    As well the Dutch who surrendered after 5 days of fight, the 15th of may 1940, Mr Theo van something. You can also notice than, the English, where the first to reach the beach of Dunkirk.

    How did the Germans think they could win a war on two fronts when so much of their transport was supplied by horse and cart?

  • @jonhart7630

    @jonhart7630

    2 жыл бұрын

    Horse transport wasn't a problem on the West front due to the short distances and most of the infantry marched on foot. Obviously it was a different story in Russia. Hitler realised this which is why he prioritised capture of the Baku oilfields in the south.

    West Front was pretty much silent for 4 years until Overlord began. Germany controlled the western front for four years. What cost them the war was Moscow and Leningrad campaigns that resulted over millions of deaths and waste of war resources. Stalingrad started too late and Soviets, who had regained their strength and regrouped, were already counter attacking the Germans by the time of Fall Blau. By 43, Germans were on retreat from Soviet Union. Western front was pretty much neutralised by that point until Americans took the charge in Europe.
