Do you ever have to worry about the exhaust phase?

Since the intake and exhaust are linked in 1 timing loop, if the intake is wrong so will the exhaust.

@@danielsgarage3545 ON the mk7 side of things for the golf r and gti it has a vvt for exhaust as well. Everyone I've seen has two different numbers between the intake and exhaust phase. The reason i asked is because many of the intakes are green zone while exhaust side seems to be all over the place

I am not completly sure. But the exhuast side does make sense since it is variable cam angle that they would be all over the place. Do you have eny check engine lights?

Just did this at my 2010 2.0T Passat B6, 128k km atm, because im having a rattling metal noise at first start up for about a second, for quite some time already, chain tensioner is original and old model, but it showed me -2.88, so i presume its another problem? Like if something that was supposed to hold some oil isnt doing its job, whats your opinion pls?

I believe you are on the right track, something is draining oil and needs to refill after engine stop. the camshaft lifters are hydraulic and can drain "from audi this is normal" the chain tensioner is also hydraulic and can drain. I would do a visual inspection of the tensioner at the little view port in the lower chain cover, should pop off and pop back on, looks like its not to had to get to behind the wheel. check it engine off for a while and see where its at and then engine on and see how far it moves, if it pushes out a lot that would be the problem. other potential culprits are just worn guides with any of the 3 chains in there.

@@danielsgarage3545 Ive inspected it in the past already, but with engine off just to clarify the tensioner version, confirming that Its the original old version without the teeths, will try this test uve suggested, but with this -2.88 from Vcds, should i be worried about any iminent tensioner failure/ engine kboom?

I would guess you are not in any immediate danger. I believe mine is also original from 2013 and still have a -2.4 with 112,000 miles. Could be the hydraulic lifters a worn giude rail, someone said they had a loose bolt on the hpfp.

@@danielsgarage3545 Ive checked the hpfp last month because of a low pressure code already, It looks perfectly fine, no wear on the lobe, very tight, no visual wear at all, but replaced the pcv membrane, and might also need to replace the hole pcv, Its letting oil into the turbine outlet. The first start noise might have something related with oil pump?

Unlikely but worth a check. You should be able to check it in vcds. I put an aem oil pressure guage in my car. Armt idle its around 15-18 psi and full throttle 7k rpm its up to about 50s. Putsing around town its usually in the 20 and 30 psi range. For your reference points

Normal within spec camshaft adaptation reading should be + or - 4 degrees. Anything above or below its time to change the chain.
