I wish every old horse could end up with the kind of love and care Boone is getting.

Beautiful!!! The gelding and the people who rescued him !! He looks so good for 30 !!! So nice he gets to retire with dignity and kindness and love !! I wished there was more people like this !!!

Where were the people that KNEW the older couple owners and KNEW of this horse? their kids; their neighbors, their friends, the mailman, any delivery people to their house/property SURELY could have known/seen this HORSE in TERRIBLE condition! he was almost STARVED to death!! for SHAME ON THEM!! either take the horse themselves or report it to the animal control/SPCA so the horse can b rescued!! good grief, people, PAY ATTENTION!!

My 35 yr old had special lawn privileges several hours every day. I miss her.

Sitting still and "just being" with animals without ANY distractions (cell phones) is something few people I have met actually do. I volunteer at a cat rescue and the cats gather round me when I sit on the floor and interact with them. I think the other volunteers do not understand how essential this is to the cats psychological well-being. Thank you for sitting and "just being" with this lovely older horse, Boone, a blessing indeed.

30 is.. unreal; one question; where did you get him, an auction? was he a ‘purchase’ rescue from someone..? (that’s about all I could think of except for a part of a seizure). in reaching that age he must have been somewhere that kept him alive (badly). just beautiful in how you managed to take in a horse for his last years! few will bother with any equine that’s in poor health..

Didn't read the article? He belonged to an older couple who could, physically, no longer take care of him. Obviously the, maybe unintentional, neglect had been going on for some time. It can be difficult to know who to call. He could have ended up much worse.
