The AssaultRower Pro is a sturdy steel rowing machine that uses air resistance. It does not require a subscription to use the rowing machine. There are customizable training programs on the AssaultRower Pro’s console. The programs include intervals, target programs, and heart rate-based training.
To support the heart rate training, the console is ANT+ and Bluetooth compatible. You can also pair the rower to the Assault Fitness app. There are additional training programs on this app.
The resistance is unlimited. The harder you row, the more difficult the air resistance becomes. The rower is challenging to get started, but the chain and belt drive keep up good tension to create an easy recovery phase. There is a wind guard that keeps the air from blowing in your face continuously as you train.
The Pro is a comfortable rowing machine. It has a wide and soft seat that is molded for an ergonomic feel. The seat sits higher off of the ground, so it feels more like you are sitting down into a seat. The handle has traditional grips and a center grip for untraditional single-handed rowing.
The dual-stage chain and belt drive perform well. The chain portion makes the AssaultRower Pro feel grittier and sound louder. It’s not quite as loud and gritty as a rowing machine with a full chain drive.
The AssaultRower Pro has a great construction that is covered by a 7-year frame warranty and 3-year moving parts warranty.

Good review. My gym has this and I agree that I like the seat way better than the C2 seat. It's a high quality piece of equipment, and the flywheel is not prone to getting full of dustbunnies. If I was running a gym, I'd consider getting these over a C2. As a home user, I'd only get this over a c2 when it is on sale for a lot less. But one minor point is that I agree with 'training tall'--the feet can typically go one notch lower than strap over ball of foot. This should still feel totally fine--but it lets you get slightly better 'lean forward' at the front of your stroke. For years I wasn't getting as good front range until I lowered my feet just a tad more, and my stroke got better immediately b/c I could get more of the 11:00-1:00 body swing working.
