What i love with him is not only a great electronics teacher, also great ethics; " make a good diagnise, make a fair price" . I also disagree with comments like "dodgy" :), i rather call it pragmatical, cost effficient, and solution oriented. Keep the great job up.
The Alcohol trick is awesome !! Thanks to one of your previous video I managed to fix 2 HP Laptop for my children! Thank you and Have a great weekend !!

You aren't the only one from Portugal here :). I agree, many other youtubers strive for good editing and such, but lack what's important: the content.
Hi Sorin. I don't know why yt was not showing me your videos on my feed. I'm subscribed and I was thinking you were not publishing videos anymore. With this video you came back to my feed suddenly after nearly two months not showing your content. I'm glad you are still doing this great didactive content.
Nice tip about the flashing light in the power supply!
Have a nice weekend Sorin
Your just so good at this stuff. i don't know how you do it so quick.
my sister gave me a laptop same with the one you repaired and with similar issue ..I followed your step by step diagnosis and repair and amazingly it also had same shorted capacitor..you saved me a lot of hours and probably patience just to repair my sisters laptop..thank you!!!!
i have learnt so much from this man he is the best teacher ever i have fixed many laptops thanks to watching his videos
Brilliant video, mine has the same problem but it was the other cap that had shorted! Thank you
Love your faultfinding methodology, 10/10 would buy a pint
Finally friday and new video from Sorin.Best day of week :)
glad to see you here on youtube again, i missed you, good one about the power supply indicator, i again learned something today, ty so much
I'm a beginner and I finally found a good professional. Thank you very much for the content 🔥 I also btw have a blue Lenovo which is dead lol.
I very much appreciate your videos. Being confined on a small island in the southern Philippines, all dead and lame laptops land on my desk. Currently I am overhauling or repairing 3 laptops in Japanese language. Your hints and ideas almost always help me to find the origin of the problem. The alcohol trick is one of the best. I use local rum. Cheers and thanks.
Have a nice Friday...I love your technical skills...may Allah blessed you and your family...you are very very good man .thank you for your teaching us.👍👍👍
Very good repair, teacher, we miss you with your videos, thanks for the tips, greetings from South America

Hello Mr Sorin, I hope you can do more videos of small board repair ( different electronic gadget board like ). small board are easy to understand for beginner like me and very educative. and I think that would help to learn how to test components and find the fault with your way to diagnostic. Nice Friday and good weekend ;) Regards.
thank you for share experience ,it is Important for me
Good job. Greetings from Brazil.
Thank you sorin you are a genious. The only time i would use petrol on a laptop is to set fire to it after a failed attempt to fix it :). have a great weekend.

Nice laptop. Hehe I fix same one a few days ago.
Greeting from Mexico
Thank you Sorin for this video. I hoped you would record a video for this Asus laptop that you diagnosed during the repair of that Panasonic DVD player yesterday. Did you ever have a case where laptop actually starts and shut down after few seconds or a minute during windows loading? I had recently two cases of „ No power“, in both cases voltage on power connector was about 1 or 2V. In both cases there was a shorted Mosfet producing some power rail (GPU or 5V). After mosfet replacement laptops start but power is cut after few seconds or minutes.

Would you ever burn some thing else out if you bypass the mosfits & limiter? Those caps, are they polarized? Thank you, I always learn a lot. Peace
11:39 wow! finally you are gentle for the motherboard :) all pads under the capactior will survive.Yeeeey! :) it could be even more nicer if you could take any donor board from your scrap and took from there good capactior from 19v power rail and replace it here. It is 1minute job. but maybe one day will see that on you video :) fingers cross :)
Nice 🔥🔥🔥
Not good friday but great friday.
Thanks for the video. Did you replace the bad cap with a new one?
Got the same problem çan you fix for me
Hi, thank you your videos, I really like your channel, I have a question: about the kind of petrol you use, is it an normal gas we use for machines car, bus... or some thing special for electronics. thanks again
Nice video Sorin, whos that bold handsome guy in the back?
Hi Sorin, thanks for the beatiful content as usual. I wanted to know ask two questions to you: 1) it is advisable to solder a new capacitor where the old one was removed or it doesn't change much the behaviour of the circuitry. 2)Which kind of alcohol did you use to spot the hot zone? Was it Izopropanol? If no which kind was it? And may izopropanol make shorts between the wet components? Thanks so much I have been following you for years but since I recently got my new equipment and some computers to fix I wanted to delve in those repairs, so any advice about this two topic would be welcomed. I would also appreciate advices from other members of the community with more experience than mine ( which is basically null apart some engineering academic education ahah).

1. Laptops are overly engineered, the two caps most likely to reduce the noise of the flow, its okay to not replace the removed capacitor. 2. I think he uses isopropyl alcohol 70 percent is okay i guess, it wont matter cause you will dry it out after you spot the shorted cap. Just my 2cents watching sorin and adamant. Hahahaha. Sorin help me ouutta here. :/
😎 too cool man ✊🏻
Hi.have same laptop over vga video working but not on lcd.any sugestion.love you video and great content. Cheers
Hello, this comment might not be related to this video in any way, but I know this is the right channel to ask this question. I have been following and watching videos from this channel beacuse I am very interested in electronics repair. I am from Kenya and looking to set up an electronics repair shop here. I am looking for advise on a magnifying desk lamp and the magnification that can help me inspect the tiny components on a logic board comfortably. I'm really restrained financially and I have no 100 USD to spend on a microscope. Links to what I need on ebay will be very appreciated. Keep up the good work. You've inspired me alot.
Does anybody have a list of what he uses to repair these motherboards? This video just inspires me to learn motherboard repair.
I love that screws driver....where cam I get it?
Okay effort
I like these shorter videos, my attention span can be limiting at times.
Thank you again teacher Sorin for more knowledge!
Hi you should check this out - right to repair in linus and rosmangroup, you should help with a video too.thanks.
You might not answer this but - (do you think it is time you get a thermal imaging cam?)🤔 I know they can be expensive, but they seem to make life easyer also less money spent on alcohol, petrol, anti freeze etc and any mess that them products leave.
Thanks Actually in my . country people avoid Asus because of this fault, but now I understand they are only trying to protect the PC,
NICE
I did see the laptop before:)
just try with a car battery , then you will find were is the short ...OK a bit hard , yes linear supplies are nicer...betware of IPA , a litle static and it will flame off , and not visible if clean...
Just a newbie question, when the capacitor`s gone, and you remove it, don`t you change it with a new one? Can somebody explain me that.
@tanishqbhaiji103
3 жыл бұрын
They have like more than 10 capacitors, they overdo it for redundancy and if they need only 100 uF they will put 220uF and you can remove them just don’t go removing a lot of them like more than 7-10.
Mr sorin I have so many questions
Hi sir I wanna ask .if i have a power supply . Wich gose off when there is a short .do i have the shorted element get hot?
How do you check current on motherboard with multimeter if it’s not connected to power supply?
Anyone know if laptop screen that showed pink then faded to white and now dead screen can this be fix without replacing screen?
So if that cap was shorted, don't you have to solder another cap insted?? How can we find out the value for that ? Or the new one has to be bigger in size to work fine ?? Just curious
15:07 what kind if weird things would happen? Can anyone explain.
Not getting what you explained in the beginning regarding current pulling. can you explain..
Can you put a HP dv7-1240us turn on and immediately shuts off.
Sorin we are waiting for NEW VIDEOS!!!!
You could use a current shunt in series to show the amperage at the start of the video. You could use the oscilloscope as well. Just for fun! Keep up the good work.
Do you fix iPhone 5 with a dead logic board?
