Got mine today here in the Philippines hot from California. Opened the box and immediately changed SSD. Cloud recovery did not work even if i changed the time, maybe its a region thing. But i also came prepared with your tips and got it to boot from USB. Thank you for your guide.

Glad to hear. Some people love the Cloud option and some say it locks up. I am sure their servers are bogged down. This is the old tried and true way I do all my new computers so I am glad it worked for you!

The bottom middle screw is meant to stay in to give you a opening to pry it open. It's also in there laptops as well.

Hahah you have to do that!! It’s super easy to recover everything from the bios, and don’t need to create this or even use a dock! Everything Can be done from the asus cloud recovery option in the bios and all drivers and everything is there

To be honest I put a new NVME drive in first thing and loaded Windows from scratch, so I am not too sure. I have a video posted on it if you want to see.

Does the Nvidia driver have to do with DLSS?

Or you know… you could just swap the ssd and use Asus cloud recovery which will automatically install windows and all the necessary drivers

That is a great option too! I mentioned The Phawx has a video on that! I just prefer to do a fresh install and I heard the Asus servers were overloaded as well.

Hi my ROG Ally right joystick only registers up and down, so im returning it tomorrow, today my 2tb SSD and a ugreen SSD case arrived. Will it be ok to clone the SSD and then use that clone on a new ROG Ally? I wonder because i purchased windows 11 pro upgrade for the Ally so i can use bluestacks. Will i lose my Win 11 pro license, would cloning even make a difference?

The Win 11 pro license is generally tied to the motherboard. So switching to a new Rog Ally would lose the license even if you cloned the original drive. I would consider sending it into Ally for repair in your specific case.

You know that was bugging me like crazy. I actually did a full reload and new video because the first video I recorded had me stumped!

After you replace the SSD, you plug it in and turn it on, it will automatically go into bios. no need to hold the volume down etc. are you installing Windows !! or are you setting up ROG Ally?

After clean install at the MyAsus cloud recovery menu has gone and bios menu cloud recover menu doesn't work "cloud recovery no support network in uefi" need help ❤

I also formatted it from scratch and I cannot connect to the internet via wifi. I also install the drivers but it says there is no wifi driver. Did you solve it?

It has run great so far. No issues.

One downside I don’t see stated in the video is by doing a fresh install of windows, there’s no way to have the keyboard automatically pop up when touching the screen to type. Unless there’s a workaround. I can’t seem to find one online

You have to use a USB C Keyboard or Dock.

No there is a bit more to installing a 2280. It will not fit so some people have been cutting them down in size, but that is very risky. I have seen guides on doing 2242 and 2280, but either is a risk because of either modifying the card or extra heat. If you choose to do so, just understand the inherent risk.

You never went through windows updates are they necessary?

Sorry, I should have covered that. I did all available Windows updates. Since this is a Windows device its important to stay up to date for security.

I did all my Windows Updates after I installed the latest drivers. I prefer to get the latest from Asus before letting Windows install theirs.

Don’t understand why manufacturers leave old drivers to download on there site, who wants them anyway??

@@RypperGaming The built in feature does not always work properly. Many people have gotten stuck in the installation screens as well as having installation errors.

I didn’t know the bypass for wifi, otherwise i was fucked. C’mon microsoft just add this shit already for folks like me!

It used to exist in Windows, but they removed it for some reason. I think they want us all online. But if you don't have a ethernet driver loaded you are borked.

A 2tb micron is like $145 on Amazon.
