    Appreciate seeing the products and their jacks. Is the orange jumper cable that connects the ONT to the gateway some proprietary special cable? Want to move my gatway and will need to purchase a longer cable to connect the two.

    That one is just a cat5e cable. Should be under 100 meters long. If you decided to move it to another room. Just make sure all jacks are either 568a or B.

    I just moved back to AT&T and had to replace the 210 with a 320. I’m subscribed to Gigapower only see 50/200. I think that my ONT is in the attic, and am using the ONT connection only. I know that my LAN is good because I was getting 850/850 with C-Spire. Is the SFP connection required to get Gigabit speed?

    Great video. If I have att fiber with the 526AC gateway, do I still need to connect the copper line? Situation is, I had to relocate the box, internet works with the fiber connection. However, I am not sure if I need the copper (your green cable). is this used for upload or something? Thanks.

    AT&T is scheduled to send a tech out to the house tomorrow to disconnect my old DSL service which I've had since April 2006 and is rated for 6.0mbps and switch me to AT&T fiber 300 service which they claim is rated 300mbps. My house was built in the early 60's and is a brick house. All my utility boxes are located on the west end of the house. CableTV, phone box and my electric power meter box. My desktop computer is currently set up in a bedroom on the part of the house which faces south; not anywhere near the west end where all the power boxes are located. AT&T in my area no longer will go in attics here and do wall drops. Bell South did do that back in the late 90's. Do you think I'll have to move my computer to a bedroom on the west end of the house to be closer to all the utility boxes on the west end of the house? One tech is scheduled to come out tomorrow and his time here is estimated to be 3 to 4 hours to switch me over from DSL to Fiber. Your feedback would be appreciated since I know nothing about what the tech will be doing tomorrow.

    I noticed the white modem does not have an coaxial on it.. so does AT&T have a way to keep U-verse TV working without the coaxial connection ? I currently have the black modem but was told I should consider the White modem. Can you share your thoughts please.

  • @purewhips1

    @purewhips1

    You Can keep uverse tv on it. But the tech would need to run a cat5 line into that room. Or convert the wired box to wireless. Now if they can’t drop a line due to placement or make wireless due to distance then you’ll have to keep the coax on the black gateway. Or just cancel uverse since it’s no longer updated with new boxes.

    If your Internet is still down, I’ll ask you to basic question first How old is your gateway if it’s over a year and a half you’re gonna need a new one from AT&T If the answer is within a year How are the extenders and what model do you have? If you have gen one, throw those out, it’s not gonna work Gen 2 still work as long as the new software hasn’t hit the system Always use the Smart Home Manager app to find proper placement for the gateway. If you are running a Wi-Fi map test and it shows a red thumb you’re too far if it shows yellow and green is too far away from it you might have a latency issue you wanna place it where the green and yellow swap places Now, if you want to use a third-party router mesh You still want to go to plan a to make sure the gateway is at least a year and a half more If it’s Older than that, you’ll still have the same issue

    If it keeps going out and it’s not a power surge. Then att needs to send out a tech and have them scope the fiber ends to make sure they are clean. And if not. They need to replace them. But on the simple side. Make sure all your lines and connected are properly seated into the gateway.

    If it didn’t come with the SPF. Then that means you have a 010 ONT somewhere in the house. Should be in the garage or a smart panel. The port you’re looking for is going to be a red Ethernet port on the wall. Get that Ethernet cord and hook it up to the red port of the gateway.

Has anyone been in the attic that might have gotten caught on the line. If so. You’ll want to make a ticket for a tech to come out and repair the services.

    Prem tech for att 9yrs here. At first maybe thought you were also a tech but as soon as you said “green sfp” for under 1gbp and red for over, I knew you weren’t lol. Umm both gpon-“green” and xpon do under 1 gig it’s red”xpon” that does the 2 and 5gbp speeds which no one needs! Also the 800# that send you the CSI kit may send you wrong sfp, aka your circuit/neighborhood is xpon not gpon. (Happens a lot in “overlay” neighborhoods, which means att went and laid fiber where it was normal adsl copper. Listen people do not order any speed over 1gb heck not even 500mbps. You don’t need it, you’ll never see those speeds on your Walmart bought laptop or tv. It’s a waste of money. And us as techs loved those failed “CSI”customer self install” repair tickets. 😂 also the 320”white modem” you’d connect it to a fiberjack. Will work with the 010ont”small white box” connected to the red Ont port but not designed for it. Anyways decent video. But probably definitely confused the average person doing a CSI, as most aren’t tech savvy or know how to even plug in a phone cable to the wall, but know how to work TikTok like a pro. You confused them having the 5268rg, 010ont, 320rg, and abjack, “att copper jack” all together in the video.
