August Budget With Me - How I Set up My Monthly Budget From Start to Finish

Hello, my friends! For my August Budget With Me, I wanted to show my whole process from start to finish. How much do you guys want to see in future videos? Do you enjoy them when they are longer or do you prefer shorter videos that get right into the details?
Later this month I will likely have a separate video (or 2) explaining the "Car Situation" which involves my husband's lease ending and us purchasing a vehicle! If there's anything specific you want me to cover here, please let me know in the comments below!

    Congratulations on being back :) Oh no! I love the new design how it’s thinner and longer! I just got mine in the mail today and it’s the original way but hopefully next time it’ll be the long way. I love your designs btw :)

    Thanks Carla!! The physical products in my shop will remain the old format through the end of the year, so you didn't miss out on anything. The printables had to be re-created anyway so it wasn't any more work to go ahead and use/test the new format.

    Love these options! I like the 2 columns for expenses but would love for them to be available with other titles or the +/- for fixed. For example: living (essential, basic) expenses and variable expenses...I'd love to keep true essentials in one category but they can change (like electric). It's such a little thing really.

    Ahh yes it's so hard... there are so many possibilities and everyone does things differently! There's definitely no room left for more columns in the fixed table, but maybe with the single column you could list the necessities at the top and then maybe have a subtotal line (just so you could see your total for true needs) and then all of the other stuff below that? I really like the idea of splitting things up that way!

    Love Love your sticker!!! I use the same three colours every month. Would you consider offering custom colour sticker pac for the bills stickers. Yours are great because you can write on them with any pen!!

    Thank you :D Yes I absolutely want to offer just full sheets of single color bill stickers. They will probably also have an option for half autopay/half checkbox, or all checkboxes without the "bill due" text so they can be used for other things (like paydays)

    LOVE the changes!!! I can't wait to get my next order placed! Can you make a sticker that has a place (like you have now) with a checkbox name, amt but add something to show that it's an AUTOPAY or AUTO WITHDRAW type payment. Are the new formatted stickers available now or will it not be until later? Thanks!!!!

    Love your videos! So glad you are back! Just curious, is your mortgage payments set up like that, or is that how you guys choose to pay them? We just bought a house and have to pay on the first of the month which is kind of painful when we get paid an opposing week. :)

  • @CaffeinatedCait

    @CaffeinatedCait

    5 жыл бұрын

    Yup, it’s set up to autopay half of what the monthly bill would be, bi-weekly. It’s actually in the mortgage terms so we technically have a 26 year mortgage. Our bank is small and local, but pretty awesome... the loan officer actually encourages people to choose the bi-weekly payments. The only painful part is months like this, where we have 3 payments! Lol

    i love your explanation for the reasoning behind how you set up your budget. this was very informative. thanks for sharing. would you keep both formats, the old one and the new one in your shop? i'm still using the 2018-2019 ec monthly deluxe. i will not not move into the new one until january 2020. thanks

    I just started watching and I was curious about your income and that you only budget your income. You mentioned your husband has a company car so I wondered why his income wasn’t budgeted in and how you work with that?

  • @CaffeinatedCait

    @CaffeinatedCait

    I probably said company card 😊 he owns his own business, which is a gym/personal training business. We just spent over a year renovating a huge space so right now everything is being re-invested into the business, he doesn’t have any take-home pay. Once that does start, I’m sure I’ll be sharing how we manage it! Thanks for watching! 😊

    I am curious about your $300 grocery budget.

  • @CaffeinatedCait

    @CaffeinatedCait

    5 жыл бұрын

    Absolutely! First thing... $300 is very optimistic, we basically always go over but we've come pretty close a few times so it's attainable, so I like to make it the goal. So our household is just myself, my husband, and my 5 year old. I'm not super into cooking, I mostly cook boring meals with basic ingredients lol. I do a lot of shopping at Aldi and ShopRite (probably regional, I'm in the northeast) and mostly everything I buy is on sale. I'd love to do a video on what we do for grocery shopping, maybe I'll vlog it throughout the month and make one big video on our monthly grocery shopping!
