Making of an Aspis (ancient greek shield used by hoplites)
so true most where made from oak or ash wood which is the same type that is used for making baseball bats today.
no, they were made from light woods, poplar and willow would be best. This video is a great shield but modern methods.
Quick question, how long did it take you to make one? would you ever to a commission to make one?
just needs a coating of bronze or onther such material
I'm planning to make one too but I'm wondering how thick the boards are on your shield? 1 cm or more?
I know it's late but here's a very helpful and detailed resource on making an aspis with this method www.larp.com/hoplite/hoplon.html
i need one...how much??????
whats the easiest way to cut out these wooden rings?
Mouse Trap jigsaw, for sure.
Hello! I would like to purchase this shield from you, or perhaps you could make me one? I will pay very well $$ Thank you, James
