*Those police are out of control. Not all of them are like that though. I wish people would realize that yes, the system is flawed, but there are some police like these guys that take advantage of that. That makes it seem like everyone's a bad cop, however, there are other police that just do their day to day and are actually serving the community. I know if you factor in racism it get more complicated than that, but viewing it relatively and identifying the specific problems is better than generalizing the whole thing.

I think they' were trained this code talk for 'go ahead and shoot them, we'll just say we saw a gun.'' It's used just as much as the "stop resisting." The police aren't accountable to anyone. They should have to show their communities how much money they have to pay out for lawsuits and what happened to the cop in the lawsuit. Sadly, this is because, imo, many parents, have been trained to train their kids to be seen and not heard. Expressing emotion has regularly been seen as misbehaving. Punish emotions long enough and the children learn it is more dangerous to express yourself than it is to allow the atrocities to occur. It comes from the problem that the boomer generation was the first generation where the majority of persons got a decent education to high-school level or beyond. If you go watch some of the psa's from that time period some literally say, "...it is the child's responsibility to act as if they are happy to see their father return from work..." Now notice that even if they are not pleased that father is home, because father is abusive, they must still act as if they are happy. Otherwise, they are not properly obedient children and deserve punishment. And until a cycle is broken it will repeat. So those kids became the boomers which taught their kids the same rules. It really isn't until Gen Z became teenagers and now adults, before we have begun to notice the shift in mentality in some circles.

Hard to watch. Emotions too high on all sides. The "Stop resisting!" thing does need a deep dive. Especially if a k9 is involved. My very young son had to witness his dad being viciously attacked by a k9 while he was already face down with his hands behind his back. His screams caused his son and me to run outside to see what was happening to him. The handler standing next to another officer several feet away was still yelling for him to "stop resisting!" My husband kept yelling back "The dog won't let me, get the dog!" I saw the dog bite my husband's hand and pull his wrists apart again the last time he yelled "stop resisting!" Then he finally called the dog off of him. He had dog bites all over his hands, wrists, forearms, lower legs and feet. The dog bit a hole clean through his Van's and foot. They had to call the ambulance and he got stitches.

Laura, anyone researching the history of police in this country will find that this has always been the case. Things have escalated for many reasons, we do & have been laying down for them, from compliance on the streets (this is not a call for violence but rather an opportunity for respectful questioning & dialogue), to the courthouse where almost all defendants who are unable to afford effective council are either coerced are/feel intimated by the system/"their" public defender & often times don't have the luxury/time to fight the case (can't afford to lose their jobs) & familial restraints who will then feel forced to take a plea... STRIKE 1, the other 2 that follow, & follow they will, are only a matter of time. I've witnessed this far too often. Of course there are many other factors of how the system works for the system & convictions NOT for justice the oath all parties promised to uphold, from cops, to DA, to prosecutors, judges, etc. It's all about the twisted win. A public defender for example considers it a win to plea a defendant down, which is by all accounts conceding & losing to the DA! Imagine if sports played by those rules... why bother showing up! Is a marriage a success as long as their is no one suffers physical abuse! An incredibly low bar indeed. One of the last pieces to this multifaceted puzzle the jurors, who have strong faith in "law enforcement", never occurring to them that cops too are human and capable of being flawed particularly not when it comes to truth telling on the job, never mind the courthouse "under oath". I've only touched on a few issues with the "justice" system, feel free to research this further.

@Common Sense what about the Caucasian in the first vehicle that was in front of the college students vehicle? I think this is excessive based off the lack of reaction, not assuming that this was a racially targeted attack by police on young unarmed people simply driving. What about the other vehicle that also chose to run a checkpoint, making that decision as an educated adult as you perceived the two victims to be, should they not have had theur windows smashed, rushed by police, tased, being subject to police officers lying in a high tension situation which could very well result in the death of one or more victims etc. Since your name is common sense, please explain bc im so confused. The police officers most definitely were involved in perverting the course of justice, proven their word and actions untrustworthy, used excessive force etc. Explain now why you think its appropriate to pass the buck and place blame on the victims, and not the perpetrators? Also its very much possible that thet had seminars, late classes i really dont know their school schedule, and nor do you so you cant really assume that they just chose to break instruction from the mayor (which im sure there were exceptions to curfew, bc we can clearly see another vehicle in front and behind the victims vehicle and they werent detained for breaking curfew) just bc they wanted to. Its very possible they are telling the truth, yet a lying police task force chose to retaliate bc the victim decided to record their foul conducted against an intoxicated person. Ig you wouldve been apart of the group of officers using excessive force, since you dont want to take everything into consideration, you have access to the same info i do yet your deduction skills are off buddy. And yes, the police very much did break laws and their own policies so try again hun😘😘

@Common Sense they broke law after law after law? When where ? And you say no one was to be out on the streets .....looked pretty normal in the back ground to me these college kids were not the only ones on the street at all . If they were breaking a curfew the reaction should not be to drag them from the car and tease them and then yell he's gotta gun to try and get other officers to open fire on the male student . Your a fool if you think this is how law enforcement should treat any one.

Hope the outcome of this situation is in the favor of those two individuals. What they experienced is absolutely unconstitutional and uncalled for. Clearly police brutality and misconduct is a big issue in that area as is everywhere it seems like. Everyday more and more videos and news reports of brutality and misconduct at the hands of police is surfacing. But yet nothing is done. They are being allowed to ruin people’s life’s and get away with it without so much as a slap on the wrist. We need change and they need to be held accountable. Can only hope that everyone regardless of skin color, race, beliefs, etc, will stand up and say enough is enough and take the necessary steps to ensure this kind of degrading treatment is ended. For these two innocent individuals I sincerely hope for nothing but the best possible outcome for them.
