Audrey Hepburn: Givenchy's Graceful Muse

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hubert de Givenchy
1927-2018
RIP
Hubert de Givenchy and Audrey Hepburn - a match made in heaven. Similar ages, the French couturier and Iconic screen star immediately empathised with each other - an intimate relationship that continued into old age.
Givenchy intuitively understood Audrey's petite frame - the perfect foil it would seem for the sophisticated and ladylike look of the late 1950s and early 1960s - tiny waist, full skirt - often with underlay and a simply cut bodice, often collarless to show Audrey's swanlike neck.
In turn, Audrey's iconic movies served as the perfect environment for the ultimate catwalk - raising Givenchy's profile. And perhaps due to the timeless design of both the couture and the movies both are still much admired decades later.
Givenchy and Hepburn - classic, refined, urbane style.
The background music is Goofin' at the Coffee House by Henry Mancini and the movie images are from Sabrina (1954), Funny Face (1957), Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), Charade (1963) and Paris When it Sizzles (1964).
The Three Graces - Elegance, Beauty and Style.
My Philosophy for a sublime way of living.
My aim - to bring a touch of old world grace and discreet glamour to the everyday.
"Having class - it's not half the battle - it's the whole war"

Beautiful and a great actress. I have never read anything negative about her, she wasn't a prima donna, in fact was supposed to be an amazing person. My favorite role of hers was in "The Childrens Hour", she was beautiful, but not glamorous and made the pain her character was feeling all to real.

Barry - The Great Emma Thompson (from Harry Potter fame - no not the head mistress, the expertly acted hippy psychic) said Audrey was a very bad actress and was "twee" Before I heard Emma I mistakenly thought Audrey was the single greatest actress ever, but evidently I was wrong. I didn't realize acting sweet, sexy, smart and classy to a point where almost an entire planet loves you is real easy to do - now I know acting bitchy and mean like actresses such as Emma and Meryl Streep is where one really shows their acting chops

@@photoartteacher903 Woowoo, sorry that the 20th century Hollywood landscape prevented actresses from expanding their acting chops beyond a category they're supposed to niche-fill, save perhaps a few rebels like another Hollywood favorite Bette Davis. I'm sure if Audrey was permitted to star in some wicked role she could have done so well in it, but like I said, she filled a spot on the Hollywood machine at that time-that of the sweet doe-eyed pretty girl. The publicists wouldn't dare tarnish a perfect money-making scheme, and perhaps, those roles might have been closest to Audrey's real life personality, otherwise she could have sucked at them. Meryl Streep on the other hand, although someone we also love, has sort of soiled her reputation post?Weinstein. Her knowledge of his actions put her in a questionable reputation in retrospect. But we try to ignore that, since she's an acting legend herself. Thank God she can do accents. Emma Thompson, i never liked her except in that Jane Austen movie and maybe Nanny McPhee part one. She seems very forceful of her acting in her other roles.

I was being sarcastic on a scale of 1-10 I rate Audrey a 50 Just like the world hated the idea of Cary Grant as the bad guy - same for Audrey, I was never a fan of mean girl actresses I believe acting self centered and mean isn't hard I have seen hundreds of teens pull it off amazingly in everyday life. For me on a 1-10 Betty Davis = 7; Emma Thompson =6; Streep =6; Grace Kelly =10; Barb Stanwyck = 10' Eve Marie Saint = 10; Ann Hathaway = 10; Julie Andrews = 10

When I was lived in Geneva sadly my favourite actriz pass away, I think it was in 1993 but I am not sure so I went to the Cathedral of Nôtre Dame to listen a service and pray for her soul, then 3 years later I came to Scotland with my second husband Steven. The following year I was pregnate with my only child. I was in town buying some little things for her room and I bought a Hello magazine and when I came home I had a look at it and in the middle of the pages was Audrey Hepburn, her picture of breakfast at Tifany so was a wee suprise but then I forgot. Another day I was going to make the ironing and I switch it on the TV, I just took a random channel, and then the film My Fair Lady was going to star and it was a Sunday at 3pm and once again I was suprise but this time I thought: this little girl I have will be called Audrey in memory of my favourite actriz. And then she was born by a cesarean delivery as the umbilical cord was on her neck. I knew something was going to happened and I pray before leaving the house. I wake up from the operation at 4am and my husband Steve told me she is there. She was tiny and I call her Audrey Britannia Antoinette. My only child.

I adored Audrey Hepburn so much I named one my Yorkshire Terriers after her. The other was Humphrey Bogart a.k.a. “Bogie”

I always see her in a beautiful Givenchy dress and a pair of Ferragamo shoes. She had such class and style.
