Astrophotography Tutorial: Processing Mono (RGB) Images in Deep Sky Stacker and Photoshop Part 1
Hi everyone,
This video is all about how to stack and combine light images - either broadband (RGB) or narrowband (Ha, Sii, Oiii). I've cut this video into two parts.
In this first part, i'll explain how you can use Deep Sky Stacker 3.3.4 to create stacks for the different filters I used during my imaging session. In part two, I'll explain how you can use photoshop to combine different mono (stacked) images into one coloured image. You can find part 2 here: • Astrophotography Tutor...
The images are of the Cresent Nebula (NGC6888), and i used narrowband filters (Ha, Sii, Oiii). Note that this proces can also be used for processing broadband filters.
I'm still in the process of learning so advise is certainly welcome.
Thanks for watching!

My pleasure!
Intersection Mode will shear off the "framing" effect.
Hi Wido, I'm thinking about getting a deep sky mono camera. Thing is weather in the UK is often unrealiabe. Can you take single filtered shots over different days and still combine them. The things is the camera orientation would change settings may differ.. different exposure etc.

Hi Robbie, yes, with the proper software you can definitely collect your data across multiple nights. I live under similar weather conditions here in The Netherlands and it sometimes takes me weeks to get all the mono data for a particular target. I'm using plate solving in Sequence Generator Pro to get the target in the same field of view across different nights. And I'm using stacking software like Pixinsight and Deep Sky Stacker to align and stack multiple images and generate one overall picture of a deep sky object. on my website (www.astroforumspace.com) I have info on sequence generator pro and blogs on dedicated astrophotography cameras. Hope this helps. Clear skies.
Hi are ADC a useful tool or are they a gimmick. Do they really help with planetary AP?

Hi, I don't know, never used one :-).
Shouldn’t ur flats expose for at least a couple seconds? I thought I was told that before
This would have been an excellent tutorial if you had taken ONE set of LRGB files, Darks, and Flats. By adding in multiple dates and multiple filters your tutorial became so confusing so as not to be useful at all.
