    Hi, I bought the Asrock b650m pro rs wifi edition. I got it for $150 on NewEgg. It has three m.2 nvme (which is a great plus for me) it looks like a really solid board to me. I havent found a video reviewing it, just reviewing its brother and sister boards. Great video too! Ps, i just looked up the release date, it was released April, 2023. Its a really new board. I guess i got really lucky with my timing.

I was very indecisive until i saw this motherboard. pcie lanes configuration is better than on 3x more expensive boards. Bit of an odd question, but was any part of this motherboard's packaging 'sealed'? I've just bought one of these from Amazon and the box was not in the best condition and the anti-static bag looked overly creased for a new product and had no seal whatsoever. The board itself looks fine but as I'm buying PC parts over the course of this year for a new build, wont actually get to test the board till a few months down the line which could be too late to return it.

  • @iVadimUnbox

    @iVadimUnbox

    4 ай бұрын

    There were no seals. I haven't seen a sealed motherboard for a long time now. I think manufacturers stopped sealing them nowadays. I don't recommend buying anything you won't use now for a few reasons. 1) As you've mentioned, you can't test if it works. Even brand new products sometimes arrive defective. 2) Your product may become outdated (if new generation launches) and as a result become cheaper. If I were you, I'd hold on to my money until I'd have enough to build the PC I want. Only exception may be memory (SSD, DDR5 RAM). But even then you won't be saving a lot because memory prices constantly fluctuate. It is difficult to predict if you'll actually save any money by buying it now.

    Hi, a bit of a silly question here but I am new to this stuff. My question is where do i install my Crucial P5 Plus 2TB M.2 NVMe Internal SSD memory. Does it go in the 1 Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen5x4 slot) or does it go in the 1 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4x4). This SSD is for my main system for Windows.

  • @iVadimUnbox

    @iVadimUnbox

    7 ай бұрын

    If your SSD comes with a heatsink then I'd use Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4x4). That way you still have that faster Gen5 slot available in case you decide to buy a Gen5 SSD later. But if your SSD doesn't have a heatsink and you don't plan on adding a Gen5 SSD in the near future then I'd use the Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen5x4 slot). The one with the pre-installed heatsink. That way your SSD will stay cooler for better sustained workloads.

  • @3dsf

    @3dsf

    7 ай бұрын

    Theoretically, you'd get better performance using the pcie gen 5 slot as it connects directly to the cpu. The other m.2 slot is connected to a chipset and will have a slightly higher latency and would share 4x pcie4 lanes with the other devices on the chipset. There is a diagram in the manual that will clarify what comes off the chipset. Though as the other reply suggested, if it has a heatsink, I'd use the pcie4 m.2 slot, and if it doesn't, I'd use the pcie5 m.2 slot (Which will turn into pcie4 for your drive).

    I am so torn on what Memory to buy with this board. I'm planning to pair it with a 7600x. The board specification says can handle up to 6400+, and AMD Ryzen on their 7000 series processors, on their own specification page, list that the CPUs support memory up to 5200 MHz officially. However, I have found by googling and watching review videos, that the actual sweet spot for Ryzen 7000 series is 6000Mhz, despite what their own website says, but the other problem then comes in, where I found another review of this board in which the person said that they would go for 5600Mhz for this board specifically just to be on the "safe" side. Why the fuck does buying memory have to be this complicated, I literally have no idea what MHz to buy now, not even to mention with what CL.

  • @rotony1

    Don't stress too much about it. Get a DDR5-6000 memory kit. It is the sweet spot for Ryzen 7000. Just don't forget to enable that speed in BIOS. Otherwise it runs at default 5200 speed. By the way, there is nothing "unsafe" about running DDR5-6000. It is absolutely fine. Every Ryzen 7000 CPU is able to achieve this speed. Even AMD has officially talked about it.
