My first ever commander deck was Gishath, and I think I'm gonna rekindle that love with Atla. I like that she loves all kinds of big monsters, although dinos are still cool.

great deck tech! I built an Atla Palani deck a couple months ago and its been a ton of fun. I only play noncreature ramp with spells like rampant growth and also enchantments like utopia sprawl, trace of abundance, and other similar cards. seems to help improve consistency because you ALWAYS hit big creatures instead of "whiffing" on something like a sakura tribe elder. also if you have an effect gives atla at least +1/+1 you can go through your whole deck with mirror entity by stacking a bunch of activation costs with X = 0. 1 eldrazi titan lets you shuffle in and it turns into an infinite combo!

Harmonic Prodigy - double up on those Atla triggers

I have had my egg deck about 18 months and learnt lots of lessons with it. First I used to have instants to protect Atla which have now been replaced with spells that cheat in big creatures. In a game atla dies I eill build without her, if atla lives, I will build faster! I have also headed more into death triggers. Everyone fears the massive impact of 1 egg bursting because each creature effectively commands a boardstate 😂 if there is multi consequences for board wipes (like dealing damage to players equal to power of dead creatures) my board... Will build further without interruption. I initially had nothing smaller than a 10/10 as a deck building rule but I lowered that standard to a 5/5 (only exceptional ones). My lesson was mainly that the creatures power isnt enough to win, you really need cards that double all your creatures power, give trample and layers over eachother and gain combat steps to make the difference (hence damage doublers, extra combats etc which are on creatures smaller than a 10/10. I think the mistake in this deckteck is the small creatures like steve and the insect that gains counters for exileing graveyards. For one these creatures are too small and dont impact the board but 2, this decks an attacker, not a blocker. Put in avatar of the slaughter instead 🥰

Also, my deck has no slots used for haste at all. My sac outlets are instant, my favourite method though is dealing 1 or 2 damage to all creatures at instant speed. My eggs die, atla lives chump blockers are removed just before my turn and then my big creature can swing into a player who cant block (BRUTAL!)

As a long time Atla player myself I agree with a lot of this. For me protection and sac outlets are the number 1 thing the deck needs to really be able to play her consistently. I run many sac outlets and permanents to protect Atla. My own brew runs Possilby storm because it’s a great way to protect Atla and we don’t really need to cast from hand with things set up. I also run academy rector to go fetch it since sac outlets are abundant too. There’s a fun balance between sac outlets, protection primary goals with secondary goals of haste and trample applications. Wins by burn with purphoros, terror and stalking vengeance or combat with all the other big creatures and double combats. Overall it’s extremely reliant on commander even with cheating creatures from hand which I run a few. (New ghalta about to be a staple)

Subbed! recently back in the game after a 10-year hiatus, and first time trying out commander, this is the deck I'm gravitating to. Thonbite staff would make Atla go infinite when saccing to Ashnod's altar right? That way you can bring the entire deck out with haste and multiple combat phases...

This is true but it’s incredibly hard and rare to pull off. Thornbitenstaff is a dead draw most of the time. It costs 6 mana to equip it to Atla unless you draw it before you get Atla out which is low odds. Ashnod is always good but having to rely on getting both those artifacts is tough. I tried thornbite for a while and ended up taking it out.

Dinos are always the right answer. I'm thinking of having a big stack of fatties that I rotate through randomly every game to make things fun and random every game

good deck tech, though i don’t think steve nor mirror entity belong in this deck. You state that the purpose of the deck is to either ramp-> fatty or egg -> fatty. Due to variance, I would try to not play any creatures that don’t have a big impact on the board state.

Mirror entity's ability makes your entire board have all creature types (eggs too). Also you can pay 0 into it so all your eggs die and you get that many triggers

Mirror Entity is literally one of the best cards in the entire deck. It's a sac outlet that makes all of your creatures into eggs for 0 mana. There's no way in hell anyone should cut it.

I think there are 3 routes you can build your Atla Palani deck. #1: staxxx: similar to option #2 but it plays mainly cards that try to make your opponents not able to play. You allready play void winnover, Elish Norn and Vorinclex, so the addition would be cards like "Archon of valor's reach" and "Blazing Archon". I have to say that i would not play against decks like those because i am allergic to land destruction and keeping others from playing their deck. And i do not think that others have fun playing against it. You really need a fixed playgroup where something like this is ok. #2: big ones: This variant plays only the best creatures who have an immediant impact on the field. In short: When your creature hits the field and your opponents say/think "not so bad... we can deal with this later", then it is not good enogh to be played. You allready have many of those in your deck like Blightsteel Collossus and Kozilek for example. #3: combo: This variant plays even less creatures. It's whole reason is to combo off with infinite sac outlets which gives infinite etb's or the mirror entity combo. Kozileg and Ulamod for shuffle back your graveyard; Worldspine worm for infinite tokens; etali to exile your opponents libraries; Terror of the peaks to shoot infinite damage and so on. For the mirror entity combo you need a +1/+1 counter on atla which changes many cards. There is even an option which only plays 3 creatures and only combos of mirror entity. Of course, combos are not every playgroups thing. So again, this variant comes with a "handle with care"-sign. For your deck: Judging from your deck, it seems like all goes in your playgroup. Still, there are some cards i do not think they belong in your deck. Great henge wouold be one of them. Otherwise a great card, but as soon as you go infinite with maskwood nexus you draw your library which is something you do not want. All creatures in your deck, you would be disapointed with, after sacing an egg should not be in there. I was wondering if you ever had a problem with not drawing a sac outlet because i do not see very much in your deck. I play 13 [12 after recent changes] sac outlets in my deck and i am sometimes missing one. If youl like some ideas for brainstorming then here is my decklist: archidekt dot com /decks/4227498/atla_palani Of course you can tell me what you would change in my deck. I am open ear with that. :)

@@lothwitchviewing3776 The only problem i see when you play dinosaur tribal is that you have a pretty hard time to make the deck strong. (Only a problem if you want a high powered deck in the first place) Aside from Etali, dinosaurs are not that strong alone. Kind of like slivers. You allways want some of them on board. To achieve that i would want to add all the token doubler and death trigger doubler.
