August August - Newborough to Malltraeth.

"Life is like a box of chocolates" said Forest Gump's Nan - here is perhaps, an example of that analogy? We awoke at Cemlyn, after overnighting there after the last video, but Matt decided to leave as he had to see a 'man about a dog' so I persevered alone to the OPPOSITE side of Anglesey to shelter from the wind. As you can see the wind, as usual decided not to play ball, and contrived to piss me right off, as usual. But wait, upon deciding to turn back, I sheltered in Pilot's Cove, planning a light lunchy, but got talking to a rather nice fellow about the trials and tribulations of owning a Shetland Family Four, which was a power boat I nearly purchased 20yrs ago. Anyway, the upshot is, the wind miraculously dropped off, and allowed me to explore a good way up the Malltraeth estuary, which I personally found to be a most delightful experience, especially so after deciding to abort the day's paddle. I've tried to capture the atmosphere and peacefulness of the estuary, the bird calls in particular adding the finishing touch, I felt. Also on the return, I witnessed Llanddwyn Island become an actual Island for the first time in my many previous visits here.

Absolutely love your channel, I live on Anglesey and it's always a pleasure looking at my little beautiful island from a kayak perspective. I've got a large fishing kayak but I'm a bit of a girl when it comes to going out on it... it has to be like a mill pond lol 👍

As a country boy I know that-that first bird was a female pheasant. The second bird slightly up the bank from it was a male pheasant (more ornate and longer tail feathers). Beautiful trip Sir, Anglesey is my favourite tropical island destination. I am sure you will know that just further west is the bonny wee cove of St Cwyfan's with the wee church on a tidal island. You could have gone up to the road bridge at Maltraeth and called a taxi to take you back to your start point, and then driven back for your canoe. Where did you start from on this trip Sir, was it on the Menai? Kind regards.

Enjoyed it as usual Frank. I think they were girly Pheasants. Not that I am an expert or anything but I see those buggars on the farm where I work in Bucks.

Really enjoying these vids. Nice that we can enjoy kayaking stuff in the Winter, too. BTW, your kayak cockpit dash is starting to look like an F-22's: kzread.info/dash/bejne/e3p5pa19fNCYfpM.html
