As a classical guitarist that is still in school and only sees people that are way ahead of me playing every note perfectly, this type of raw video is super comforting in the way that it shows everyone goes through the work to play a piece (Some faster than others but still). Especially you since you're probably the one I look up to most. Thank you for refilling my motivation.

My left hand is tired from watching this! Everyone hears the final, but seldom sees the work. Thanks for posting!
So brave to open yourself up like that. One thing that has really inspired me about the video is, as a newbie guitar player, I always assumed I would know I can play when someone names a tune and I just play the notes. It's reassuring to know the work never stops.
Nothing better then a behind the scenes video on new pieces. Alot of humans just listen to the final version and forget how many intense hourse of practicing we go through just to memorize it for example, and then there always is the fine tuning on some bars and stretches. Thanks for sharing it and thanks for sharing your art :)
Thank you for showing the real work guitarist like you put in .
Love the process, the pain, the wtf bits, the breakthrough, the rehumbling, the eureka moment, the resetting...this really gives me and I'm sure all watchers a lot of motivation. Brilliant video. Cheers Alexandra . Really helpful content.
An awesome combination of self confidence and humility! Heroic.
This was a great video. So wonderful to see the hard work that goes into learning a new piece. Thank you.
It was nice to watch you struggle with something so complex yet doing as well as you did. Thanks for being vulnerable. Great example for newer artists.🎉🎉🎉🎉❤
Thanks! It is fascinating to see your working process.
My hand is hurting just watching you play this. Will be a great concert, all the best with rehearsals and shows.
I can barely stand listening to myself learn a new piece. The idea of posting one of those sessions triggers a lot of anxiety. How you can be so kind and comfortable with yourself and share this is inspiring.

Agree
Props to Alexandra for putting herself out there while learning a new piece. Of course, her practicing is much better than my playing.
This is great! We only usually see to finished product when a guitarist (or any other musician) plays, ,and it's good to see one actually trying to get to grips with a piece.
Oh my goodness. This is so much fun to hear. I've been playing these songs for about 15 years and have been through many, many adventures with them all. I have lots of fingering suggestions that actually make it a lot easier and some note changes. Both Llobet and Leisner have some note mistakes. David solved some of the problems with different voicings, especially in this one.
You're doing GREAT, honey! Sound quality, sight reading hability. Thank you so much for sharing this learning episode with us.
Amazing piece! This is my first time hearing it which works great for a video like this.
Really wonderful!! 🙂 Lovely to see how you approach a piece--and appreciate the running commentary!! " . . . that's not happening . . ." 🙂
An artist at work. Thanks for sharing! I grew up watching my best friend's brother practice, and he slid me my first tab. Carcassi Op.59 No.1. I hope you do post more videos. It helps to see a genius at work! Have a Great Weekend!
Those stretching grips were painful even for me as a spectator. You got my respect, Alexandra. 🙏
I will love to hear this piece once you've had a chance to learn it your normal way and then put your signature on it. You're pretty brave to take it on unseen on camera like this. Love your playing!
It's fascinating to see your process!
The playful spirit of the intro contrasts nicely with the concentration of playing a concert piece. Both are pleasing.
I could never get tired of watching and listening to your playing
I generally go very, very, very slowly through a new arrangement to determine if the fingerings are optimal or need alterations to accommodate my hand limitations. I am fascinated by the challenges of learning, wish I could visit Ireland, it's been 3 decades 😢
Inspirational, thank you for sharing this
It was amazing seeing Alexandra get through the piece so quickly. It would take me a whole lot longer than 20 minutes to get through part of one page let alone all four. The one thing that is always a bit of a mystery to me is how one determines the fingering needed to play a piece from just looking at the sheet music.
Enjoyed very much, thanks!!
Really enjoyed this video. It was very interesting to see a fantastic artist working through a new piece, really inspiring. Thank you for sharing 👏👍🎶
Great BTS education, thanks for posting. Looking forward to seeing you live in Dublin!
Thanks Alexandra. Your classical guitar playing is exceptional. Also a fan of Steve Hackett’s guitar playing on albums such as Tribute, Momentum and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
i love you alexandra.this is what calms me down and lets me continue learning.cause i though i am so bad at reading notes.whatever you did it perfect :) you are a really good teacher. thanks for this video
Fascinating!
Thank you. You are an inspiration. Happy week. 🎸⚘👏
my respect to play fluid sheet music for the guitar...it would take me ages for one line. very adorable how focused you are!🧡
To make you feel better, I'll upload a video of me trying to play Mary Had A Little Lamb on my ukulele. A few years from now, I might be able to play your warmup. Love your playing. Sat in the 5th row for Andrés Segovia in 1987 (have a bootleg tape somewhere). Rumors of his decline would be denied by his excellent performance that night, and his humorous comments to the mostly Spanish audience at the Miami Beach Theatre of the Performing Arts on April 4, 1987, just months before he died at age 94
Extremely interesting to see a Pro guitarist doing so. Thanks !!!
It feels good to see professional like you are struggling a bit ! :)
Booked for the Pavilion Dún Laoghaire gig. Can't wait!
Thank you for this fascinating insight into your learning process. A question I have been meaning to ask is how long it typically takes you to work up a typical short piece like this from first sight to performance. The answer seems to be - scarily little!!!
I think it's absolutely adorable that you let us see "behind the curtain" as it were. And a lovely piece, as well. Did ye give the name of it ? Really enjoyed this ! Addendum: Will ye ever play in Glasgow ? 🍀🎸🍀
Awesome, you can do it, There's good time coming.
I watched many KZread to recommend for learning guitar and realized an important key beside the fundamental theory and techniques. You may have to catch your moments of your moods or emotions to recall your recent frustration to next improvement about the song you know. You may have your guitar in front of you all the time. You may imagine an artist just see a beautiful picture without a pencil in hand, a scientist suddenly has idea without testing supports, a handyman just see the way to fix things without properly tools.
Always impressive, talented beauty
Best regards from Mexico
Honest and brutal thanks for sharing your humanity
I like the piece you have on the back.
Since you're sight reading it - you can keep your right hand anchored. You don't need strum beauty for sight reading. There are places where during arpeggiation your hand is moving like a half inch on each arpeggio.
Amazing.!! Whatta wonderful work of art. Btw, I'm a beginner and left-handed. Would you suggest what should I do to the guitar?
To the mere amateur this is absolutely fascinating. I'm sure the audience will love it . . .😎👍
Regards from Spain!
How many times will you play this before performing it?
And now you crown the post by telling us you're coming to Ireland! When and where? I would so love to hear you playing live.
ありがとうございます!
I alsoplayed four pieces de falla for soprano and guitar . Didn’t record myself at that time. It’s funny to see you studying. A bit like a mirror. However I always forget finishing my coffee.
SUCH A LOVELY LADY PLAYING A LOVELY SOUND.i dig that. Been drumming n jamming for bout 55 years. You MY LADY have gottit
Just prepared my fingernails for practice while watching, thank you friend, nice warm ups❤
The only pieces I learned in about 20 mins Were Le streghe Paganini Sonata 37 Paganini Lágrima Tárrega Caprice 2 Luigi Legnani
Beautiful Voicings 🎸💫🎵🎶🎵🎶🔆🫵🏆
thank you very much, have a great day
Wow! Just like many of us "mere mortals" as we tackle a new piece. Thanks for sharing, Alexandra!
Love your eyes when you look at the camera.
Thanks for sharing, Alex! I learn a lot from videos like these. Do you have any plans to come to Australia in the future? We're absolutely starved for good music over here, and all our best guitarists move to other countries-- just ask Stephanie Jones and Tommy Emmanuel!
Thank you for sharing, don't take this the wrong way, but it's nice to see you struggle :D Just makes it very relatable and shows the hard work behind your marvellous performances.
No lie, that was impressive!
I would love to hear you play some Sergei Rudnev. I think it would suit your sound really well.
So nice to see you not being able to get it right, it enhances all the performances when you're playing perfectly.
Listened to the Kathleen Battle -- Christopher Parkening performance of this. Good luck!
Your struggling at 10 minutes in is like me playing "well" (for me) after weeks of practice. 😜
Could you provide where you got the sheet music? I can't seem to find a pdf anywhere :/
Thanks. Very nice. I’ve never been to the islands. Only once to France.
Nothing to feel awkward about Alexandra. As someone who can't read music, or play classical, this was very impressive and informative to me. I was wondering though, when you work in these small ensembles, do you simply find the timing between each other to get a good 'feel', or do you think you benefit/would benefit from a conductor??
I wish I could read music like you. BTW why your strings are hanging too long at the tuning keys?
Was that a muted Villa Lobos etude I heard in the warm up ?
I dont play classical. But ive always wondered why the neck's are so wide. Can you get or have you played a thinner neck?
Could you at some point do a video for the Scarlatti Sonata K.333 piece you did for Siccas Guitars on your channel?

