I did chuckle at seeing Dave Mustaine in the grass. He wrote all of Metallica's songs, even the ones from before he was in the band

Great little video I love these type of inside stories on things and I bet you're full of them. I hope to see some more of this type. I think you also hit the nail on the head. Metal might not be as big as we perceive it to be.

I had no idea! And yeah, I would have expected it to sell for more too. It's a very cool cover. And strangely fitting current events. Also, you can have a laugh at the innocent mind of 21 year old me, but when I first saw the Ride the Lightning cover, I thought it was a microphone. It took me years before I got it.

Hehe! I may never see the RTL cover in the same way again. 😊 And yes, I actually did edit a couple of moments from this video in which I commented about war itself. I filmed the video about a month ago, you see, before terrible current events. 😕
I think the album title font is possibly a version of Eurostile - I have been known to be a font geek on occasion 😳

The masters hands are wearing gloves & were originally drawn as female hands. Lars requested the gloves, the string to be looser, the helmet moved & yellow to be put in.

Hands are the hardest thing to draw accurately- many years it takes to learn to draw them The greatest artists would draw books, flowers, handbags, clutch over the hands to avoid being judged for lack of skill. You are taught to practice on your own hands

This album cover tells us one thing: You're actually dead inside but you're still alive, only because the drugs are controlling you!
Yeah 35g seems quite low end, would have thought 100k+ but I guess it's only 1986 and the artist himself is not famous.

Yeah! I guess there's also the factor of how many people even knew about the auction! How well publicised was it, etc. Metal people probably don't spend much time looking at online auctions...

Maiden still has better covers than anything Metallica has had.
