This video has cemented the choice for me ....DB9 search is on....of course I'd need to know who in Australia could be trusted in maintaining it.

Yeah I’ve got a Maserati and am toying with trying to snake my way into a DB9 of 2008-2011 vintage

A Great Story Paul, a journey to keep the car current and a 'keeps' if you were able to share the incremental costs of the upgrades so we could see the steps and 'Bang per buck' that would be great please? My 2010 Volante needs some evolution like your enhancements (Man Maths permitting)...... Your travels around Europe sound fantastic, good on you for stretching the cars legs and using it properly. My DB9 (and sadly due to Covid, now my late father) in Sept 2019 did a large circuit (1,600 miles) around West Scotland, the North Coast and East, then back again across to SW Scotland and back to Yorkshire in 2 weeks - A special journey, and in retrospect a special time in the car - the DB9 performed fabulously, around the Lochs cruising and viewing', open unpopulated roads the cornering ability surprised me (only had the car for 4 months by then), (and compared to my previous 911's and F355/456's); roof down as soon as the Scottish 'mist' stopped, in order to see and appreciate the sea and mountains - I would recommend that journey to all, it really is a 'Bucket List' to do, here in the UK - just need a few more horses and in the damp Scottish weather with all the sheep - BETTER BRAKES! Has anybody upgraded the DB9 brakes to the DBS Ceramic as part of an evolution journey?

What a story! I've been to Scotland many times but have never done the NC500. I'll try and put together a list of the big costs per upgrade. It's difficult to be too accurate because the costs of about can dramatically alter if you're having other work done. I've also been very lucky in picking up "pre-loved" components. For the Volante - the one upgrade I'd recommend above all others is the least glamorous one. Underbody stiffening plates. they really made a difference to the early DB9! Also, the Volantes don't have rear roll bars - another worthwhile upgrade but only if you get the stiffening plates!

I love the inevitability of modding a DB9: it’s going to become a DBS.

Love the DBS - styling a little shouty for me though! Also, I do a great deal of Autobahn work - DBS isn't as aerodynamic - makes a difference 130 MPH up

How much did you spend? £50K?

  • @TheSquaremeal

Just had a look at the figure for you. Just under £40k on the upgrades. I used a few pre-loved parts where appropriate which keep the costs down. In my man maths mind I treat the upgrade costs as a sort of reverse depreciation.

TheSquaremeal thanks! It makes sense if you have a company like Bamford Rose to do the work. I mean someone you can trust. I live in France and the only thing preventing me from buying a DB9 is that. A company I can trust that won’t fleece. Me. Infotainment aside, the DB9is by far and away a more attractive car than the DB11 and new Vantage. Db9 GT would be my choice, but they are so rare in LHD configuration.

Switch to a 2016 DB9 GT ;) More power than a DBS (540bhp) whilst retaining all the DB9 classic styling ;)

Graham B I love the the DB9 GTs! Great choice. This is about the same power and torque now. However the delivery is completely different. The progress to red line is a step change, sir.
