That was our airbnb in Assisi with the pizza place across the alley and below!! We were there for a month, the November before last, so probably right before you were there. The 2nd day I broke the key off in the lock on that 2nd door at the top of the stairs. That was a real "Oh no" moment. Fortunately Emanuele made it over in about an hour with a new key.

From Assisi you can go to Siena and San Giminiano, then up to Pisa. Do not miss Orvieto either.I ve been to Rome numerous times but still find new sites to discover. Hi Denise, We went to Siena and San Gimignano as a side trip during our first trip to Florence in 2017, and unfortunately, we haven't been back. We are going back to Italy in early June as well, and originally had planned to visit Pisa (how have we not visited there yet?!), but we streamlined the trip and only will be spending a week in Turin and a week in Genova. Unfortunately, we are limited in the amount of time we can stay in Schengen countries, and there are so many places to visit! I will put Orvieto on my list as well. We took a day trip to Rome from Assisi (for vaccinations for Egypt), and we have an episode coming out next Saturday on how we spent it. Of course, Rome is worth so much more time, but we captured the highlights of what we could comfortably squeeze in! Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your experiences with us! -Judy

@@denisefalzon8446 No, we hadn't! We try to focus on places that are reasonably easy to get to from one place to another, but after you mentioned it, I see that there is a nonstop flight from Napoli to Malta that only takes 1.5 hours! In seeing an island smack in the middle of the sea, I would have falsely thought it would be super hard/expensive to travel to. We will add both Malta and Gozo to our list of places to visit when we have some time near Italy. We'll be back in June for two weeks, but we have to juggle it against our allotted time in Schengen, so maybe next year. We are nearly planned out through December already. We will definitely reach out for tips and hints when we're ready to visit. Is there a best time of year to be there? -Judy
