    I posted comments 8 months ago asking questions and telling of my own audio journey. I have since purchased my own Master 19 and also R1 DAC. I am enjoying both very much! I ended up selling my Denafrips Venus and keeping the R1. Venus is a very good combination with Master 19 and maybe sounds a hair better than R1 at times.. As it should for 3x the price. But it's really splitting hairs and they trade blows. As for the Master 19, I think I would tend to agree with everything said in this video. It is very detailed, very energetic and still very natural. It has a better sense of depth than any other solid state amp I've used. In fact, I think there maybe a greater distance front to back. If the sound stage than even my Audiovalve Solaris tube amp. The Solaris still has a slightly more natural presentation and the sound permiates the stage more fully. However, the Master 19 is still right behind it in this aspect and has greater resolution and separation. The tubes sound slightly more 'right' with some guitar riffs and certain bass rumble effects. But without it side by side, I would never know that. Truth be told, I have hardly been using my Solaris at all, recently. I upgraded my stack with Invictus ACSS cables from ebay. They claim to use silver plated Ono continuous cast copper. Tall order for the price, but I'm not prepared to say they're lying about it. Either way, they sound great. A slight upgrade to the stock ACSS cable in every way. This takes the Audio-gd stack to a level where I don't think anything else can really touch it for the price. I upgraded my LCD-4 with a Cardas cable too and have officially declared my headphone system finished. No more upgrades. How often does someone actually reach the end in this hobby? I'm going to focus on speakers though, so it's not all rosy, cost-effective bliss from here on out, or anything like that. And yes, I plan to buy more Audio-gd gear to drive speakers at some point. Oh yeah, I should mention that I tried using my Audio-gd stack to drive my Schiit Vidar and JBL Studio 580's and the stack kicks butt driving speakers!!

    Excellent didactics !....just interested if somebody has gained some expirience soundwise using master 19 pre with class D amp, such as Hypex Nilai or NCx 500 ( to warm, to full body) ? I´m using Audio GD R1 DAC Model 2019 . Since if have done the rerouting of USB input from Amanero board over Accusilicon clocks this year,specially the XLR output gained more details.... And I can agree that Audio GD has fast response due to questions or issues on there products.

    The other night I dusted off my old Audio gd NFB-10SE for a listen. I bought it used 8-10 years ago. These days I have LCD-4 headphones, a Denafrips Venus DAC, a Topping A90 and Audiovalve Solaris. Both of my amps are very clean and neutral with great resolution and sound stage. The high end tube amp obviously has that more satisfying sense of space and presence. Individual sounds seem to be three dimensional and "real." The A90 was a big step in this direction from the 789, but compare to the other amps, the sound is more like a mural than a real life stage. The NFB-10SE set all new benchmarks for resolution and sound stage size, when I got it, but those are the areas it looses out now. Mostly resolution. Its sound stage is more intimate and perhaps more vocal forward, which is good. It's not cramped, but I prefer the wider stage. I would love to know how the amp section sounds, plugged into my Uber DAC, but there is no analog input. How do you suppose the Master 19 would fit into my stack? It would be nice to find a Class A solid state that sits close enough to that tube quality, to just take over as my only amp. As it is, I use the A90 most of the time for games and KZread and save the power hungry Solaris and its unknown tube life for sit down listening sessions. (Or at least a lazy Saturday when I know I can just turn it on once and use it most of the day.) I had a Violectric V281 after the NFB-10SE and it was warmer and had more resolution than the NFB-10SE, but it lost out to the THX-789 and later, the A90, in terms of frequency response and raw resolution. It got left out in the middle of everything and I sold it after acquiring the Solaris.

    Did you experience any type of click/pop/distortion noise out of the speaker cones or headphones when turning the volume control. I am not talking about the relay making a noise from the unit itself, I am talking about the speaker cones. Did you experience any issues in that department.

  • @AudiophileHeaven

    Hiii, I did not experience it, but some friends reported it happening with some units, I think that there's a feedback in certain combos, usually the amplifier won't like a specific preamp, but the one friend who reported it, did so with a burson funk, which did not happen for me, so it is an odd situation (?)

    Good question. It has a gain button which you can press to select gain. I don't think it has 4 settings, but 2 instead. It has high and low gain, and that is it as far as I know.

    Thank you! I will be adding music to my reviews in the near future, but I'm not sure if I can play anything through the products and make it audible, since it would be played through a headphone and my microphone would not be great at recording that. Even is someone tried to EQ music to emulate the product they are reviewing, it won't really match what you'd hear on your own setup, I think it is a bit of a gimmick, even though I did admire the approach at some point, and tried to pursue the idea.

  • @LEFUSOUND

    @LEFUSOUND

    4 жыл бұрын

    @@AudiophileHeaven Yes I know it is tricky to play music especially through a preamp to judge its performance by viewers but you could hook it up to your system (amp + speakers) at the same time to your PC or with a good mic record a couple of secs due to copyrights issues. I always listen via soundcard on my PC with JBL earphones which BTW are great sounding I can hear a difference when someone is doing a comparison like two different speakers or cartridges. Anyway, hearing is a subjective but would enrich your review of a product.
