Glad to see that Audi and Volvo still know how to make awesome station wagons. This new S4 Avant and the new V90 are very nice cars. Who needs SUVs anyway.

"Stuck" in traffic at 160km/h? I don't think my car can even reach that haha.

After 3 GTIs and an R, this is my next ride. Can't wait.

The seats in this baby are absolutely incredible. I was not a fan of the seats in the previous generation but they really nailed it with this car. Bravo Audi.

Good review. Somebody ran a light totalling my brand new (3K miles) 18 TT RS. As a "replacement", I bought a Mythos Black Premium Plus with Black Optic, S Sport Pkg, Nav Pkg, and Nappa Leather. I love the car. Not as violent as the TT RS but very competent handling with enough power. I think I like the diff and the quattro set up in the S4 over the TT RS.

Another great review. Avant in blue looks superb.

The reason they allow you to prevent the middle rear seat from accessing the trunk is to allow for valet mode, quite useful if you don't want anyone to go inside your trunk, as well as your glove department box.

The styling of this car and pretty much ALL Audi vehicles is always spot on. They definitely take less is more to the next level with very clean and smooth, simplistic styling. I look forward to seeing if we get the RS4 or the S5 Sportback here in the US, otherwise I will most definitely be getting the S4 or even the RS3 if they would ever officially announce it.Excellent review of the S4 Thomas. You definitely cemented it's position on my list of potential Audi's for me in 2017.

Another great review Thomas. It appears Audi are the number one auto manufacturer in the market place today. I recall being a BMW fanatic 15 or so years ago, then I switched to Mercedes Benz. Now in 2016, I find Audi are the premium German Brand. Audi have nailed "understated" good looks, which is important to me. Honestly they seem to be out BMWing BMW. Plus Audi seem to be providing interior quality, that is superior to Daimler. Though that is more likely "Personal Taste!" The Audi star seems to be rising higher and higher, which I think is deservedly so.

That V6 sounds really nice.

So nice. .....sleek and classy. .....a dream car right there.

One thing your videos really don't get enough credit for is your information section, very in depth and useful. As for the video itself, I must say I prefer the A4/S4 in a sedan shape, as a station wagon the proportions look a bit strange to me. The quilt stitching on the seats looks amazing, not something I would expect in a S4.

Hey there Thomas! I think the reason that they have the locking mechanism on the rear centre seat at 21.15 is so that if you wanted, you could fold the seats in a 60:40 split (folding in 2 pieces) instead of 40:20:40 split (folding in 3 parts) Anyways, I enjoyed the video, keep up the good work!

Thanks for showing its left-lane prowess. Though, taking A67 would be an even better place to go vmax. I make the trek from Friedberg and Kaiserslautern rather frequently and the A67 is great!

I hope you do the S5 soon, was going to get one this year, the older model, but then they dropped the redesign, so now I have to wait till spring 2017 here in the US. :( Great review by the way, thanks for all the info and insight.

Always great videos on Autogefuhl and I enjoy them immensely. I've been an Audi follower for a long time. Their cars are built to superb standards and the sound of that 3 litre V6 sounds lovely. I am however not a fan of the new look of the A4 and the A5. It doesn't scream out at you in the way the old B8 A4 with LEDs and of course the A5 did... Still. Nice cars.

And for some this changes the character of the car immensely. The ZF 8 is an amazing gearbox, we can't deny this fact, but it is still not as sharp as the Audi's double clutch option. Also, the fact that Audi does not offer a manual anymore will be a problem for a segment of this market. Some car enthusiasts would never buy an auto. I personally wouldn't mind, but I know some current S4 owners that would never consider this new Audi as an option.

Before watching this review I have been dead set on waiting for the diesel crisis to end here in the states so I can get a A6 TDI, but now I have to saw this new S4 is on the map and could very well end up being my choice. I loved this review and everything was shown and explained perfectly. Maybe now it will be a Merlin Pearl (purple) S4 that will be sitting at my house instead of a A6 in the future.

The old A4 didn't have retractible screen.:) But very, very good review!

Really nice cars. I would go for the estate version, in this blue. Alcantara seats and sedan wheels :) and the black glossy finish.

