    Thanks, helped a lot, i was pretty nervous about pulling my notebook apart, this video gave me confidence to do it. Replaced the battery and thermal paste and cleaned her out while she was apart, now I hope she does not sound like a hurricane at force 10, being a major issue with these units and fan noise. Fingers crossed it is fixed.

    This video was a life saver. Thanks man!! P.S. for anyone trying to get the fan blades out I recommend using two flat objects to slide underneath and wedge the blades out. I used two old credit cards and it came off really easy.

    Very useful video! Followed this just to clean the fans and do a repaste, really brought the laptop back to life after years of use! Straight to 50fps from 20 on more demanding games, temps stay below 80 easy! One question though, would there be any use of repasting all the surrounding stuff too? Those memory stuff and etc?

    Upgrading drives and taking out the fans for my Strix 2 as a result was a walk in the park thanks to this video. You're a life saver man. Thank you so much. One question though: You just pry the ram stick from the bottom and it will just pop up? I did not touch the ram but I'm gonna take my laptop apart again to add an extra stick in it.

    hi! thanks for sharing this vid, had sent this same laptop for a repair at Asus years ago but came back with the noise. i recently sent the same laptop for repairs, and when i used it, the CPU fan would run straight up to 7.8k RPM instantly on startup. my guess is that the chipset which doesnt have any thermal paste might have had some components inside damaged due to heat or something, which makes the CPU fan go haywire. this is such a great vid tho, thanks again for sharing this vid!

    That's not how it works. The CPU is the CPU. The fan could be bad or the thermal sensor circuitry. Check the CPU temps.

    @@ItsBinhRepaired ahhhh, well on idle it runs at 30-40 degrees, and when its on a load it goes to 50-60 but i dont think those would be temperatures that cause it to behave like this?

    Oh my god I wanted to take out the fan to clean all out the crap that's inside but after watching your video I won't even bother trying, you literally have to take everything apart just to clean the fans, great video though!

    This is Acetate Cloth Tape or you can use kapton tape instead.

    @@ItsBinhRepaired ,just done!.....but I didnt open the fan entirely....dont have sharp small knife...I just spray WD40 and put vaccum point at fan airways..... i dont have courage to crack open the fan entirely....but WD40 and vacuum do works.....no more hard sound.Your video help me alot....thank you soo much Sir!

I don't think i have anything sharp enough to cut those plastics, and the rattling sound from the fans is driving me crazy, even if i have to do it couples times every now and then, i wouldn't mind.     @@SinisterSaintsExcellion I just use WD40 small straw that already provided when you bought WD40.Connect the straw to the WD40 nozzle and pointed into then fan while opening your windows. During spraying WD40 i kept opening Windows just to make sure the fan keep spinning and set the fan boost to highest mode.

    you actually don't need to take off the entire heatsink to take the fans out, once you take the adhesive off both the front and the back it just pops out!

    I have opened my Strix Scar II several times to add drives, memory. This last time, as I was disconnecting the battery, the metal clip detached and shorted a circuit on the motherboard. Magic smoke. Now the laptop won't power up. Completely dead. Planning to sell it for parts. If I had known this might happen, I would have put masking tape on the motherboard around the battery connection to prevent a short if the clip comes off. Be warned.

    @@iPro23Awesome can't say for sure if it'll work. It really depends on the cause of the noise. Sometimes it's physically broken, but in most cases the fan can be repaired with grease.

    Ask: the paste around my gpu cpu At 19:40 (the small one) is dry and crusty too.. Can i apply the thermal paste there too? Because even after apply the thermal paste at CPU GPU, my laptop still often enter the thermal mode (when i look at gaming center, cpu around 80, gpu around 75 degree, after 1 hour gamming).. Thank you.

    Not sure which one you're referring to, but all the paste can be replaced. The pads you need something like ic diamond or thermal pads. Do not use other types of paste. Most are too thin and will run/leak onto the board and cause damage.

    @@LeonVermilion that stuff should be thermal pads, but they melted I think. I'm not familiar with the paste, but I wouldn't recommend it. The gap is really big for those parts to be bridged by regular paste.

    The same screw wouldn't come off the bottom as well... So it might not be the customer breaking it. It might be a general problem with it.

    hi, i have tried to do cleaning and repaste. after it has been put together somehow all is work except the lcd dont turned on. (rgb backlight, rgb bar, keyboard backlight are all on). have disconnect and reconnected the LCD cable on the board but nothing changed, is there something i did wrong?

    If you didn't do the battery power drain before disconnecting the screen, then you fried the backlight circuit.

    Hello sir, thank you very much for the video, I did every step carefully and thoroughly and now my GPU fan US not spinning anymore 🤦🏽‍♂️ what did I do wrong , is there something I am missing ? Any suggestions ? I unplugged and plugged everything back in and still the GPU fan wouldn’t move

    It might only spin when it's hot. Hopefully you didn't connect it upside down. That would fry it.

    @@ItsBinhRepaired no nothing of sorts, I connected everything correct, I am trying to control the gpu fan over the Asus armoury crate where you can manually set up the fan speed and it’s not spinning at all :( I didn’t put any adhesive over the metal frame of the fan, since I didn’t have proper heat resistant adhesive band, but that can’t be the reason for it to not work can it ?

    wish I had seen this vid sooner..So I have the exact pc and other day it just turned off. now it won't turn on. I did the whole static test. Tried turning it on with and without battery (with cord) after doing the static discharge and nothing :(. Is my motherboard fried aka laptop finished?

    @@ItsBinhRepaired 2 years of apex lol..prob 2500hrs on it. It started thermal throttling 2 months ago and also noticed alot of FPS drops from like 120 to 70 from time to time. temp use to be around 65C to 70C while gaming and then went up to around 75-80C which is when it started to caused the FPS drop. I had a cooling pad with fan under but that didnt help much I guess.

    Hmmmm pull the heatsink back up and check the coverage. If it looks good, you can put a small dot in the center of the existing paste and put it back down. You didn't bend the heatsink, did you?

    the entire fan box comes out... not just the fan... you should not have exposed the fan blades... and it is not condensation that does that... it's regular wear and tear. happens usually about one and a half, to a couple of years of use. you need to change the fans.

    LOL every one and a half to a couple years? I have a 10+ year old laptop using the original fan and never needed to even repair it...It's either crap design or environment.

    hey man i dont have noise problem but i have the dust one. there alot of dust in my fan (gl504gs) and i dont know how to open the fan to blow the dust away, all i can do is repaste, how to remove the dust man ? thanks.

    I have the same pc. My problem is that the fan, on the left side (is it of the CPU?) goes alway at max, about over 5000 RPM. Do anyone find how to fix it? Everything I did, it solved the problem only temporary. Now is really noise. Please help me

    Same gpu fan is always 7000rpm no matter what. It can be 1% usage and 35C and it won't go down I've tried everything nothing fixes it ASUS is crap.

    Dude , can you please help me , i have the same laptop and my screen is flickering , i looked over KZread and did what they all said but no results , i even completely wiped the hard drive and reinstalled win . So now i think it's a hardware problem , is there anyway to know what is exactly infected ? I mean my graphic card is detectable , it shows up everywhere i check but it doesn't work i guess

    Then the customer won't see all the work I had to do plus I'd have to do more work. Are you going to pay me to edit it? $30-$100 worth of my time would be spent editing. I won't get that back in views.
