, and is even more impressive vocally, IMO. I go back and forth on which version I like best, because they're both awesome in their own way. You should watch The Current version at least on your own time, though, as it's very special, and popular amongst vocal coach reactors. If you think she's expressive here, wait till you watch Murder Song from the Nobel Peace Prize concert. Truly one of the greatest performances I've ever seen, and the one that made me a fan for life.

Hi there again from Germany... thank you so much for coming back to Aurora's most beautiful concert and to one of my absolute favourite Aurora songs. And again, it was such a heartfelt and lovely reaction.... and you totally understood the meaning of the song and described the lyrics perfectly. You mentioned "Murder song" ? Well, that should be the next song to react to ! Either from this concert, or the "stripped down" version for two voices and an acoustiv guitar from the 2015 Nobel peace price concert. Both versions are disturbingly beautiful. In the 2015 version, it's Aurora's voice and especially her facial expression, what impresses the most, whereas the Nidarosdomen version convinces through its arrangement AND her performance. Feel free to choose which version you want to react to... or react to BOTH versions and compare them both. Then you can decide yourself, which version you prefer. Best wishes from Germany : Gerry

You will like the murder song, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 I love this concert. The whole concert. (You should give it a try lol) And that's one of my favorit song of her. But i prefer the "live at current" version. It's just voice and guitar (and yet I love the orchestration of the version you shared with us). In it, her voice is so pure, it's almost as if she's whispering in your ear (before you turn up the volume). And then comes the ecstasy, the sublime, the incredibly perfect harmonization with Silja (a vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist in her band, before). By the way, she is also present in this concert (but we can't hear her here). Frankly, this current version is just extraordinarily perfect... (and the one we've just heard is already... so, can you imagine?) kzread.info/dash/bejne/a4lhsJiFod3KebA.html Give it a chance, even if it's only for you :) I loved that react.

According to GENIUS: "“It Happened Quiet” is the fifth song on AURORA’s sophomore album. It was performed for the first time on December 11, 2017 for a Christmas concert in Nidarosdomen, Norway (the video). The song describes how Aurora felt within a sad and very complicated relationship. It talked about the happy moments they shared and how whenever they were behind closed doors, the relationship developed into something far more drastic and terrifying. Aurora expresses how her partner always pictured the world as such a dark place that all they wanted to do is protect her from the outside world. What this person did always resulted in violence for the love they had for Aurora, but every time things like that happened, she was hurting. Over time, she talks about how if she carried on being in the relationship any longer, than she would hurt and bleed until there was nothing left of her but a constant reminder of what that person lost. The song seems to have connection with the song “Murder Song” from her first album “All My Demons Gretting Me As A Friend” Having the same story, where that person kills her lover The song “It Happened Quiet” has more hints about what happened, but still has the same story. Being one of the saddest songs of the EP. or album of the artist, with that reference of the murder with a very peculiar word “Love Is Wild”"

It’s correct that this song was first performed at this concert, but it has nothing to do with Aurora, it’s nothing she has experienced herself.😊❤️ In an interview she said that this song was inspired by domestic violence, and in the end she comes back to haunt the one that hurt/killed her. @@LuiGrande I’m not a fan of A.J, but huge fan of Aurora 😉 So I know a lot about Aurora, and unfortunately Genius doesn’t always write correct things about her. And even though it has a lot of likes don’t always mean it’s correct. “It Happened Quiet” and “Murder Song” doesn’t have the same meaning, because one song is about domestic violence and a violent and bloody murder (against her will), while “Murder Song” is about mercy killing because she’s sick and doesn’t want to live anymore, and she asks him to kill her (so it’s her will to die) 😊

