Completely agreed with the low wattage GPUs... I don't want to lug around a 16" laptop along with 280W power brick, which adds a ton of heft too. I want a 13 or 14" laptop, thin and light, and then tote it around with 130W charger and keep the whole package light. I don't have issue giving up that last 20-30% performance for "actual" mobility, I've jumped to Mac a few years ago for mobility and battery life with M1 and gave up on gaming, but this will now let me get back into Windows and gaming.

So this is exactly what my logic has been. I travel extensively for work, and I like playing some relatively light games while I'm in hotel rooms or Airbnb's around the globe. I did run an Alienware M15 R4 for awhile, but that was pretty bulky and not terribly attractive to bring out in a business meeting, and between the power brick and the laptop, it was heavy to slog around airports. I switched to a MBP 16" for awhile, primarily for battery life (I figured it could do some gaming.....uhh...not really). I was always a big Surface Pro fan, so I've been eager to try out the Z13. I'm not sold on the Acronym styling (and it's never available), so I picked up a Z13 with RTX 4050 at Best Buy recently. And I must say, it's a pretty impressive machine. Very tempted to get rid of my Razer Blade 15 and keep the Z13 Flow instead (mostly play lighter titles such as CS:GO, Rocket League and Doom: Eternal, and several older RTS's). For example, I just weighed my Flow Z13 plus power brick (1944 grams, keyboard attached). Add in my external, 17" Asus portable monitor (XG17): 3050 grams, including monitor, Flow Z13 and power brick. My Razer Blade 15 with power brick: 2944 grams alone, no external monitor. So for basically 100 grams more, I get two displays, including one being 240 Hz, 17" FHD (with it's own battery, by the way).

I was able to snag the Acronym off of Amazon for MSRP a couple of days ago. The main reason I got it was for true portability. I wanted something that I could do on the go drone video editing with. I had a 15.6 inch laptop with an i7 and a 1060 that was my main computer and also my laptop, then I went to a desktop with a 3rd Gen Ryzen 7 / 3070 setup and added a 16 inch 2019 i9 / Radeon 5500M MacBook Pro for my "portable". Both laptops were not necessarily fun to lug around from Missouri to Hawaii, especially when I didn't even really use them that much. I'm looking forward to my trip to Hawaii in November with the Acronym.

I picked up a lightly used/open box 2023 Z13 on Amazon for $1300 couldn't pass it up at that price. Even was able to get the 3yr extended warranty through Asus. Coming from the iPad Pro M1 and the Surface Pro 8 I'm blown away what this tablet can handle. It's actually quiet and can play just about any game with DLSS enabled. The Surface Slim Pen two works but the pen experience is pretty bad wobbly lines but I hardly use the pen anyways. Battery life sucks but that is a given for the size of the device. Anyways really happy with it and hope it lasts for years, fingers crossed had bad experiences with Asus in the past.

Thanks you for the information! I'm considering this device as one that replaces all my other gaming, officing, and tablet devices. Seems pretty good in that sense.

Ive seen a bit of people complain about the keyboard being confusing but I havent had much trouble using it at all. Adjusting to it pretty nicely, plus it looks really neat.

The increase in ram is a much bigger deal than most people think. We all want background apps running. Also, I am not sure why people are upset with the price, the 4070, 32 GB ram, pen, and 135W power supply are worth the 650 increase in price.

BTW I did adjust some settings, GPU in eco mode, battery saver on always on and I am getting almost 6h30m, for my needs when not connected is great

It's good to know the pen support is better with the original pen. Impressive performance from the 4050 considering it's the base variant. I just can't imagine the 3050 from previous year doing this. Will we get similar tests on the X13 as well? Would be looking forward to it!

Ouwch,,, For almost double (about 70% ) more of the original 4050 price, definitely not for everyone. Just bought the 4050 and loving it, sad it’s only 6Gb VRAM and 16Gb of RAM thought. My main use of this laptop is for work, but often use it for high demanding games. Just thinking of using the acronym in a meeting is kinda awkward. People will definitely stare at, and asking the price 😂. But those score thought,, just wow!!

Wanna know what type of work are you doing to use Z13 for? Is it design base? As im thinking to get the 4050 version for design job that involve photoshop and basic modelling. Would be great thanks if you can answer.

It’s sad that those corners aren’t removable. It’s the only thing stopping me from getting this, it just looks horrendous. Also changing the essentially perfect stand and making it worse for “cool looks” is so dumb

I like the rubber feet on the stand. I do wish the keyboard has BT because that vertical mode may be awesome but without a BT option it is pretty pointless.

Can you test a 130 watt charger that’s not made by Asus? I remember last years z13 the non Asus usb c chargers were limited to 65w

i found the surfacwpro8 with its pen had a major judder if u had even a thin screen protector on. So for about 5 7 months having a surface8Pro i never knew it was a screen protector issue. now my surfacepro8 is getting replaced with a {asus z13 Normal version 2023} i like the non acronym style more. also i found my self not using an iPadPro with pen as much but a good windows tablet in my use was used way more. i still say a normal laptop is good as u can bend the screen towards u more without it falling over Eg: if u was in a cafe at a high table top window seat but i do feel tablet pcs are becoming a way more better option.

I ordered it because of your video. Im in India so its almost a double of what it costs but Im a massive cyberpunk 2077 fan (600hrs) and this thing is so damn ugly with a junk tech look that it totally hooked me in. One thing to ask can this be use on a bed? Im coming from the surface 2 (gtx1050) and primarily use lapz on beds hence tablet with no lower exhaust make sense to me. Also in India they gave u like 2 years warranty extension pretty much free.

