Couple things to add, keep 120hz on for variable refresh rate, if you change it 60, it turns off vrr. If you want a locked 60, keep the 120 on but in game settings you can change to 60 if you want, or unlock it to use the vrr. Also the 1080/720 toggle is just the system resolution, npt the game resolution, you still have to change game resolution if you want lower resolution.

This definitely counts as a gaming pc! Add in a KB, Mouse, and 27 inch 1080P monitor and you have a whole desktop!

That is a good option for lots of games. Some people will just choose to use the built in options though so that's what I try to focus on.

are you getting turbo mode to work on that JSAudio dock? I have 100w charger connected to it but no turbo mode on the Ally when running through dock.

It should be working. I was measuring it with amperimeter and was taking out 78 watts i ally express dock. Manual max at 35w

Great video. I want to use the Ally to play simple games on the go and triple A games docked. Can you show how good games plays AAA GAMES docked on a TV or monitor? (Not docked with the external GPU). I want to see if I can at least get 1080p 60fps on games like Spider-Man or GOW. That's what's keeping me in the fence. Also I'm not a PC gamer, yet

I have one and when plugged in running turbo playing diablo 4 I am getting a smooth 60fps at 1080p using fsr2.0 with pretty high graphics settings. When I tried god of war I think it was in the 50s for 1080p low settings but it really did feel good with whatever magic they do for the frame smoothing

I also noticed two docks I use for the Steam Deck will not allow full turbo performance even while using the asus power adapter. I may need to find a new dock to get full performance.

its not that good for playing 1080p on a external monitor its more for gaming on the go and in the 7" screen most AAA games will not perform very well with out a external gpu.

Great stuff! Thanks! 2 questions. 1- how to have Crate NOT start on boot? And next I'm playing Fallout 4 when docked so no battery issues and I have all the updates current. My speaker is continually scratchy while playing... Any tips? Thanks! :)

Asus mentioned the speaker issues before and they seemed to be related to low power modes. I will figure out the crate app question for you soon. Could be worth a video for others.

I don’t have a question about settings or setup or anything. My problem is that I live on the west coast but when I pick “set time automatically” it sets it to east coast time. I’ve tried setting it up manually but it always gets set back on its own if I update something

Someone needs to make a video on the slow download speeds of games . FH5 is the only one that’s downloaded at over 5mbps .

Do you know how to map the Xbox button to the rog? I thought it was the Xbox button from the action category but that brings the game bar. When navigating big screen on steam, I was hoping to add a shortcut to quickly access the menu and quick settings but wasn’t able to figure it out. Anyone have an idea? Thanks!

I had the same issue. Even though I mapped the Xbox button, which it shows in Steam. I could not get it to work. If I can get it going, I will add a comment for you.

What you are saying in this comment makes it seem like you may not be playing in fullscreen mode. When you are in a game, go to video settings and make sure it says Fullscreen or Fullscreen Windowed. It should not say Windowed.

My performance Overlay isnt working. Shows a transparent box. Forced to use AMD overlay atm.

Thx for the review. Honestly I'm a little shocked.I was looking at the batterie for the whole video. And the ally lost 10% of Batterie life while staying on the menu😨

I have tried several ways and I can't find a way to enable it. This should just be a software update for Asus though, so hopefully they add it soon.

I got myself a 112 wattage charger, but I only get 25w when docked? Is there anything on settings that lets us output the 30w? Edit: I'm using the Jsaux dock

You can get it from the Battle.net website. Download battle.net, make an account, and you can then buy games from them. CoD is one they own.

You’re wrong. Turbo mode is 30w. But the dock/cable you are using is limiting your performance.

We are both right. Turbo mode on battery, which I used in the video is 25W. Turbo mode plugged in is 30W.

Unfortunately no. I have a JSAUX dock, an Anker dock, and a 100W Anker charger. All 3 of them say they don't have enough power to run plugged in at 30W. If I can find one, I might buy it and make a review video.

I can see the battery drain just touching the settings...

Why don't I have the GPU settings in system usage?

That is strange, but most likely related to the Bios or Armory Crate software. I would try to update both and see if you have the option. I am considering doing a video showing performance difference between all the options. I would warn against going up to 8 because that will lower your system ram for Windows to 8 also.

For some reason my real-time monitor is blank? Can you help me out?

Mine stopped working after a series of updates. Reddit says uninstall/reinstall Armaury crate fixes it. I'm too novice to figure that out on my own.

For WARRIORS: Rise to Glory is this stupid STEAM game I enjoy .... the controls don't work and idk how to get it to run right

I may end up doing a video on adjusting the controller settings. This game mentions partial controller support. Did you try switching to controller mode? Does it do anything at all in that mode?

@Rypper Gaming in I don't think so and I tried to swipe up and go to Bluetooth settings and connect an Xbox controller which is how I'd prefer and dock it to my TV like a Nintendo switch