Hello, you have chosen a very good song. This is a masterpiece. She was 21 yo. I find it interesting that the lyrics are so sad (violence in relationships leading to death) and on the other hand the music is very beautiful and doesn't give me that sad feeling. The music is more soothing. This contrast struck me in many of her sad songs. Does she want to spread hope? You can change something. You can't let it get to that point. And then everything is better. An invitation to change something, to change yourself. You have it in your own hands. Is that what this contrast is supposed to do? In a 2020 concert with the Bergen Philarmonic Orchestra, AURORA said the following introductory words to the song: "There are many things out there. That's happening in the dark and in the quiet. When no one stare to help and no one can tell the story. I don't know much but I do know that every voice deserves to be heard. And I do know that every life deserves to be seen. I'm carrying my sisters’ tooth around my neck. I believe it brings me luck. As you can see it is white or a kind of yellow white. Like all our skeletons. We are all the same colour in the inside. The next song we will do is called "It happened quiet". And it's only one of those stories that happened in the dark. But there are many." --------------------------------------- You should also check out the songs she played at the HAIK concert. The concert took place in the forest where she played as a child. AURORA is very close to nature. And that was the perfect place for a concert. She sees things at such a young age that other people don't understand in their entire lives. HAIK- Interview ------------------------- - Interviewer: Aurora, how would you describe your upbringing? - AURORA: I grew up in a very free environment. I was given the freedom to be exactly what I wanted. When I brought home some fantasy friends, Mom and Dad covered them on the table. I got respect when I didn't want to celebrate my birthday. "OK, that's fine." No pressure to change me from home. No need for tags or diagnostic or... Just completely free. I didn't think much about what I was. Why I felt a little different. I didn't think much of it. It's strange when people have to think about something being wrong. - Interviewer: When did you realize that others might see you as a little different? - AURORA: I didn't think of it until that in 7th grade, maybe. Then it was something that we took such a Mensa (IQ) test. I remember being teased by someone for getting very good results. They said it was because... And then they laughed a little to themselves. I wondered why they laughed at it. Then they laughed, because they thought they "understood" that I was autistic. Because I was weird. It was probably the first time someone laughed at me. The worst thing was that I didn't understand why it was funny. So I didn't understand why they laughed. And it was very disgusting to notice that they realized I didn't understand why they laughed. I felt very outside, in such a way that I didn't understand. Or that they assumed I didn't understand. Just like I couldn't understand that they were rude. Don't get me wrong and think I had a bad childhood. I had a very good childhood. Had a great time with myself. More like that on the inside. I felt like I didn't belong. No matter how much I tried. But I am put together in a way that makes it go really well. Sorry, but I don't want to reveal more. You should see it for yourself and let yourself be surprised. AURORA in HER forest - grandiose. Captivating is the perfect word to describe her...I agree 100% Please check out Leprous - Castway Angels one of these days...I think you'll be impressed by Einar Solberg's voice. Cheers!

Yes, she is such an emotional and expressive performer. Thanks for sharing! And yes, do check out her amazing "Murder Song" performance at the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize concert: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qJxktbmNhtq-qNo.html&pp=ygUdYXVyb3JhIG11cmRlcnMgc29uZyA1IDQgMyAyIDE%3D

isn't she so special....? she has the amazing ability to connect to everyone's emotional core....this song is dark - about a complicated love affair that may be "dead"......."are your dreams as dead as they seem? I bleed in your bed, turn it red like the ground outside your window".........."love is wild" and not in a good way........

At the concert, AURORA interpreted the songs differently. This is very unusual when you know the great original versions. This is especially true for "The River". Very unusual - but absolutely great. Maybe even better to express the meaning of the song. This is a great concert.

@@olafwiese6728 exactly, much slower tempo that made it seem like a totally different song. I'm a grown @ss man but I'd be lying if I said that version of the river doesn't make me feel a little bit weepy 😅

Debbie, the word I use for her is Haunting. I prefer Angelina’s purity of voice, but the best Voice of all is Sissel. She did most of the Titanic track, and is perfect with the Mormon Tabernacle choir in 2019.

Haunting is a good word to describe this song. The clarity in Aurora's voice is the epitome of purity, which is what I love about her. Not a fan of bluesy jazz voices, they tend to sound raspy to me and their words tend to blend together, which, to me, is the opposite of purity. Anyway, have a nice day.