Are you running those benchmarks at 100% fan? Those temps are very very low. Also undervolting the 4050 should allow maxing the clocks at 2370 at around 55watts stable.

What about the Anker 140W PD3.1 Battery you quickly showed ? Can it charge the Z13 at 130W ? From the specs it seems the tablet can reach above 100W charging by uping the amps at 20V, but PD3.1 reach 140W by uping the voltage up to 28V and the max amp is 5A, so maybe with custom chargers we can only get up to 100W charging ? Did you open the ACRONYM edition ? Many people are wondering if it is possible to get the corners out or replaced somehow ? Thanks

Anker doesn't work for more than 100w. Only the proprietary asus charger can do 130.

i thought the corner pieces was to protect the tablet from drops. i cannot find any case for this tablet.

Does your speakers sound normal? Mine sounds a little distorted, especially when I use the Dolby setting enabled. My biggest dislike is the keyboard lettering which is hard to see and not sure what some of the letters really mean. How do you change volume setting? There's a button to mute the speaker, but no volume control on the keyboard. Asus does not offer any other keyboard or even a replacement keyboard if you want to order one. They ask you to send it in for repair when you just want to buy a replacement. I'm disappointed that the keyboards are not interchangeable as I was hoping to use the one from a regular Z 13 flow. Thanks for your review now I know the keyboards aren't interchangeable.

@@Jojosselinn Yeah I ended up getting a glass screen protector made for the normal Z13 (non-Acronym). It fits perfectly, the cutouts for the cameras / sensors up top are the same!

Important question, Does it have a Sim card slot? LTE compatible or only used with WiFi? What if there's no WiFi connection available? As a digital nomad gadget that would be just carrying a piece of metal. Please if anyone knows the answer let me know.

The palm rejection of the Z13 is terrible when writing with the pen.

So I just got mine and I thought the B key was a defect. But I see the same exact mark (missing paint) on yours. 🤔

For a diference of 25-30 peak extra frames seems the 4070 is not worth it compared to the 4050 😮

@@brain2cloud156 Yes, its my biggest complaint with the device, however after using it for a week or so, I've gotten used to it, and have learned to trust my muscle memory more, which has shown me I'm a much better touch typist than I even knew.

Hi, I got this Acronym version ai it looks and performs amazing! One inconvenient about the Acronym keyboard is that you don't have Page Up / Page Dn / Home /End keys or combinations. The standard version has Fn combinations with the arrow keys though, so for typing the Acronym version is unfriendly from this point of view. Couldn't find any info on how to workaround this. Anybody knows?

The surface pen had the same problem on a surface notebook. It is a problem with the pen.

Do you have a 4060 version that you can compare?

Z13 (black version) does multiple colors, Z13-ACRONYM is only white.

Ive been trying to use it for drawing but it has awful palm rejection, meaning when you put your hand before the pen your knuckle or palm will make unwanted marks. Theres an option to disable touch when using the pen but it only disables it when the pen is in its short range to the screen. I did find a way to disable touch completely which works perfect, just annoying having to do that every time. Seems like more of a microsoft/windows issue though.

OH YEAH it also comes with different tips for the pen that you can change to your liking and trust me they all feel different some how haha

Is battery life any better than 2022 Z Flow? Returned that model because it was just plain awful when it comes to battery. 3-4 hours of web browsing and that's it.

It's not any better. You can get creative with settings to try to mitigate things a bit, but you aren't getting more than 4-5 hours on this thing.

@@corckie555 Depends on how limited you have your processor in battery mode, but I'm seeing around 15W power draw average just browsing, the battery is a 56Wh size, thats 3.73 Hours.. If I play with it and lock down the processor (throttlestop) and minimum brightness I can get around 8 watt power draw which gets you 7 hours, but the stock silent profile in armoury crate isn't going to do that for you right out of the box..

I get around 3 hrs web browsing, youtube, google sync, office work. Although it feels good not my style at all, I think ASUS never thinks about battery life, I had previous ROG Zephyr and battery was awful too. I am thiking moving to a thinkpad p15v gen3 and the only reason is battery life, I can have a decent graphics card and battery life around 8 hrs. I like surface pro 9 but I will keep looking

Its in the video, but yes much better for portrait, the original will tip and can tip super easy if you try it. The Acronym is solid in portrait mode.

Will regular keyboard ver fit on Acronym?

Ordered one of these. Just waiting for it to be shipped. Also not a fan of the weird letters on the keyboard

In silent mode, seems to use 10-15w at idle, which means on a 56 wh battery... 4-5 hours when not doing much. If you lower brightness to the lowest level and turn off the keyboard backlight, seems to pull 7-8 watts minimum which would get you maybe 7 hours going to extreme lengths to preserve battery.

I ve not decided whether to buy Z13 or not after watching some videos about Scar 16. I love portability of Z13 while I crave for the power and gorgeous display of Scar 16. Any advice?

It's a valid thought... I went from the Flow X16 which has a beautiful 16" display, to this 13" and while performance is great, display is great, great refresh rate and no ghosting, but the 16" size is still something I miss sometimes. It's going to come down to a matter of preference.

I got the Z13 ACRNM RMT02 literally was landing off a plane and got the notification that was in stock so I ordered. Its been almost three weeks now, I can say that I like the portability althouth I think surface pro 9 does a better job in using it as a tablet, the issue is the corners are bulky so you need to remove the keyboard. Battery life, I got around 2.5 - 3 hrs in web surfacing, spotify and office work (best battery life) Only one C port and one usb, for the price meh!

I have been using it for around 3 weeks, in power mode best battery life, youtube, spotify and office work I get around 3 hrs

Pretty worth considering all the specs and crazy accessories you get with it. I dont think it will ever restock again either.
