Attribute Development for Combatives

Спорт

Here is a video from the UC archives that looks at using complex motor energy drills such as Hubud as a means to enhance gross-motor Combative hard skills. Such things teach you timing, hand/eye coordination, footwork, how to economise movement as well as tool develop both left and right! Good fun and a nice change to add in every now and then! Wow that was amazing. I've done wing chun drills for many years, but in more recent years I've focused on combatives. Great to see Lee combine them together. Lee moves so fast and with such power, incredible.

really interesting clip. I've always thought of hubud as a method to flank the often under-considered attack that is a push. its maybe the most common assault or "interview" but many don't train against it cos its thought less dangerous.

I came to consider Hubud Lubud as a way of getting the outside (flanking) on a lead hand because of the unknown danger hold in the rear one

Nice spike kick to the groin as he went for the knife, imagine that with steel toe capped boots. Ouch. Nice to see some practical applications of wing chin.

I trained that drill quite a bit with my partner. We played with a few other techniques, including using a knee and resulted in me cracking a rib lol

Great presentation on developing attributes! Couldn’t ask for better. Is it possible in future lessons to see how this is applied to an opponent coming on with a full bore attack?

Also how would you deal with the threat of come backs for example you could have all those skills but if your at the same work place everyday sitting duck would that change your way in dealing with the problem

Ho noooo! I think wing chun will harm the manner of your philosophy. These drills are a useless waste of time. Very simple drills like a guy making some grab or push or entangling with your arms or you making skin contact and taking it from there, that is, wacking in the face finishing the job, is something different. I mean where will your eyes be in a real fight? On his arms? Of course not, at least not like in that hypnotic manner.
