Do you think the ID4 MKII is worth purchasing if you already own the EVO 4? I'm using it with a fethead going into a Shure SM7B. Does the ID4 also have +10 more gain available in the software?

Can i use audient id4 mark 1 with m1

i have both of these, and like them both. i love the smart gain on the evo 4, and the build quality of the id4. the evo 4 is shielded, too, make no mistake, if you open it - which i have - you'll find the case lined up with pretty thick aluminium foil, so it's not like the plastic is all you've got as casing. you wouldn't get that kind of specs without shielding, that much is clear. for the guitar input - haven't tested the mics yet, and the lines i never do - the evo sounds slightly brighter - almost too much, a tiny little bit metallic, but you put am amp sim on it and it works great - and honkier, with less low end. the id4 sounds more tame in the highs, a bit more present in the high mids, with more lower mids - its center of gravity is lower down than the evo, so instead of the honk you got a bit more mud - and more lows. but the difference is so slight that it shouldn't matter. these are nuances, rather than clearly noticeable differences. they both work great. and last, but not least, evo has noticeably lower latency than the id4, which is probably owed to the evo working more like a software controller when setting the gain and volumes - turning the knobs changes the values in windows - whereas id4 does that internally, so there's probably more circuitry. i don't mind the windows adjustment, but id4 has a jfet input, so that would change the color based on the gain, before it hits the software, so i reckon the gain has to be done internally. i did like your video, but i think you made three mistakes on it: the evo has 2 inputs, not 3, just two connectors for the first one - they work alternatively, and not together; evo has input metering, in that led halo around the knob; and, surprisingly enough, the id4 DOESN'T have input metering (for what reason only God knows), that beautiful double led array is only for outs. if the id4 had smart gain, the lower latency, and input metering, it would the "perfect" interface. evo 4 has all of these, and the sound quality is very, very close - although if you're shooting for the best possible in every nuance, you'd go for the id4, for the price range - which is almost from single to double :p, but both very cheap. so i''ll probably just keep them both. i always keep a spare. you can absolutely do a great job, sound wise, with the evo, just that with the id4 it's slightly better. i'll try the motu m4, and make a decision of which two to keep of the three. i have an idea on which ones, but don't want to spoil it, before i actually compare.

Thanks for the details! Two quick questions if I could: 1. You said the evo has better latency. Is that input latency or output latency? 2. As for the sound quality differences, again, are you mostly talking about inputs or outputs? As someone who works almost strictly "in the box", for the most part inputs don't affect me, but output sound quality and especially output latency for virtual instruments are quite important.

Sir, I am beginner. I want to record my written poetry professionally. In which my line will go in high tone and will also come in low tone. Tell me such dynamic mic and audio interface. So that I can record and mix later. My room is not sound proof. My total budget is $300. But a shopkeeper told me that you cannot do recording with dynamic mic. Please tell me what should I do. Tell me such a mic and audio interface that I will not regret after buying.

How about the evo VS. The id14? I have an older scarlet solo and I’m looking to get back into recording (guitar). Which would you suggest?

What should i choose? The price here in Sweden is 15 dollar between them (ID4 Mkii more expensive). - I have Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro 250Ohm headphones, AKG D5 microphone and Edifier 1855DB speakers. I want the device to drive them all for gaming, listening to music and watching videos. - I want to switch audio source between Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro and Edifier 1855DB easy, which one is the best for that? - I want to drive my AKG D5 microphone to a good level without having to go 90-100 % gain. - Can u mute microphone quickly on iD4 Mkii?

R u sure the EVO has 3 inputs? on the front, of course, there is a hi Z input, but it can't record all the 3 inputs at the same time. If I'm wrong, please let me know

Yep all the same with sound quality in the preamp!

Since both of these interfaces I believe have digital volume knob , will it regain back to zero after turning PC to sleep and waking up. Did u have any problem in this case. 🙏

No, the main difference between those are the amount output/inputs, and dials. For the the iD14 you control your monitoring via pc only. The sound is exactly the same, QUALITY preamps

2 inputs simultanius, not 3.

For sound quality alone, the original probably still has a slight edge, but it’s so minor that the Evo 4 features outweigh it.

in terms of build quality, a lot of interfaces beat the Evo 4, but the sound quality is very competitive and the features are unmatched in its price range and even a little bit above. Also you’ll want to consider your I/O needs.

@@grantedgeek I think it will be great . I will buy it and try to take care of it because of the building quality issue. It works with USB ports right cause I have only USB in my laptop not type c. Does it work on windows 11. Is there are a minimum requirements that should be available in the laptop to operate well
