Spending all that money doesn't seem silly to me. I'm a person who spent $300 on vet care for a $5 rat. We can't always act according to our heads but according to our hearts. Killing these horses because no one wants them is unconscionable. Watching this little guy bloom under your kind and knowledgeable care is beyond touching. ❤

I disagree with "NEVER been recognized". Watch the use of the word 'never'. Horses have most certainly been abused and neglected and treated with indifference by many---but they have also been revered, held up as tremendously Prized creatures, as well as loved and then mourned when they pass away. This world is FULL of polarity.

He may actually be worth the money. He is a tough, good looking horse. Some of my best horses have been tiny. My best horse of all time was a mare out of a Kentucky Mountain Saddle Horse, by an Appaloosa. She was never over 13:2 and 720 lbs. She handled my weight better than the big horses I've had over the years. She was smooth gaited and fast, and would do absolutely anything from pulling a manure spreader to cultivating the garden, to pulling formal carriages, to herding cattle, to long trail rides, to skidding logs out of the woods. She was also incredibly kind and careful with even the smallest children. I would ten times rather have a horse like that than the most expensive Thoroughbred. She was active and useful up until her death at 28. Unfortunately, like Stewy, she had a heavy load of worms when I got her. She was prone to colic because of the damage they did, and colic is what finally got her. Her daughter lived to be 35 and never colicked once, but I never let her get that load of worms.

Back in the mid 1970s some Arabian breeding friends of mine rescued a colt something like this one. He was over a year old, WAY under weight and height for his age, full of worms, dull coat, and looked more like a weanling size. Anyhow, the horse had been gifted to the owner - she really hadn't wanted it, and just sent it to a boarding farm that had NO clue on how to feed him properly, or anything else ! So my friends offered to take the young colt off her hands. They worked very hard to bring him to his full potential, and due to his excellent Arabian breeding, he was eventually added to their breeding program as a stud. To see 'Abby' when they first got him - small, skinny and neglected - and to what he looked like about a year or so later, when he reached his full potential after being dewormed and fed all he needed to grow properly and into good health ? You'd never guess in a million years that he was the same colt ! He was just beautiful. :)

Gotta love those liars who dumped this horse (loaded with worms I might add), passing him off as a gelding when they knew damned well he still had a testicle. 😡 Did they think you wouldn't notice? So heartwarming to see him so happy and healthy, running in the pasture. You are the Patron Saint of Lost Horses!💗

Another horse channel I watch thought they had lost the bid on a Clydesdale filly. The next day they get a call to say the bid winner had backed out because they didn't want to arrange next day transportation to their out of state home. The scooped her up happily and will pair with their male eventually learning to pull a wagon as a team. It was meant to be. So glad you honor your sales and your horses.

The vet never should have done a fake geld. He or she should have refused to do that. Removing one testicle, without looking for the other, is malpractice. Representing a horse as "gelded" when only one testicle has been removed, is simply lying.

Stewie reminds me a lot of my BLM mustang. My Logan had known hard homes all through his life (He's 26 now), the cowboy who tried to "train" him said he was the rankest horse he'd ever encountered. He lives a quiet and peaceful life here with me; nobody will ever hurt my boy.

You can also tell hes mama was a mustang. He has that bigger bone in his legs. Hes got the strong mustang legs. Stewie is a handsome little guy. And has such a sweet face and kind eyes. Mustangs are smart. So its no suprise this young guy is smart and a willing learner. Hes gonna be something Special i can see that so very clear.

Stewy is a very fortunate horse! You’ve done an excellent job with him. I just don’t get owners who send their animals to auctions like this, even the sick and old ones. I’m of the old school belief that we take responsibility for our animals and care for them until we either find them a new home or until they no longer have good quality of life i.e., sick and can’t get better or just plain old and in pain. May GOD richly bless you for taking care of your horses the way you do.

Stewy is a beautiful animal and it sounds like he's getting the care and training that he needs. I hope that for the rest of his life he is as well taken care of as he is at your ranch.

😂 My mom calls them "Adult beverages." I was cracking up about your vow to never drink and bid on horses. I love your sense of humor. I'm glad he went to you and not to slaughter. I wish I had the space to rescue horses. You're living my dreams.

Stewie is a lovely young horse! What a great calm demeanor he has! I am looking forward to seeing if he grows and matures more. Although 14 hands is about the right size for me, I am 73 (5’2”) and will most likely never own another horse; but you never know!
