@@LysergiCoyotl WAR includes defense in the equation. I’d say that wRC+ is the best metric for strictly offensive production. It factors in several things like park factors, situational hitting etc.

Ichiro. what an amazing genius.
Ichiro is even more kind and humble than you’d expect! I’ve been able to meet him a couple times and he even signed a ball for me, which he almost never does
Ichiro also played with the Miami (Florida) Marlins. We loved him. He was great.
No one like Ichiro. Great ballplayer. Great sense of humor. Speaks English very well.
I’ll never forget walking by Ichiro when I was like 6 or 7. I was brought onto the field at Veteran’s stadium to play tug of war against the mascots between innings at a Phillies-Mariners game. I walked by Ichiro bc he was on deck and he patted me on the shoulder when I was walking off the field. Awesome guy.

My mom grew up in the east bottoms of Kansas City. After the second time the family dry goods store was burned down in riots, they moved out to Raytown. I spent few summers there, and it wasn't the heat that did me in, it was the humidity. It felt like a steam sauna.

I saw Bob Costas in real life at the Olympic Complex in Jamsil, Seoul in 1988. He was a young, handsome, and promising caster back then, but already retired. Time just flies by so fast.

I'm not so sure about that. Sure, Sisko was a big baseball fan, but DS9 was 1993-99, which was before Ichiro came to the states. So I doubt it was him

It was a fictional baseball player Sisko was talking about. In fact DS9 ran from 1993-1999, while Ichiro only came over to the Mariners in 2001.

@@kurisu10fa I would agree. In no way would I consider Hideo Nomo a superstar. A very good player for a few years. 20.9 career bWAR, 123-109 record. 4.24 lifetime ERA His first 2 seasons were excellent. Rookie of the year first season and 4th in Cy Young voting both years. A fine Olympic presenter. But the US Olympic coverage has always been highly selective...even to the point of propaganda like proportions...showing, with rare exceptions, only American victories, making endless excuses for failures, ignoring foreign victors, editing the opening ceremony to exclude things that bother or puzzle the American viewer, and even going to far as to manipulate the medals table. Anything to sustain the idea of US supremacy in everything.
Looks like child man BC is aging gracefully…..with a little help.
