Astrophotography Tutorial: Processing Mono (RGB) Images in Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop Part 2

Hi everyone,
This video is all about how to stack and combine light images - either broadband (RGB) or narrowband (Ha, Sii, Oiii). I've cut this video into two parts.
In this second part, I'll explain how you can use photoshop to combine different mono (stacked) images into one coloured image.
You can find part 1 here: • Astrophotography Tutor...
In the first part I explain how you can use Deep Sky Stacker 3.3.4 to create stacks for the different filters I used during my imaging session. In part two,
The images are of the Cresent Nebula (NGC6888), and i used narrowband filters (Ha, Sii, Oiii). Note that this proces can also be used for processing broadband filters.
I'm still in the process of learning so advise is certainly welcome.
Thanks for watching!

Same here, now I need to learn how to add the luminance layer, thank you!

Hi there, you take the mono picture you want for luminance (usually the H alpha in narrowband or the luminance filter in broadband). Put that picture as an extra layer on top of all other layers and select "luminosity" in the drop down box where it shows "normal". Thanks for watching

@@AstroForumSpace deep sky nebula etc. Been using a modified Canon 100D with a Skywatcher 72ED. Recently (couple of days ago) moved up from an AZ GTI to an EQ5 Pro. I have seen a reasonable 1600 for £100 more than a 533. Of course would need to factor in filter wheel etc etc.

@@WhittleAstro then I would consider the 1600, especially when you live under light polluted skies. The filterwheel and extra time is worth it in my opinion. Good luck!

So you put SHO in RGB what if you have LRGB and SHO?

Hmm. Never tried it. You can include Ha (and lum) as an extra luminosity layer for your RGB data. You could also try to blend your sho and lrgb using different layers in Photoshop, with a layer mask to keep your true color RGB stars...just thinking out loud here, good luck.
