@@dishy2304 well, I got a modern SUV and bought a 2008 TT this month. The contrast of driving both ends of the scale is great plus the TT is an awfully fun car to drive on A and B roads especially when the sun is out around Yorkshire. Bonus, it looks great, they're cheap to run and maintain. The interior is timeless. What's not to like?

well a flappy paddle Gearbox doesn't necessarily mean that it is a double clutch gearbox that just means it is an automatic that you can also manually shift by using the paddles they only had a short moment of glory in the early 2000s tho because then the double clutch came in

+TheCoolSquare thats rights the Audi in this video has a DCT, but they didn't call it flappy paddle Gearbox. F.E . the Porsche 996-996 were available with a flappy paddle Gearbox but just with one Clutch.

When people call a dual clutch transmission such a thing it does feel a bit like they simply don't care for the car or it makes them look like they have no idea what they are speaking of. My Uncle's Passat has a DSG and I am not sure if it has paddle shifters but With or without them it is a nice car. It is a TDi and feels quick. I would buy it if he ever sold it. The TDi gets very good mileage. I know this is an impartial review but it feels as if that guy hates Audis.

The TT Clarkson reviews in this video is the V6. It is super heavy in the front, and since it's one of the newer models of the Mk1 Audi TT, it has introduced understeer and body roll due to the TT recall pre-2002. The original Mk1 TT was stiffer, more responsive, had a manual transmission, was very tunable like a GTI, and was not as "safe." In fact, the first few years of the TT were dangerous ones, since many of the cars didn't have ESP and they were imbalanced weight wise.

There are only like about 5 of them in Korea, and I agree that it is not that fast nowadays, but at least it looks really nice, better than the MK2/MK3 personally (don't judge on that pls), and back in the old days, the DSG was like a future technology. Owned a coupe and convertible mk1 TT over the last few years. If your looking to buy, go for the coupe. Looks much better and does feel considerably lighter/stiffer then the drop top. As for reliability, these cars are near bulletproof. Aside from getting some dead pixels in the instruments cluster (easily fixed). General maintenance/minor fixes can be done by a novice/learning mechanic. And is much cheaper the a Z4/Z3 etc. It’s really just a hot hatch but in a coupe body. And there is tonnes it storage and load capacity. I got around 8-9L per 100kms and it comfortable enough to be a good daily. You would likely pay double the price for an equivalent MX5/Z4 with double the KMs. TT is a hidden gem mainly because of the image. But get a tidy coupe, in a great colour and you have yourself a stunning car. Chicks love then and other people will think it’s worth a lot more then it is! But in reality it’s cheaper then their Corollas/Camry’s.

Now to the hate part little stupid things always go wrong with these like abs sensors, guage clusters, and bushings so it seems like you are under the car as much as in it sometimes. I love my TT but if you buy one or are looking to buy one you need to realize it'll be a love hate relationship.

TT 2001 looks brilliant and is not terrible performance wise considering you can buy one for £1300. However buying new is as you said, an iphone. You pay shit loads for quarter of same price performance of other products and value of it drops to so low after a year goes by. It's 2019 and my TT 2001 is still as tight and well running as it was new. Mine is a 5-speed manual (before 6 speeds were available). Even so it goes well at any speed. Mine is the 1.8 5 valve/cyclinder 180 HP/173 ft-lbs of torque. I haven't noticed any change in performance after all this time. Jeremy was then and has been ever since full of British crap for what he said.

    D. Paul Gladstone I had to get rid of my 2000. It was also a 5 speed. It’s always been the favorite car I’ve owned and I decided to finally get another one yesterday. It’s a 2008 and feels very familiar. There are still some touches from the original that I wish it had, but it’ll be great to have one again.

It's 2022, and I still drive my 2001 TT 5-speed. In the mountains it has embarrassed more than a few more expensive cars (especially Japanese sport coupes). It had a problem with the catalytic convertor (paid for by Audi). The electronic brain was rubbish (replaced by Audi). The sway bar was replaced twice by me (it squeaked terribly). I finally had the front end suspension rebuilt, but the struts are still working fine. Oil, petrol, and tyres are the majority of my regular cost. W-series tyres are only good for 30,000 miles. The only way anyone will ever get my TT is prying the keys from my cold dead hands. I do agree, Jeremy does tend to say things that are horribly wrong.

@19danflo i agree but i would try another one because i have driven one and the suspension is way to hard to drive relaxed. it shakes you the complete trip.

IMO the 2nd gen is the better looking, but I do like the 1st gen and have considered buying one.
