ATDI is better than the mars volta..why? simple enough, BALANCE..Omar and cedric brought the element of experimentation while Jim and the other kats brought the traditional feels..TMV is super off the wall experimental and thats why i love them too..Sparta is traditional yet unique in their own sound, tone..which is why i love them too

Yeah, I agree with the few that say that the 2 minutes of tuning is damn pointless.

He's motioning to the monitor engineer, telling him to put more of his guitar in his mix so he can hear it. Speaking of the engineers, who the hell turned up the keys so damn loud.

i just realized that omar's 19/16 solo in 'take the veil cerpin taxt' sounds like a more developed version of the line that he plays in 'rolodex...'. you can really tell at the beginning of this video when he slows it down.

frances the mute wasn't like deloused. deloused was almost like listening to a more progressive adti. frances was definitely a milestone. i feel it showed how much omar and cedric matured on that album. it was equally experimental as it was accessible. the best part was they didnt lose their edge even while singing a ballad.

I do prefer atdi over mv, but the songs "Inertiac ESP" and "Eriartaka" (don't know how its spelled) were what got me convinced that Cedric and Jim are still badass. Of course i've expanded the playlist, but MV's fusion of spanish and english is fucking genious.

i freaking love ATDI, but i always think of it as cedric and omars teenage riot period, the mars volta on the other hand is an artistic masterpiece, much more mature, musically improved. Still you can catch their juvenile hardcore roots in TMV as well. Ill always be happy and kill myself for those guys as long as they never turn mainstream.

I think it is unfair to even compare TMV and ATDI. They are two totally different bands. Both are amazing, but both were going for completely different sounds and forms of expression. Both bands and a huge part of rock history. It's great that ATDI and reuniting!!!! Hoping for more tour dates other than Coachella

take a guitar, or a drum, or a bass, or a keyboard, or microphone, and so forth... sit on your bed, now try to write an o.r.l. song from 2008 - 2011, or a tmv song, ... or find a band that could play it... okay, or if think it is too prog... try to imagine a band that constantly creates sounds you haven't heard before... when they were young, they made sonic youth's early punk days look old, and as they get older, they create new types of sounds you've never heard before... get with the program.

the reason u hear 1 guitar is because the band was tight enough that it only sounded like one. Don't get me wrong, I think Omar is the better musician of the two, but the band wouldn't have been what it was without Jim on backing vocals and rhythm guitar. but seriously how can u not hear 2 guitar parts in any of the songs? its always pretty obvious.
