Liftoff is the part of the coverage that gets shared and used in news stories, so they normally try and pack as much info about the mission into the first 10 seconds of commentary after liftoff. Unfortunately that's when you want to hear the rocket. But to be fair, it's when most viewers are happy to have a mix of rocket noise and commentary. It would be nice if they uploaded a separate clean-audio version.

Interesting that the main engine nozzle dosn't glow in the same way as spaceX's does. Off to find out why. (I expect it's different fuels and cooling)

  • @Lync512

merlin vacuum is radatively cooled hence the glow, and uses RP1 kerosene while RL-10 uses liquid hydrogen which burns cleaner and used an expander cycle that uses the fuel to cool the nozzle.

Space X not only has made the Science Fiction of the 50's a reality , Elon has manage to inject a little fun into space exploration (ie: Starman in the red Tesla). Watching the propulsive landings of the falcon 9 and falcon heavy ( and now the recovery of the fairings ) is not only technologically impressive but is also visually entertaining. I am looking forward to the 200 meter jump and then to the big payoff, Starship on it's way to the Moon, Mars and beyond . I'm within 2 hrs from Boca Chica and am tempted to go there to see it live. It will be " Space the final frontier These are the voyages of Space X . It's ongoing mission : To explore new rocket technologies .To establish colonies on the Moon and Mars. To go where no one has gone before. " Lighten up.. Don't be an old stick in the mud.

Omar Garcia Attacking someone for their opinion isn’t an argument. Attempting to belittle someone is transparent and is a definite indicator of a lower level of education. It is an attempt to sell sophistry. If you had an argument against my opinion it would very different. It wouldn’t attempt to equate our republic with some “empire” or equate the need for security with the fear of aliens. (Assuming aliens from off planet). You might have shown you have an argument if brought evidence for over abundance of existing tech in this area or evidence against the effectiveness for defending one’s assets. However you went down a different road and made yourself transparent. All the best for your future endeavors Omar.
