took me 12 years to get the tremolo down, and now I have to memorise the piece. this is a hard beast to tame - 60 bars of hard work and pure beauty

@@j.p.8811 Des Kodur wants to convince himself that he gave up guitar because of expensive lessons. The real question is he gave up, as most of us gave up, because learning guitar requires a long term commintment, you must be willing to practice each day, at least, two hours for day. As of all things that requires a long terms commintment, he end up to fail. In the internet era, with a large amount of classical guitar material that you get for free, giving up because of expensive lesson is not a good excuse. Sorry Des Kodur

I love unedited videos, it is so real and shows how we, humans, make mistakes and correct them, until we perfect it. When others record and re-record dozens of times to get one measure correctly. I just love your video. I am the same thing, I don’t hide reality. You are a very good player.

Thanks so much for this look into how you interpret this masterpiece. As a classical guitar student at uni (years ago), this piece was my "holy grail" and perhaps I tried too soon to master it. It's always been a regret that I was never able to play it fluently. Your advice at the beginning is something I wished I had learned early on: Learn the technique first, then the piece. Your technique is impeccable and your tone is exquisite.

One of my favorite things about music is hearing and seeing the interpretation of the piece by the musicians or a soloist at a live performance. Same when I am performing. I see that you practice to find the right technique as well as your best interpretation of the music.

Thanks for this I am nearly 70 and been playing since I was 18, but I never was good at Tremolo, tended to avoid it (what a wimp lol) now in my 7th decade finally getting it and this helped a lot.. I also find 'Cancion de la hilandera' a good tremolo piece, I found that easier to tremolo than 'Recuerdos'

This is the best format for guitar:) I have really fall in love with it. Honestly, i have to say that i have never been watch your performance videos and i'm not planning to watch them because i very sure that you should be playing so beautiful all of them. But watching your pratice videos is feeling to me so warm and close to you. Because as a causal guitarist it is very enjoing to see that, be virtuoso like you or be casual like me practicing guitar has same hardships for all of us like a fingering, hard positions or comprehension to musical sentences. Please continue your "Practice with me " videos. Maybe with a Fernando Sor :))

This videos are really great, not only we can learn many crucial technique aspects in a short period of time but it is also very entertaining to watch, you are entertaining! . Your interpretations of the pieces are also worth mentioning. I find it very helpful to practice the piece from your point of view, an experienced guitarist who's advices are reliable. Please keep on making those :)

The different accent finger is a great tip to warm up, although my best warm excercise up to this day it's still the "one finger" tremolo. Just do paaa, pmmm, piii enough times until you feel like the pami is smooth.

The pronunciation of the title of the piece was perfect. You even rolled the r’s, which is simply great for an english speaking person.

Ramble as much as you want. Your tremolo became more even as the vlog went on. There are quite a few of these lessons on the tube, most try to do too much in too short a time. I’m not sure if I will ever play this but the walk through Florence past the Duma in the evening after dinner with a guitarist quietly playing recuerdos is something I will always remember.

I found practising the tremolo with rest-stroke as an exercise helped strengthen my tremolo.

I love your video, it's so realistic. That is how we all feel when practicing, a bit frustrated when practicing, proud when master it. One suggestion for your next video - could you talk about tendonitis in guitarists and how some people overcame it. I am not talking about some basic advice but how common the problem is among guitarists and maybe what really helped your colleagues, teachers or other people. It lasts for months in my case and I took a long rest, somebody suggested collagen not sure if it works. Professional guitarists also have these issues.

I've been trying to learn this but I am self taught and never took music classes, I appreciate the explanation of details like why a certain note should be emphasized etc. I can read tab and move my fingers and it sounds good, but I don't know why it sounds good!

I can give you all the physical explanations and music theory and stuff, but in the end the real answer is: It sounds good because you like it.

@Alexandra Whittingham: I am most grateful for all your work and efforts. I was born in 1984 in Portugal. That being said, there was a lot of english stuff on TV, so I became fascinated with learning that as a child. That of course grew into all sorts of things in my teen years and beyond, since english was the language to connect EVERTHING in the whole world together. By then the internet was full underway, I was in college so I missed a lot that was not concerning my immediate concerns (whilst still listening lots of classical music since they were my favourite, RIGHT?) MANY years later, I randomly found my first Alexandra video on YT, recorded in France by all means, so EXTRA lovely. I'm hooked ever since, even though I don't 1st person understand the challenges of playing the notes. Regardless, for me the most beautiful thing is: searching for it and making it possible regardless if you are born into the culture/place some 30y later or not . HONESTLY: everyone shouldn't care about it, the feeling is all that matters, regardless. Particularly for me growing up, I never thought the old guitar player goon in my village had some relation with Jane Austen, but after a few years both are WAY relavant - i CAN'T pick both, damn.

Has always been my favourite piece since hearing it as the theme tune for "out of town" presented by Jack Hargreaves. I always imagined it was part of a duet until seeing it played but still baffles me.

Je ne connais pas le francais vraiment bien mais si je te peux donner un conseil je te dira que l'anglais est vraiment important dans notre monde a ce temps et ca va t'ouvrir beaucoup de portes si tu sais t'exprimer en anglais (ou fermer si tu sais pas).
