Exploring Nighttime Capabilities: Analyzing Interior & Exterior Lighting Usability The all-new G80’s ability to maximize passenger comfort and design flexibility while balancing performance and safety capability all stems from its platform design.
The G80’s rear-drive unibody structure has 6% greater tensile strength than that of the previous G80, thanks in part to increased use of high-strength steel and hot stamped parts ( 42% more hot stamped parts than previous.) They make up the A- and B-pillars, floor crossmembers as well as rocker panels and provide the highest possible strength through hot forming and quenching processes.
The roof crossmembers, transmission tunnel, front chassis extensions and parts of the rear structure are made of advanced high-strength steel, while the cowl, floor panels and rear parcel shelf are comprised of high-strength steel. As a result of this material placement and optimization strategy, the G80’s M3 platform is 6% lighter than that of the previous G80 (55 lbs less).
A newly added horizontal strut brace, die-cast aluminum front and rear shock towers, and a rear subframe benefiting from rear stays and increased bushing size, further enhance rigidity and improve NVH characteristics. Organic geometry was used during the design iteration process to leverage the efficiencies of nature and obtain the lightest and strongest possible structure.
As a result of the careful design and material choices, torsional rigidity of the new model surpasses the outgoing car by 3%. These and myriad other advancements imbue the 2021 G80 with the highest level of dynamic driving performance while maintaining the comfort, stability and safety expected of a Genesis.

I looked at Lexus and Mercedes. I think the G80 is the best value overall. It's more than enough and saving you thousands. It checks all the boxes. Perfect retirement ride.
I was surprised by the low beam cut off, it's one of the highest stock setting I heve seen, thanks to the design it's doesn't blind other driver!

@@mfahadg19 The 2013 and 2015-2020 are more comfortable, they have more headroom space than the newer one. They also offered more trunk space if that's of consideration to you. In terms of performance, they're all about the same. The 2021 is definitely more stylish. Avoid the 4 cylinder models, too small of an engine for the weight of this car. If I had to choose from all three generations, I'd stick to the G80 3.3T Sport from 2019-2020. It feels the sportiest and has the most understated look that has aged well.
Because of these type of vehicles with all the tech,genuine wood,top notch leather,interior/exterior lighting , long warranties and the absolute WOW 🤩 factor. Lexus,infinity,Acura will all have to step up their game or else. Do this is great for competition in the auto industry. Kudos Genesis 👏

I love the Genesis lighting. I have a 2023 GV70. I wish the brake lights would come on when the lighting is in the OFF position and daylight strips are on. I understand why it doesn’t, just wish it did since I often run the daytime light strips at dusk when they look the best 😎. It is possible to run just the front strips with brake lights on, but the strips aren’t as bright as the daytime lighting.

wow those low beams are impressive and the notch is genius. perfectly placed and by the time the oncoming car is outside of the notch they're above the beam. well done genesis and great video

This vehicle is one of the best for a car and it could be improved. FCA and Ford do fairly well. Some brands seem to take advantage of the fact that customers don't typically inspect the vehicle at night to see inadequacies before purchasing. I want people to see what they are getting into beforehand. It is an insult to customers that pay $35k+ on a new vehicle and it lacks a light in the glove compartment and other key places.

I will take delivery of a 2024 Electrified g80 Prestige in a few days, and I am assuming the exterior and interior lighting will be essentially the same as in your review. Looking forward to switching from Lexus to Genesis!
In my country the G80 high beam is matrix system can dim individual cars as needed unfortunately in US is not allowed for some reasons

Come on Genesis, why did they have to use the red brake light as the rear turn signal? They should be separate and amber, especially when you're gonna pay a fortune for this thing. Red turn signals are stupid and should not be a thing anymore

I think that over time the interior ambient lighting will begin to feel a little night clubish and gimmicky . I think plain white strips is more befitting a luxury vehicle. Although the ones in the Mercedes seems to be much more high quality.
