I remember when Matt came to Costa Rica about a year and a half ago. He came for a drum clinic and while it was still in progress a girl had an epileptic attack. I think Matt isn’t a medic, but the very first thing he tried to do was help her. He immediately got out of his drum set and he didn’t care about the clinic anymore, he just wanted to help. At the end everything went ok and the girl started to feel better. Just wanted to leave this here so that everyone know the type of person that is Matt: the one that loves people. God bless!

A long time ago, I lost everything I owned. Almost became homeless. Lost my DW drum set to a storage facility I couldn't pay. Fell on hard times. ABR music kept me going. I listened to their first and second albums almost religiously. Pulled me through. Now, I'm a foot and ankle surgeon. Watching these videos and seeing his face of pure enjoyment while playing is something I truly miss. One day I will buy myself another set when the time is right and return to living a life of musical enjoyment. Thanks Matt. Hope to meet you again.

I love watching Matt play. Every time I watch him play, I laugh because I remember him saying he'd play in a worship band if not ABR. I just imagine this level of playing behind something like Christ Tomlin. Gives me chuckles every time.

I play drums for our worship group and I definitely can say I incorporate things I've learned from listening and watching Matt. People ask why I play as well as I do and I tell them it's because of who I watch and try to practice to. Most people don't like it when it's ABR, but can't say they are bad musicians lol.

Matt gave me a free hour long drum lesson years ago because I couldn't afford it. He even signed sticks and everything. He is everything awesome with drumming and being compassionate.

I'm not surprised that this was amazing. I've been a fan for over 10 years. Matt is a joy to watch, looks like the happiest guy on Earth.

I remember being in highschool thinking "wow, matt played every drum fill, lick, and chop in existence all on one album" ...yet here we are 13 years and many albums later with more amazingness up his sleeve

The switch to left-foot lead at 2:39 put the biggest smile on my face. Matt is a freaking beast :D

I don’t really want to be that guy, But what he’s doing isn’t really that complex. Learn your rudiments and feel and listen to what’s being played by the other members and you got yourself Matt’s drums. I will say, he plays more melodically and on time than most drummers. I had pleasure to meet Matt and talk with him for 30mintues before their gig in Krakow, Poland. He is one of the nicest person you can imagine. That's why I call ABR "my friend's band" :D I follow rock/metal stage for years now and frankly speaking I don't find it so exciting anymore. Except every August Burns Red song - you are keep ‘on smashing my brain's off. Good job lads!

I wish my favorite drummer (THE REV) Was still alive so I could see him put out videos like this in 2020. Matt, the Rev, and leche, from as blood runs black have always been on another level in my mind. They just do things your brain isn't trained to hearing on a drum kit, and when you do hear it, you think "how is he going to line that fill up with the rythem" and you always end up with shit in hour britches saying "oh, that's how, what the actual fuck"

ABR has always had an impact on my life. Matt, being one of the reasons i started drumming. Dude is just incredible, behind the drums and in front of them.

I love everything about this: The way his drums kinda "narrate" the whole song by changing rhythms while guitars stay the same in some parts; his amazingly creative and tight fills, the energy and fun he has playing. Awesome stuff! (I'm not even a drummer and I can't stop watching stuff like this :P )

I got to meet Matt's little brother on a missions trip! Lol I didn't have any friends there to eat lunch with and I saw a guy in a August Burns Red shirt so I sat next to him. It was Caleb Greiner whom I ate lunch with!!(: I immediately texted my guitar player in my church band and told him to come to the cafeteria immediately!!(: I'm the drummer at my church btw so of course I was overjoyed!! His whole family is incredibly kind❤️

What amazes me is how he is so god damn precise. There is barely any wasted movement in his playing and you can tell he’s absolutely in the zone.
