The Audi Q7 is a popular three-row luxury SUV in Australia and around the world. But in our market, the second-generation Q7 has been diesel only until now. The addition of a 48-volt mild hybrid petrol V6 called the Q7 55 TFSI expands the bandwidth of the Q7 lineup and gives buyers who do not want a diesel a new option.
And you know what? The new petrol Q7 is very good indeed. Not too bad on fuel, but featuring silky-smooth refinement, the Q7 55 TFSI is actually the version of the Q7 most people need. Sure, if you want to tow heavy loads all the time, the TDI options will suit. But for most driving styles, the petrol Q7 is ideal.
But is the Audi Q7 the large luxury SUV to buy? Should you consider the Mercedes GLS or BMW X7?

Is this more roomy than the Kluger hybrid. I do understand that there is very little in common for comparison. By the way, I really like how you provided the insurance guide at 7:34

Great colour. If they flared the guards a tad more instead of squaring them off it would look good, the slab sides detract from it's 'classiness'. Touch sensitive controls are simply annoying. I did a 300km night trip yesterday on bumpy bendy country roads thru mild fog in a mostly touch car and it became highly annoying with bump induced double tapping and wrong selections and having to spend way too much time looking at the screens while not looking for roos and wombats and where I'm going. It was more anxiety than pleasure.

it only snows on the top of the few small mountains we have, so Tom must have driven a long way from Sydney to get that footage. If you really want to blow your mind, come to Australia at Christmas time and experience a summer Xmas

Great review Tom. Shame that the long term build quality of the cabin is below par. I've had my A7 for 12 months and it has more rattles than my wife's 3 year old Q2.

Thanks Hernan. What I have noticed is how quality was really quite poor in the early iterations of his new interior (which I said openly at the time) but they are clearly making improvements behind the scenes. This Q7 was faultless. So I went and ran it over a bunch of gravel roads to see if I could make it rattle. I couldn't.
