I'm always so torn with Amy's videos. On the one hand, she's easily one of the best ASMR creators out there, competing even with Goodnight Moon. On the other hand, Amy is the spitting image of my ex, which is less fun. :/ Usually I just listen to the audio for that reason, but comments like this remind me I'm seriously missing out on the video.

The Prince’s cousin nearly spit out the wine he was in the midst of quaffing. “You cannot be serious,” he balked, regarding the Prince with a mix of utter bafflement and horror. He did this because the Prince had been caught off-guard--when told he’d be gone for a time and to try and cover for him, the Prince’s cousin asked in jest if he was going after the missing Maid that they’d come to blows over before. It was unmistakable, the look on the Prince’s face. His cousin had seen it more than a few times over the years they grew together. Complete surprise...at being caught. Caught clutching a secret he dare not share with any but his beloved. However, his cousin read the shock on his face--along with the pain in his heart that he was no doubt expressing--like an open book. With the proverbial cat out of the bag, the Prince could either try and lie after the prolonged stunned silence, or stand his ground. He thought of his friend the Princess--a kingdom away yet metaphorically in his exact same shoes--and did as she had done. He dug the heels of those shoes in, and refused to lie about his feelings. With his Maid’s life in danger, to deny his love now would be too much to bear. “I am.” “You’re besotted. Tell me it’s the wine talking.” “Half-right. I am besotted, but not because of the wine. I must say, I’m almost glad of this; it’s helped give me the courage to speak something I’ve held hidden away, as if it were something to fear or be ashamed of, instead of celebrated.” His cousin was at a loss for words for several minutes, swishing the wine about in his glass absently. Finally, brow furrowing, he mused, “That one we got into it over before...unbelievable.” The Prince said nothing, chagrined. “My god, man; what is the matter with you? You’ve met with some of the most beautiful and powerful women in the land, and you’re telling me it’s this chambermaid that’s won your favor?” “So what?” the Prince retorted, defensive. “There’s nothing against it.” Not that he wanted to have a second argument, but he didn’t particularly care if there had been, either. His cousin conceded, “Nothing officially against it, no. But there’s so much to consider that should forbid it that I have to assume it’s a final test to your readiness to ascend to kinghood. Think about it--you wed this...this maid, this nobody, and what does that tell the people you’re sworn to serve? That you’re unable to protect them--the alliances forged in marriage are critical to strengthening the kingdom as a whole. What does it tell our allies? That you think this lowly commoner is worth more than their highborn daughters. Such an insult would shatter many of these already shaky bonds. And our enemies? That you’re weak--that you listen more to your bleeding heart than your head, and they would ensure that heart would truly bleed as they run roughshod over everything that those who came before you have built.” “Well, that’s certainly a worst-case scenario,” the Prince told him, eyebrow raised as he took another sip of wine. “You ever think the people would appreciate a king who doesn’t care about status?” “I’m sure some would,” sighed the cousin, visibly annoyed, “and that would create its own set of problems. You know what happens when every farmer and baker and washwoman out there thinks they could be the next king or queen? They stop caring about being farmers and bakers and washwomen, and the whole system is thrown into anarchy.” The Prince couldn’t resist a grim smile at this. “Anybody ever tell you you’re a ‘glass-half-empty’ kind of guy, cousin?” “Sure. Usually the same naive fools who haven’t grown beyond falling for a comely servant’s kind words and paltry gifts.” He smirked as the Prince’s hand instinctively went to the scarf around his neck. “Yes, I’d wondered about that. Such a shoddy thing doesn’t befit royalty, and yet all of a sudden you’re wearing the thing constantly. Between that, our previous fight, and the looks I’ve noticed you giving her, let’s just say I’ve had my suspicions. But I’d hoped I was wrong.” Shaking his head, the Prince asked, “What happened to you? You didn’t used to be so hard-hearted. When we were younger I remember you had a crush on that...that innkeeper’s daughter--Stella, right?. Somewhere along the way you lost yourself.” “On the contrary; I found myself. I grew up, cousin, unlike you. You honestly think Stella wanted anything more than to marry up? Gain my name, my wealth, my power? Of course you do; you’re still naive enough to think the same of this maid of yours. She doesn’t love you, cousin; not who you are...only what you are. And now you’re going to saunter off and get yourself killed trying to save her? You endanger the future of this kingdom and your own life for someone who just means to use you as a stepping stone!” The Prince was beginning to suspect this talk might end in another fistfight. But he did his best to quell his anger--he couldn’t risk getting injured before meeting up with that mercenary and setting off, after all--and sternly replied, “You’re wrong! She’s not like that! You don’t even know her!” “Trust me, man, neither do you. You ‘know’ the face she puts forward, the character she chooses to play, nothing more. I’m trying to protect you, and this kingdom. To confirm, you haven’t told your father of this?” When the Prince angrily shook his head his cousin continued, insisting, “I beg you, keep this nonsense between us. I can’t bear to hear you break your father’s heart when he learns all his efforts to have you wed to the land’s most eligible women were all for nothing.” He wanted to explain that it wasn’t for nothing--that he had honestly tried but simply hadn’t fallen in love with those women--but the Prince deigned not to bother. It was clear that explaining this to his cousin would be like explaining the basics of swordplay to a horse--stolen or otherwise. He either wouldn’t get it or wouldn’t care. “Just leave me alone, alright?” muttered a vexed Prince on the verge of punching his cousin again. “I’ve got more than enough stress right now without you piling on!” With a nod, the Prince’s cousin told him, “Very well. I’ll leave you, to consider my words. If you’ve any brains you’ll do the right thing and stay here. If not, well let’s hope you have luck in place of those brains, eh? If you do decide to go and you do manage to not get killed and bring this girl back, we can resume this discussion.” Before the Prince could protest, he raised a hand and continued with, “Please, just hear me out. I’ll say my piece on this whole matter. If you still want to pursue this girl after that, so be it. I’ll even help get the two of you together. Sound fair?” While he was pretty sure he’d just heard his cousin’s piece, the Prince sighed and nodded in agreement. It would be nice to have someone on his side in this for when he managed to bring the matter up to his father. And maybe in doing so he could help bring back the cousin he once knew, the one he considered another brother. In one last attempt to dissuade him, his cousin told the Prince, “I don’t want you to lose your life, man.” “Nor do I. That’s why I’m going to go and get her back.”

This mercenary reminds me of another great cutthroat, Ser Bronn of the Blackwater. And this is a good thing 😎
