My Asos A56C laptop was on 0%, I was given this laptop for free with no explanation, then it wouldn't charge while plugged in. Just trying a few things you mentioned, and after release of static and discovering that a thin piece of plastic had broken off where one of the locking clamps for the battery is, I turned it on it is now already at 7%. You beauty! Thank you.

Excellent guide! I took a 15-year-old laptop out of storage. Lithium-ion battery. Figured it was dead when I plugged in the AC and got an "undetected %" charge reading, but to my surprise it slowly crawled back up to 100% over several hours. I unplugged it, used it, battery seemed to drain at a normal rate. A few days later it was dead. Back to "undetected %" with the AC connected and won't even begin to charge again. My guess is that the ancient battery couldn't take the shock of being used again after so many years of inactivity. I'd be keen to know your thoughts if you have any. Thanks!

My problem is not the battery: (installed a new internal one). Laptop is an FX505gt. Works perfect when plugged. But after few seconds ON in only battery, it turns off completely. Battery shows fully charged or near 100%. Problem started after one of those Windows updates. Windows version is 1909, but at the Asus website it says "using 1903". Asus tech people have no idea what it is and want to charge $80 to see it. Still I have seen other people having the same issue. By now I have fiddled with BIOS, reinstalling drivers and resetting several things, even checking the battery outside o the machine just in case the reading was wrong. Any ideas? Thanks.

An easy way to see if there is a hardware or software issue is to see if the battery will charge in the BIOS (BIOS battery charging status). If the battery is discharged but the power brick will allow the computer to turn on usually means the power brick is working properly. Also worth noting is a bad motherboard may exist and will discharge any new battery as well. I got a new battery and it simply discharged. I can run my laptop without the battery with the AC power brick only. BIOS says battery not charging. Looks like motherboard in my case.

Hi I'm trying out your suggestions on an Asus X553M loaded with win 8.1and have done everything up until uninstalling the battery driver which I am worried about doing in case I can't reinstall it on this old machine. I am actually trying to up grade it to win 10 using the win 10 media creation tool but even though I have done a factory reset, this keeps coming up with win10 failed to install so I'm thinking that if there is a minor fault with the laptop it may well effect the installation process. When you first power on the laptop and get to the desk top the little battery charging icon animation is doing it's thing but then stops and says its plugged in and charging but you don't see any difference in the icon after several hours. You can turn it off and remove the charger and try turning it on but nothing happens. Anyway back to the beginning will I be able to reinstall the battery driver (says after checking for updates that this is the best driver for the operation) thing after uninstalling it or will I have to search for it on line and if so where...?? It's win 8!!! (bad OS)

I have an Asus TUF Laptop, yesterday I’ve found out the same problem. (0%, plugin) So I go to the Store where I buy it but they told me that they will just ship my laptop to the service center if it’s okay with me because it’s still covered with the warranty. (which I don’t want to because I am using this for my work, no available backup) So I decided to try fixing it by myself (even it will void the warranty. It’s okay with me as it will be expired after a couple of months) I tried this step Sir over and over but was not effective at first. I was hopeless since earlier today. I’ve watched many tutorial, almost same as yours until this afternoon, When I also saw 0% battery yesterday, I saw that there’s an update for BIOS from Armoury Crate. So earlier I also try to bypass the 20% battery requirements of BIOS update. After searching for different tutorials and checking forums I try on removing the internal battery then use only power adapter/charger and it worked! Bios is now updated through the Asus Armoury Crate App. But still battery is 0% after inserting the internal battery and performing the EC reset. So earlier I told myself to buy a new battery. But I’m still thinking why it says 0% but can be unplugged for a couple of minutes. When I plugged in the charger the indicator is white which I think that it must be orange/red bcoz practically battery is low. Actually must be dead becoz it’s 0% lol. When I unplugged the charger there is no light indicator so I am still wondering why. So for one more time I unplugged the charger for a couple of munites waiting for the laptop to shutdown with the 0% battery (it lasts for more than 5minutes I think which is not ideal in a 0% battery), I tried it because I want the battery indicator to become red which is ideal for a low battery. Then, before it shutdown while watching another tutorial (referring to kzread.info/dash/bejne/Z3WWm9qifLnRcbw.html) , I tried also to uninstall only “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery (charger still nplugged) while battery is in 0% - After uninstall there is a message Battery is very low, then next is windows is shutting down. It restart automatically I think because of uninstall process. Then when I was on the login page, the battery indcator becomes red!!! (while the screen turnoff, i think because tge battery is nearly on real 0%) but still the rgb light keyboard is on, so I just wait for a couple of secs to see what will happen. (on that time I’m kind of happy because the battery indicator becomes red haha which I want to see) Then I decided to plug the charger immediately, still nothing happen, RGB keyboard is on, screen is black out and the battery light indicator is red. So I pressed power button once and the screen turnned on!! When I login and checked, the battery it is not 0%, its 1% and it’s charging!!!! As of writing this it is now 50% haha thanks Sir!!! Thanks God I didn’t quit and the trial and error works for me! Ps. I think I tried more than 5 times opening my laptop because the battery is inside. Tried it since yesterday, but I know that your tutorial process still helped me a lot Sir! So a BIG BIG THANKS Sir! Sorry for my english and my story haha just sharing to give other idea that can be useful as well. But don’t forget it is very risky if you don’t have background on something like this. I have a slight background so I tried and take the risks 😊. Thanks again Sir

Hello! Thanks for the super detailed troubleshooting process very helpful. On step 2, battery says 15V but the original charger that came with it says 19V, that ok? Charger came with the unit.

Yes. The charger does not need to match the battery. The battery will often be lower. The charger does need to match what is printed on the computer.

I usually get my used parts on sites like Ebay, Amazon, etc. They have pretty good return policies so if it does not work, its easily returnable. Also, make sure you get a brand name Asus battery and not a compatible generic one.

Not sure if I understand your entire comment. If your battery is bad then it should be replaced. Its not safe to try and 'repair' batteries

After uninstalling, you would restart your computer and see if its working. If not, go in and update the computer as seen here; kzread.info/dash/bejne/dniqlMmDdM3Mf7A.html. If that does not help, then you most likely just need to replace the battery. Let me know if you need any more help :)
