In this very swift video I show you how to replace the battery on the Asus X553M. It should take you no more than 10min to complete and batteries are very cheap (around 20 on ebay).

Why was it necessary to remove the screws from the underside of the laptop?

What is the recommended process to charge the battery once it’s been installed in the Asus notebook and is being powered up for the first time? Also, would you recommend the battery replacement action if the original battery is already swelling and physically pusing the keybord housing up (as well as the trackpad? (They are both still functioning at present.) Thank you for your replies.

Hi Will, yes 100% replace it or you risk further damaging the laptop. I normally allow the battery to fully charge and then fully dis-charge a couple of times. That typically will set the precedent for future.