Autogefuhl, always high quality 60 fps videos with in depth thoughts. If i have a criticism, that is you dont pay enough attention to the door bins, from practical point of view. it'd be rather nice to include some kind of durability score, if the car has some quality issues like frequent gear box issues, engine issues or some kind of technical defect. Something like that (although sometimes i suppose its not possible since u review only brand new cars). Aaaand maybe testing the sound system. Other than that everything is perfect, i hope you respect my opinion, not trying to offend you, just giving you a piece of advice. Cheers! :) :) :)

Hello Thomas, Excellent work as usual. How would you rank the interior noise levels of the S4, A4, and S3 sedans you recently tested? Thanks!

The rear seat ski hatch is lockable so that the trunk remains secure when desired.

Locking the ski hatch is for when you give the car to valets so they can't gain access to the trunk. The NMS Passat and most other VWAG products have this feature.

Expected price in Denmark is starting at 120.000 euro...... I hate Danish tax! Great review as always :)

usually I like the sedans, but with the A4 it's really difficult to choose between the sedan and the estate...and what I really like in Audi and VW cars in general the rectangular air vents, they are much beter than the circular once in Mercedes ( the details make the difference ; )

from my point of view they both compare cars so as a viewer i think that the Autogefühl reviews are way more professional,detailed and they are managing to surprise their fans,I woke up this morning and seen the s4 video ,i was like wow ,not even audi.de won't let you configure this car. i really enjoyed this video learned lots of things about s4.Who knows what will they upload tomorrow. Car reviews vs Car reviews i have the right to compare them and i vote for Autogefühl .Be kind stop calling people moron or thickheaded , eat your donuts drink your soda and keep watching keeping up with the kardashians. So now that it's turbo instead of supercharged. Do you notice any lag compared to the previous S4?

I can tell you for sure that if only front windows are soundproofed the end result is the same as without any of the double glazed windows. You either have all windows soundproofed, or none. Clearly an option targeted to people not knowing/understanding acoustics.

Great detailed review as always, Thomas. I have a question about the load width of the Avant cargo area. Do you have the dimensions and would you think a 4' x 8' (121.92 cm x 243.84 cm) sheet of plywood would fit, flat or even slanted? We get the Allroad here in the US, but I'm assuming the interior would be the same as the Avant. Thanks'!

I find it very odd that they don't have a flat bottom steering wheel standard in the S4, yet in the pre-face lift and the face lift S3 you get one.

Thomas - great review as usual! What would you buy, an RS3 or an S4? I'm torn between the two (hopefully an RS4 will come to the states to make my decision easier). Danke Schoen!

I am waiting for a comparison between my B8 S4 and this new model. I can't see there being much of a difference in performance and sound. Supercharged vs turbo. Turbo will be a bit more efficient. Hard to decide if it's worth the upgrade or not yet.

l have ran out of superlatives for car reviews Thomas,l like the black styling package on the S4 looks very different,but as you say it's very expensive basic then add options it's mega expensive,but the S3 sedan is a worthy in house rival?

Thomas, from your comparison of the S4 to the S5 Sportback, which model is more practical? Which model is more comfortable? Which model is more fun to drive?

One problem with BMW 340i is that the only way to tell that car from a normal 320d is the badge and the Audi looks way more distinctive

Exactly right. It is tradition. Although Audi S4 have undergone evolutionary change in the past decades (some less disputed than others - mainly the engines), it still carries its herritage with it and a certain pedigree. The S4 is a distinct car. Yes, it is not an in-your-face car that shouts it from the rooftops, but that is exactly what S4 owners like - stealthy and conservative looks, everyday practicality, sporty ride without harshness to it. And still, you can probably outrun a Cayman off the lights. What is not to love about it? Of course, if you want Nissan GTR levels of performance, Audi RS 7 sounding exhaust, or BMW M4 handling, you will have to look elsewhere. But who really uses that in day-to-day driving? I certainly do not. And for that occasional trip on the mountain roads, you will still be overtaking 99% of the traffic, should you want to. Just my opinion. Maybe some guys that sometimes comment on how the S4 is weak and slow, etc., maybe they do live in Monacco...