It took a while, lol, but I finally found it with one guitar
It's a relief to see that even a pro player still puts in a lot of effort when learning something new Thank you for your very down to earth video 👍 nb: your funny face 🤣
such a pretty! and talented lady👍
Confidence.You EXUDE IT
A cup of coffee ☕. That's the spirit🎼🎶.
너무 멋지십니다 ❤
After you finished learning then upload so I sit and enjoy the music not the practice :) You do the hard work and enjoy my coffee. 🤪
❤❤❤❤❤
Stupid question but what is your preferred action on a guitar?
❤
I’m glad I’m a carpenter .
Who would've thought a pro practices the same way as me :D I really enjoyed watching this
Thanks
What's the metal attachment you have on the back of the guitar?
@gardnep
3 ай бұрын
It’s a stand that is placed on the leg when sitting, usually plastic and called a guitar lift. They seem to stay better than the metal ones because they have 4 suction cups.
👍
What is it with these Spanish composers writing guitar music scored for piano? De Falla, Albeniz... Wonderful music though. I love your confidence in putting this learning session up, but with your beautiful tone I can hear what it is going to sound like.
Why play the higher action guitar? I wonder if it isn't written for flamenco guitar with fiery action? Good job however jumping in and conquering it!
Wow! This is why I never got very good. 3 minutes in, I'd get frustrated, and go make a sandwich. Relentless! Wonderful to watch you work your way through this! Inspiring! Knock 'em dead in Dublin!
It is so cute. It amazes me how the 🧠 works. Bonne continuation👍 thank You for sharing🥰
Oh yes Alex, a return, haha oh me givers🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
You mentioned that the action on this guitar was higher then your other guitar. That alone would challenge me.
Lets goooooooooo 😊😊😊
looks tough alright , great arpegio warm up though 😨😊
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🙋🏻♂️👍🏽🤩
Nice video Alexandra. Sounds like a difficult piece to learn. I can not read music notes, it all looked like Greek to me. 🙂
